Big mushroom turns you big, giving you 2/3 dice depending on which Big mushroom you take.
When you're big you skip over the star, so I guess he didn't want to risk missing the star.

They shoulda played some friggin mini games. Those were the best part.
They shouldn't have played Pokemon stadium at all IMO. Their serious episodes are never funny. The only VS series I truly liked was Mario Party.
