You have movies like Hobo with a shotgun with mindless violence but the context is still more sensible than this. People would still give a shit about "Hatred: the Movie" because it'd still have a main character that just wants to brutally kill innocent people because he feels like it. Hobo with a shotgun was about a hobo that killed people who killed tons of innocent people brutally.
Did you even see the movie? The Hobo killed criminals and crime lords.

Which is exactly what he said?
Another example that comes to mind as far as bad publicity still being bad publicity is gender bender DNA twister extreme. Remember that stupid game ? No one bought it. Everyone pirated the thing to make fun of how stupid and creepy it was, but the sales were awful low - the only people who actually bothered purchasing the thing were basically people who backed the game.
Remember Ride to Hell ? It's fucking godawful, and it had a huge peak in popularity due to how retarded it was, but it still bombed. The only reason a game like Bad Rats became a "success" is because its price never exceeded 5 bucks, and for the past year or so the game has remained at 99 cents permanently.
I don't see how being proud of your nation = fucked in the head, really. Everyone is a nationalist to a degree and obviously, this guy is very nationalistic. Also, considering what's happening in Sweden right now, I'm not at all surprised he's anti-immigration and islamophobic, so no, in my mind his opinion can't "fuck right off".
This is not true.
Which is exactly what he said?
I misread that, my bad.
I feel that, in terms of premise/message, this is one of those 'so bad it's good' games
it's just so tryhard that it comes across as comical
that aside, I'm sure it's gonna be quite fun anyway
Looking at gameplay of Postal, as well as reading the plot/story/etc. of it, it's pretty much the same and is just as fucked up. ("everyone is infected but me, I must cleanse the city" VS "I fucking hate everyone, time to kill everyone") So yeah, it's safe to say that people are over-reacting now as they did when Postal first came out and I am 100% sure that people will stop caring and eventually say that it's a fun game.

Postal doesn't outright start with the main character spouting edgy bullshit. It's all about the character's outright insanity and disturbing view of reality, which is why it's basically a horror game. Not to mention that some of the ingame one liners and diary entries are still quite stupid - also, you only kill armed enemies and they're shooting back.
Basically Postal is a game where you follow a guy with actual mental issues who goes on a rampage and it constantly reminds you of how fucked up he is. Hell I played the game and couldn't bring myself to go that far into it because it gets creepy and uncomfortable really fast, and it's the goal of the whole thing. Postal 2 also accomplishes the same effect on some portions of the game albeit with a much more satirical and caustic environment.
you keep bringing Sweden up. They aren't swedish, WHERE IS THIS COMING FROM?
I'm lost at this point.
And that apparently isn't the point for the CEO if he really is islamophobic.
Basically in recent years Sweden has had a lot of immigration and has been trying to become more multicultural, but ironically it's mostly had the opposite effect, with racial tensions and rumors of an Islamic Sweden being taken over by dirty foreigners becoming a rallying cry for white supremacists.
PS, I will admit that I have not spent time in Sweden, this information is just going off of research rather than personal anecdotes, so feel free to say I'm just an ignorant American or a filthy slav.
Did you even see the movie? The Hobo killed criminals and crime lords.
yeah that's what I meant
"He was a hobo that killed murderers"
I saw it I just worded it bad
I guess this was kinda expected

Jesus I just realized how awkward the voice acting got.
"My Genocide Crusade begins... Here"
It sounds like he's asking if its here
Seriously, "Does it begin here? Do i genocide crusade here, or did Carl give me the wrong address again? Fucking Carl."

Yeah these are cheesy one liners, not edgy monologues.
Hatred must have set a very very very very very low bar, if you'd go so far as to say that Rampage was an intelligent movie compared to it.
there was at least one scene in rampage that had actual thought put into it. there's a scene where the mass murderer kid goes into a bingo hall full of old people in full gear and spends 5 minutes going up to the counter, ordering some food, eating, and then leaving without doing anything. i've always kind of liked uwe boll just for that one scene
jesus christ i can't believe this has already reached 9 pages
In addition to things already described as making the game disturbing such as the main character having no good motivation for killing and all the targets being cops or civilians, I noticed that unlike most games, the NPCs have quite a bit of emotion to them and the deaths are graphic.
In games like Call of Duty, you're shooting at hostile soldiers with weapons who don't do anything like surrender or beg for their lives, they just angrily shoot at you until they die. In GTA, civilians can be hostile even if you just stare at them long enough, but the game doesn't force you to kill any. Normally when threatened, they just run away, maybe screaming some. If you play anything like I do, you tend to avoid shooting at civilians unless you're attacked or something.
However, here the entire goal is to kill a bunch of innocent civilians for no reason at all. In the trailer, there's several scenes where there's a civilian begging for mercy while the main character ignores them and places a bullet in their head at point-blank or something. GTA even isn't this violent or graphic for the most part, and certainly not towards civilians. I think that's what the worst thing is about this game.

Interesting. I was actually going to compare it to Human Centipede 2.
I don't even know what to think of HC2
that movie was so vile and wrong in everyway, yet interesting and exciting to see how horrible it can get (which is probably the only way a sane person could like it)s
maybe I can get the same effect with Hatred, who knows.
I think what it comes down to is the Hatred trailer is too close to a "Edgy death metal goth who kills people because everything is cold and PEOPLE ARE WORMS" that it feels insanely cheesy and lame and becomes a joke in and of itself
HC2 is just outright meant to and feels slimy. They did good work on doing that. it doesn't feel like a comedy or anything, it's just meant to be a shocker flick.
Hatred is a game so it's pretty different, but I feel like it pisses people off because it breaks poe's law. Too stupid not to be satire, yet too serious to not be for real.
A lot of people that are getting uptight about it are probably going to end up playing it and enjoying it. Its not like its the first time your gonna be gunning random people down and who you play as will hardly affect it if you care more about the gameplay.

Didn't enemies flee and scream in fear in the original Red Faction? I remember feeling a bit guilty for fighting them even if they were dicks when playing.

its the 2nd time you silly goose.
You know, the animations (if that was gameplay footage) are actually pretty decent, especially the small section where he was outside the house and people were shooting at him and he was stumbling around. Despite the hilariously inappropriate subject material, it actually looks vaguely good.
I just wonder how many countries WONT ban this game.
Well I think the SCOTUS ruling on games being covered under free speech still stands, so that's one, although I'm willing to bet the NSA is gonna keep an eye on people who buy this.
