That fucking Doom font at the end
Maybe it's a parody of people blaming the Columbine massacre on Doom. Maybe. Or maybe the creators just thought it looked cool and edgy.
Just pretend the civilians are anti vacciners/WBC/racists.
That would make it even closer to Postal.
there's having an evil antihero protagonist to make some sort of statement or emotional impact on the player (spec ops: the line) then there's this edgy garbage thats like "hurr durr i hate ppl must kill" gameplay doesn't look bad but in the context of the game it's just cringeworthy
You guys sound like a bunch of Jack Thompsons.
Sgt.Cortez took a downward turn since the splitter war ended.
You guys sound like a bunch of Jack Thompsons.
I think they are afraid of discovering their closet taste for violence.
Man, this game's taking me back. Remember Manhunt? Not even fucking close to this.
i'll be honest i've played tons of games that are all about murdering people for no good reason (Hotline Miami is probably one of my favorite games) but something about the way this game portrays it is just really unsettling
It's mostly because the NPCs are acting like actual people I guess? In stuff like GTA they don't seem very human like but the way the animations are in this game they're a lot more believable which makes it unsettling.
Perfect entry for "How to get media attention fast and free"
I just found it disturbing because it's actually fucking taking itself seriously. Like if you're going to do a mass shooting sort of game you've got to make it humourous otherwise it just comes off as psychopathic.
It's like postal with no wit or charm to it. Postal was already walking a thin line between 'utterly terrible and tasteless' and 'completely hilarious mind numbing fun'. It's like someone came along and kicked postal off balance with a wrecking ball, sending it flying into terrible land. This is literally made by an angsty 16 year old all the way. I have documented evidence that I thought this sort of thing was a good concept for a game at 16. Then I grew the fuck up.

This guy is just... Well, boring.
That's pretty disturbing. I mean honestly even in a game that's very similar to this, Hotline Miami we see not a glorified mass killing spree, but an assault on people who are armed, dangerous, hostile to you, and once the blood and gore settles you're left with a creepy, unsettling atmosphere that makes you question whether you're the good guy or the bad guy. Whereas with this it's just 'kill innocent people for no reason'. It just makes me uncomfortable. I mean sure, go ahead and make it, the act of creation should never be denied, but you should think about the consequences of the art you make, and I can't help but feel this isn't going to be doing anything constructive for anyone.
Controversy aside this game does look rather interesting. I don't really care what they are aiming for and trying to state with this game, it just looks kinda fun. Something that hasn't entirely been done before.

Something that hasn't entirely been done before.
Top-down shooters with run and gun type movement is both overdone as fuck and generally speaking a sign of utter laziness in design. There are very few actually good top-down shooters, and those are the ones with a more interesting gimmick than "you can kill everyone also there are finish moves".
http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/16/6989459/hatred-epic-games-unreal-engine
What a waste of the Unreal 4 engine
What a waste of the Unreal 4 engine
Funny how the game seems to shit itself framerate-wise when the camera zooms in for finishers, it's really like the devs have no fucking clue what they're doing and the only reason it's top-down is to hide that fact.
Honestly to me the game's design in terms of graphical style (i.e. Physx stuff, blood effects) and some of the gameplay (destrucable cover, execution moves) all seem like they could be pretty cool. That said just like everyone else I'm really against a game based around nothing but indiscriminate murder. I'll even openly admit to liking realistic blood and gore in video games and all that, but not when it's exclusively against innocent people. If it had gameplay sort of similar to a 3D Hotline Miami, with actual bad guys and reason for your actions, I might actually be pretty excited.
Is this trying to have the same message as Hotline Miami because they really seem to be missing the point
You guys sound like a bunch of Jack Thompsons.
It doesn't help that this is basically "What Jack Thompson thinks video games are: the game", only they're so devoid of humor or self awareness that they couldn't even call it that.
Fuck shit up the game, the dream is even closer.
One day we will have the time travelling viking driving an motorcycle off a ramp of corpses into an office building, who screams at civilians turning them into vikings as well If I could assist Extremejon in making this I would
The question you may ask is: why do they do this? These days, when a lot of games are heading to be polite, colorful, politically correct.

and trying to be some kind of higher art, rather than just an entertainment
And that's bad why?
we wanted to create something against trends.
There's a shit ton of games beating you to the punch, buddy

It's great. I love murder simulators but the context fits well making it OK for adults. Of course, there is a limit to what you should do
He looks like fucking Nathan Explosion
EDGIER THAN THE EDGIEST EDGE TIMES EDGE This could have actually been good if it'd gone from his monologue to some sparkly rainbow cartoon-violence gameplay, with Nathan making edgy comments the whole time. This just looks embarasing Like this but not Lego or batman: [img_thumb]http://media.giphy.com/media/c92aV18TsVJUA/giphy.gif[/img_thumb]

jesus christ, what the fuck. there's not even any motivation behind the character killing people aside from "blah blah blah life sucks". at least in hotline miami there's somewhat of a motivation, and the enemies are all mobsters or something. this isn't just bad and edgy, really I think it's pretty disturbing.

Dunno about the color stuff but it is essentially Pikmin except you play as the Dark Lord in a fantasy world.
It's been said many times before, I still can't help but laugh at the incredibly cringeworthy monologue at the beginning of the trailer MY NAME IS NOT IMPORTANT * in a voice that sounds like he smokes 100 packs of cigs a day * I JUST FUCKING HATE THIS WORLD
