You know, the animations (if that was gameplay footage) are actually pretty decent, especially the small section where he was outside the house and people were shooting at him and he was stumbling around. Despite the hilariously inappropriate subject material, it actually looks vaguely good.
This is Unreal 4 isn't it? its looking really good The more I watch these parody trailers the more I actually want to play this game
I can't wait

Y'know, i think the only real way a game like this would work, where you're very clearly the villain and mindlessly slaughtering innocent people in gruesome ways for your own enjoyment, would work is if the main character was exceptionally charming, so that you couldnt help but like him even when he's doing it. This isnt that.
I'm only gonna play it if a Shadow the Hedgehog playermodel is made.

Where can I pre order this game? it looks awesome
Minus the angst, this actually looks like it could be fun. I hope it has multiplayer. I want to be able to be an edgy psychopath with friends!
Well I think the SCOTUS ruling on games being covered under free speech still stands, so that's one, although I'm willing to bet the NSA is gonna keep an eye on people who buy this.
Are you fucking retarded? You really think this game is such a big deal that the NSA is gonna monitor people who buy it as if they are criminals? Its a fucking game, worse shit has come out before, far worse shit. Like I cannot believe how big of a deal you seem to think this fucking game is, there have been more offensive flash games in the past decade. What the fuck.
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/joke
Kind of hard to figure out when you joke, from past shit you post you pretty much came off dead serious, wouldnt be surprised if you actually were and just trying to save your idiocy.
Lets see if they actually dare to one-up that rodriguez film
Hobo with a shotgun was a pretty good movie, though. This game portrays the guy as some kind of hero or something, HWaS just made you hate the bad guys a lot (and laugh at the ridiculousness). If this game played disco inferno instead of "Generic teenage angst track #47" I would be a lot more okay with it already. Also, I love Rutger Hauer.
Postal doesn't outright start with the main character spouting edgy bullshit.
And that is relevant how? There are lots of mental illnesses all of which have varying effects on the person's behavior and vary from 1 person to another.
also, you only kill armed enemies and they're shooting back.
...so? One is way too surreal (not every single person in existence carries a weapon at all times), the other is more realistic. Breivik did the same, but he had a motive and an ideology and this happened in real life. If you want to make this game look worse than real life events, then this argument is just retarded.
It's all about the character's outright insanity and disturbing view of reality, which is why it's basically a horror game. Not to mention that some of the ingame one liners and diary entries are still quite stupid - also, you only kill armed enemies and they're shooting back. Basically Postal is a game where you follow a guy with actual mental issues who goes on a rampage and it constantly reminds you of how fucked up he is.
What makes you think the protagonist (not sure if you can even call him that) in this game does not suffer from mental issues? 1. they both share the same goal - kill everyone 2. they both say completely fucked up shit and are most (definitely for the Postal dude from the first game) likely fucked in the head - as seen in the gameplay reveal of this game ("I always wanted to die violently", etc, a normal person would NOT say that, and please don't attribute this to the developers, this is the dumbest fucking argument ever) and the quotes/diary entries on loading screens of Postal 1 3. they both have no empathy nor understanding of reality (why would anyone try to kill as many people just because they're fed up with the world and go out with a bang?)
Hell I played the game and couldn't bring myself to go that far into it because it gets creepy and uncomfortable really fast, and it's the goal of the whole thing.
Again, what makes you think that this isn't the point of the game either? If I ever get to playing this game, and it gets more and more disturbing, I doubt I'll be able to enjoy nor finish it, just like you did with Postal 1. So far the response for this game is ridiculously negative, and it sure seems like it disturbed and made a lot of people uncomfortable.
Postal 2 also accomplishes the same effect on some portions of the game albeit with a much more satirical and caustic environment.
Postal 2 is a different game, if it was as disturbing as Postal 1, it would get bashed on ten-fold upon release. The devs probably realized that and decided to go a different route. This game is literally Postal 1 but with more detailed executions and a different character. It has the same motive (kill everyone), but with a different execution. (or maybe the protag in this game is insane as well? who knows, there wasn't that much info released about this game yet) I am 100% sure that the same controversy was back when Postal 1 got released and that people that tried to justify the game/point out that people shouldn't get so upset over a fucking game got bashed non-stop. But because you guys have your nostalgia goggles on, you don't realize that this is the same thing as Postal 1 with a different paint job.
Okay I'm gonna be honest - the game is over the top and edgy but if it plays well then I will get it - It won't be as sophisticated as like Postal but eh. I'm half expecting the game to not be made anyway
But because you guys have your nostalgia goggles on, you don't realize that this is the same thing as Postal 1 with a different paint job.
That's not entirely a bad thing. I'd kill (lol) for more Postal 1.

Im hyped by this game. Yeah its violent, yeah its disgusting. But thats exactly why i want to play it.
The animation quality during the presumably in game sections is a lot higher quality than the animation for the monologue, that part looks really jerky and unnatural.
reminds me a lot of that old The Punisher game. Same murderous rampage vibe.
I noticed that unlike most games, the NPCs have quite a bit of emotion to them and the deaths are graphic.
Oh, you mean they're trying to make the game look realistic? Huh, never thought they'd want to do that! Let's ban real life because it's realistic.
In games like Call of Duty, you're shooting at hostile soldiers with weapons who don't do anything like surrender or beg for their lives, they just angrily shoot at you until they die.
First, police officers/military men have families too. What makes it morally acceptable to murder them in military shooters? Second, should we ban all military shooters because a lot of people died in Iraq/Afghanistan/etc, or should it be because the games are somewhat realistic looking and with each year try to look even more realistic?
In GTA, civilians can be hostile even if you just stare at them long enough, but the game doesn't force you to kill any. Normally when threatened, they just run away, maybe screaming some. If you play anything like I do, you tend to avoid shooting at civilians unless you're attacked or something.
Yes, YOU play that way, just because you have a certain playstyle, doesn't mean everyone should. I used to just start random mayhems on the street in GTA 3, 4, whatever and kill everyone. Did that turn me into a psycho killer? No.
However, here the entire goal is to kill a bunch of innocent civilians for no reason at all. In the trailer, there's several scenes where there's a civilian begging for mercy while the main character ignores them and places a bullet in their head at point-blank or something. I think that's what the worst thing is about this game.
Refer to: "Oh, you mean they're trying to make the game look realistic?".
GTA even isn't this violent or graphic for the most part, and certainly not towards civilians.
Again, how is killing NPCs in other games, be it cops or whatever (that have families as well), any more morally acceptable? You guys have such huge double standards, it hurts.
you mean coldsteel the hedgheg
this game would be a 10/10 if the guy had a katana and said nothing personnel kid all the time
It might be even funnier to find out that the whole thing is a joke.
What if it is? Imagine. The game comes out, someone buys it and it ends up being something completely different. They just used the edginess in the trailer in order to get controversy and attention. That'd be amazing.
this game would be a 10/10 if the guy had a katana and said nothing personnel kid all the time
I really hope you get a katana at some point. It would be so perfect.
TotalBiscuit decides to weigh in [t]http://i.imgur.com/pvmqesS.jpg[/t]
The games industry is in a much more vulnerable position than the film industry is. What with the shitstorm of GG and the extremely aggressive ways in which a lot of gamers express themselves. So I don't really agree with his stance on this - these industries operate on completely different terms when it comes to how the world perceives them. And holy shit, aren't I allow to call out the creepiness in a bunch of white dudes making a game about how 'ugghhh I can't say nigger anymore, political correctness is destroying my great nation and I'm going to massacre people for it'. It's pretty clear from the trailer and from the blatant extreme right tendencies expressed by some of these people that it's not satirical. Is Total Biscuit saying that ethics in games is a non-issue regardless of what shit game devs decide to make?
I'm normally an ice cold motherfucker, but the young woman screaming 'please' as Tommy Wiseau puts the gun in her mouth is just heartbreaking I don't think I could play this game, I'd feel too bad for the victims
I'm normally an ice cold motherfucker, but the young woman screaming 'please' as Tommy Wiseau puts the gun in her mouth is just heartbreaking I don't think I could play this game, I'd feel too bad for the victims
I did not shoot her, it's not true! It's bullshit! I did not shoot her! I did nooooot. Oh hi, police officer.
I did not shoot her, it's not true! It's bullshit! I did not shoot her! I did nooooot. Oh hi, police officer.
Everyworm betray me. I fed up with this rotting carcass wuruld.
The games industry is in a much more vulnerable position than the film industry is.
It really isn't. What's going to happen to game industry? People will keep playing games and do it more and more as generations change. It is not vulnerable to anything. You could release some super sick baby rape simulator and it would do jack shit to game industry as a whole. The thing is, Hatred has zero effect on gaming. It just stirred up some controversy for glorifying questionable material. That's about it. It does not make games look good or bad, it simply is a thing that exists. I wouldn't worry about one poor taste indie game affecting industry in any way.
