Heres one where it is part of the main goal. Its pretty funny the outcry over Hatred is extremely similar to the shit that surrounded State of Emergency so long ago.

At this point I'm caring more about the parody montages
since this game is being developed by literal nazis, i wonder if you get bonus points for shooting minorities and women, and lose points for shooting white guys?

It's like saying Mario is a suicide simulator because you can deliberately jump into pits.

again you're missing why people are ragging on hatred. it's not just because you kill unarmed people
one of the reasons is because of the way the developers are advertising it by going "who cares about POLITICS in games??? it's all about the game *makes the most political game of the last 2 years*" then the fact that the game is taking itself super seriously, with no hint of humor, creative writing, or any sort of insightful commentary on anything.
will this game change games forever? probably not, so don't automatically assume that everyone who thinks this game looks like trash is a ~tumblr buzzword~. it's completely possible to be mildly outraged over one game for a short period of time, which is what most people feel right now.

How is this political at all? It just seems to be about mindless violence. I don't suppose you think Manhunt is a witty critique on post Marxism-Leninism living standards in Slavic countries, right? Because that makes about as much sense as calling this the "most political game of the last 2 years"

Its not political at all, the devs straight up said that, yet you are the one making it seem political.
The game isnt even taking itself seriously, you are just a fucking guy on a murderous rampage. Its literally everyone else making it a big deal BUT the devs.
State of Emergency wasnt political at all, you literally just kill people for points while trying to stop some trade organization because they called for the state of emergency. The game itself has like 0 depth aside from the extremely simple plot point.
There one in the same, the only difference is tone, and apparently this is what is setting the moral highground for hatred. Its okay you have done what hatreds done hundreds of times already in games, but now that your reason is you just dont care and ultimately have no reason its now some big deal?
The fact fucking Hotline Miami got so much praise and Hatred is all of a sudden so much worse is hilarious. You killing people in Hotline Miami was essentially for fun and because 2 people were bored. It really had 0 rhyme or reason by the end of it.

just because the developers say it's not political doesn't mean it's not political
and hotline miami had an actual story, characters with motivation, ambiguity about WHY you were killing people.
this game is just "i am mad.... kill guy.. with gun....."
actually, from now on none of my posts are political i am abstaining from politics, and in by saying this my posts now cannot be interpreted as political at all because i said so

You have a reason why in hatred, that reason is you dont care, you want to die, and you are gonna go out guns blazing.
Hotline Miami, two dudes in a sewer were essentially bored and made other random people kill other random people.

So, a game about mindless violence with seemingly no political orientation can be a political game?
Oooookay. Could you please explain what makes it political? Is it something the developers said?
You know, by reading the description of the actual game, I can safely say that people are over-reacting and are blindly hating on the game without doing any additional research, simply because the trailer is violent as fuck. Here's what the devs say themselves:
Hatred is an isometric shooter with disturbing atmosphere of mass killing, where player takes the role of a cold blood antagonist, who is full of hatred for humanity. It's a horror, but here YOU are the villain. [...] Fight against law enforcement and take a journey into the antagonist's hateful mind. [...] ...just don't try this at home and don't take it too seriously, it's just a game. :) [...] We say ‘yes, it is a game about killing people’ and the only reason of the antagonist doing that sick stuff is his deep-rooted hatred. Player has to ask himself what can push any human being to mass-murder.
Welp, looks like it really is going to be Postal-esque character development wise. But unfortunately people are too quick to judge, and without further research nor consideration blindly jump to conclusions.
In case I'm late, doesn't matter, point still stands.

"This guy is evil because he's just evil" is not a good motivation, it's still garbage-tier storytelling.

The Janitors reasons are no better than some asshole on a killing spree, both are causing random people to die.
And of course its garbage tier storytelling, the devs said they arent focusing on a story at all, and of course just killing for no reason is no good motivation. What is your point?

Game looks pretty awesome. Kind of almost seems like a spiritual successor to Postal 1 (in that its an isometric top down where you kill innocents).
Got to wonder about the gameplay past running around gunning people down though.

The janitors are asking people to kill because they want to get rid of the Russian mafia and by extension the corrupted/crooked relations between the US government and Russian government. They're using people's most fucked up fantasies about killing and being powerful so they can accomplish their own goals without having to personally kill anyone.
The people you kill in Hotline Miami are all mobsters, murderers, abusers or crooks. The game puts forward how much they deserve to die all the time, and what kind of horrible fate awaits Jacket if he stops (see Helmet, Richter, any of the other masked killers you find along the way).
Hatred is all about killing utter innocent, simply because the main character spites them. If the devs didn't want to focus on story at all, then why did they make it such a prominent point in their presentation ? Hell, if they didn't want to focus on story, why did they pick random civilians to shoot and not, say, anything else ? In other games they did (ie Necrovision, Painkiller) you kill fucked up things, demons and other supernatural beings. If you are actively going for a typical urban setting with typical people who can't fight back as your main enemy in a video game, you have to carry a message behind it and a damn good one at that. It can't be for shock value if the entire game is centered around that (see how MW2 had literally ONE level where you kill civilians, and it's the base of the rest of the story), and "the main character kills civilians out of spite because he's just the bad guy" is a really fucking bad reason.
Long story short, if you are going for a game where you murder civilians, there has to be a goal behind it, and a good story too. If there isn't any of that, then you're desperately looking for shock value, and as of 2014, that fad has already died out because we've all seen more shocking thing than generic edgy power fantasy #1,420,666 mowing down civilians.
"This guy is evil because he's insane" is not good motivation either. :P
Yeah, it's barely any better than lust for power. It's still shit tier.

Sorry if late :V:
This game looks pretty cool actually, gonna grab it when its out.
It'd be pretty nice if somebody after release of game would mod it like those guys did with cs :v:

All those police were abusers/mobsters?
The Janitors motivations are no more just, they use and threaten people to kill other people. You seriously did not get hotline miami if you think whats going on was just in anyway or any higher of a moral highground.
Long story short, if you are going for a game where you murder civilians then your goal can be murdering civilians. There is no law, no rulebook, nothing, the devs can do whatever they want with there game, and if they want it to just be some guy killing random people then thats what it will be.
It doesnt need a story, it doesnt need some grand epiphany goal, its a video game.
If shock value is dead and gone in 2014 then why is it clearly working and clearly getting you sassed over it?
It's interesting how developers succeeded in their goal of causing controversy so well. When I first saw the trailer I didn't think it would get so out of hand. But it actually got quite a lot of people steaming angry.
I'll definitely get it out of the hope that it's some kinda commentary/satire/ironic shit.
