This also looks pretty shitty.
It was also made by Rockstar Games.
Judging by the thread pages the devs succeeded with this already. Not to be an asshole or anything.
Judging by the thread pages the devs succeeded with this already. Not to be an asshole or anything.
yeah, i'm sure we all got epically trolled by them.
It was also made by Rockstar Games.
So was Manhunt 2, what's your point ?
Looks a lot like Postal 1 just prettier, but without the sexy voice that is Rick Hunter. :(
All those police were abusers/mobsters? The Janitors motivations are no more just, they use and threaten people to kill other people. You seriously did not get hotline miami if you think whats going on was just in anyway or any higher of a moral highground. Long story short, if you are going for a game where you murder civilians then your goal can be murdering civilians. There is no law, no rulebook, nothing, the devs can do whatever they want with there game, and if they want it to just be some guy killing random people then thats what it will be. It doesnt need a story, it doesnt need some grand epiphany goal, its a video game. If shock value is dead and gone in 2014 then why is it clearly working and clearly getting you sassed over it?
The police in Hotline Miami were all crooks, or so the game says. The point is, the Janitors have motivation, and to an extent, so does Jacket. Whether their motivations are actually good, and whether or not the end actually justify their means are important aspects of the story. It also intelligently questions how violent video games are, and how violent our culture have become - the last password of the game [sp]I Was Born In The USA[/sp] is also a strong message. The devs can make a game where the only goal is to kill civilians, but that doesn't make it a good game by any stretch of the definition, it makes it a stereotypical, pretentious generic topdown twin stick shooter. I'm not getting sassed over this game because it's shocking, I'm pointing out how shitty and ridiculous it is because the developers are desperately trying to be edgy and avantgarde when not a single aspect of their game has not been treated in the past in a better way. I'll literally forget about this game in a week and so will most people.

That is not avant garde, and they are not desperately trying to be edgy, its insanely easy to be that edgy, why do you think people have made fun of edginess for years? Also the guy in Hatred has motivation, we already established this when the MC himself said his motivations in the only dialog we have ever heard of him. Just because you dont agree with the motivation doesnt mean it doesnt have one. Also what are you even talking about, Hotline Miami does not intelligently question how violent video games are and our culture im pretty sure nothing is ever brought up or points to this ever. I Was Born In The USA is because the janitors are fucking patriotic, they are trying to destabilize the russa-american coalition and there organization is a very patriotic American one.
Why are you all so pissy about this game existing holy shit its just a game.
Why are you all so pissy about this game existing holy shit its just a game.
Rapelay is just a game too.
Ya'know, this whole "3edgy5me" thing is kinda getting to me. The voice actor is cheesy, but don't try to laugh over the fact that they managed to do a pretty disturbing game.
Rapelay is just a game too.
and I'm fine with it too
Rapelay is just a game too.
That's not even remotely comparable what are you doing?
That's not even remotely comparable what are you doing?
Pointing out that some games are really not worth making.
Pointing out that some games are really not worth making.
What's wrong with Hatred though? Plenty of games use violence in tasteless manners (and don't tell me Postal 2 is tasteful because it fucking isn't). So why does this game get so much hate?
It just makes you wounder why would someone want to make entertainment about killing innocent, begging civilians - that's all.
It just makes you wounder why would someone want to make entertainment about killing innocent, begging civilians - that's all.
Are you not entertained when you kill civilians in Saints Row? Or GTA? Or Postal? Or literally any game that gives you the option of mowing down innocents?
Are you not entertained when you kill civilians in Saints Row? Or GTA? Or Postal? Or literally any game that gives you the option of mowing down innocents?
The whole point of this game is to commit genocide.
It doesn't even look entertaining, it's a generic top down twin stick shooter like there's a hundred of, except the enemies don't even attack you.
we must stop this senseless violence. video games are people too! #notyourpixel
Are you not entertained when you kill civilians in Saints Row? Or GTA? Or Postal? Or literally any game that gives you the option of mowing down innocents?
Giving an option =! making it a goal and the only goal.
Why are you all so pissy about this game existing holy shit its just a game.
This has to be one of the dumbest and laziest excuses I've seen lately to absolve video games from criticism and critical analysis.
The whole point of this game is to commit genocide.

Giving an option =! making it a goal and the only goal.
...aaaand? If its fun to kill innocents in games that have the option of allowing you to do so then why is a game that makes it its focus so bad? Sounds like a match made in heaven.
we must stop this senseless violence. video games are people too! #notyourpixel
Literally no one said that or anything close to that [editline]19th October 2014[/editline]
...aaaand? If its fun to kill innocents in games that have the option of allowing you to do so then why is a game that makes it its focus so bad?
It's not the idea that's bad it's the whole retarded edgy background and the pretentiousness of the developers. Although a game where you can just shoot people that don't shoot back sounds incredibly boring past ten minutes. Prototype essentially gives you the same ability and is entirely centered around killing everything, but it's not made with pretentious ~games are too political and artsy~ message backing it.
It doesn't even look entertaining, it's a generic top down twin stick shooter like there's a hundred of, except the enemies don't even attack you.
Did you not see the police and shit attacking you among others? I swear you just gotta be spewing stuff you made up at this point.
Did you not see the police and shit attacking you among others? I swear you just gotta be spewing stuff you made up at this point.
Great, so instead it's just a generic top down twin stick shooter like there's a hundred of, with no gimmicks attached to it whatsoever.
...aaaand? If its fun to kill innocents in games that have the option of allowing you to do so then why is a game that makes it its focus so bad? Sounds like a match made in heaven.
Ethnic Cleansing had the killing of innocents. But i guess you're going to call that different because its racist. The whole point of Hatred is genocide. It isn't even trying to be satirical or even show that its bad.
Are you not entertained when you kill civilians in Saints Row? Or GTA? Or Postal? Or literally any game that gives you the option of mowing down innocents?
Shooting virtual things is fun (nobody knows why), but when the core entertainment is the suffering and begging... that's not fun and it shouldn't be.
It's not the idea that's bad it's the whole retarded edgy background and the pretentiousness of the developers. Although a game where you can just shoot people that don't shoot back sounds incredibly boring past ten minutes.
But I can clearly see from the trailer that there are in fact enemies who shoot back at you? Did you even watch the trailer? Also I don't see this game as taking itself seriously. If anything its probably subtly mocking edgyness but you're all taking it at face value.
Prototype essentially gives you the same ability and is entirely centered around killing everything, but it's not made with pretentious ~games are too political and artsy~ message backing it.
I think all they were trying to say is that they wanted to segregate themselves from developers who put great effort into giving context to violent situations and just make an extremely violent mindless shooting game. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline]
Ethnic Cleansing had the killing of innocents. But i guess you're going to call that different because its racist.
Well, yeah? No shit. The game was made by extremists and the sole purpose was to promote hate onto minorities.
The whole point of Hatred is genocide. It isn't even trying to be satirical or even show that its bad.
Hatred isn't promoting hate on a specific ethnic group or any kind of group for that matter. It's just a mindless action game.
No they clearly said in their presentation that they wanted to make a game that's artsy or political or colourful because apparently every game that's been made in the past 14 years are all politically correct colorful non-violent artistic showcases. They're literally calling their game a norm breaker. They're as pretentious as they're edgy. So basically, it's a generic shooter with a generic setting and an overdone theme that the developers are persuaded is the absolute pinnacle of originality.
There could be a deeper aspect to it too, like maybe they give some background to the character. When i was in school, i was bullied by some, and looked down upon by everyone, and i know some that have experienced that was well. Me and those other people have had hatred towards everyone so much that we dreamed of killing. Its way way more common than people think. Only a few actually go so insane that they would actually start killing people. But it does fuck with your mind, a lot. And so far, i think the game does a good job at portraying it. Just saying, the way this guy snapped and decided to go around killing people, is actually kinda plausible. Theres a lot of bullied kids who secretly want to kill everyone. But we'll see, i dont know shit about the game either, maybe its dumb as shit, maybe it portrays well the mental state of the kind of person that has intense hatred towards everyone. Maybe the dev's just want to shock people/make them think. Anyways, video games are just art. Getting mad over art is fucking stupid.
It doesn't even look entertaining, it's a generic top down twin stick shooter like there's a hundred of, except the enemies don't even attack you.
There are probably cops who attack you.
