I thought that these felt pens I had laying around would be good for something... ... fucking retrying in photoshop now. I agree with Jon, I had the same relationship to WoW as him. Played it, had my fun, stopped playing when I reached the max level. Questing was the fun for me, not PVP or Raiding. But I can not fathom how he can not agree with everything Ego is saying because it is factually a manipulative game. Also that cat's look when Jon jerks off is just incredible.
There was a Cracked.com article a while back about WoW that explained why the author enjoyed it so much. It was pretty good. Can't find it now because I'm on my iPod
ehh all video games are manipulative if they weren't you would have no desire to go back to them
Any game that only requires one payment is not manipulative. grinding games you pay to play are. that's just how it goes. they'll do anything to keep you paying them.
i think they're a different kind of manipulative not in a 'i need to find out what happens next' or a 'i need the high score' sense, but a 'i need the best gear' sense i think media in general relies on manipulation of emotions, because that's how you create an experience
i think they're a different kind of manipulative not in a 'i need to find out what happens next' or a 'i need the high score' sense, but a 'i need the best gear' sense i think media in general relies on manipulation of emotions, because that's how you create an experience
But there is a difference. The manipulaitve design we're talking about here is manipulation to spend money for a product more than once. WoW is on part with commercials. It's manipulative and makes you want to spend money over and over and over again for the same thing, and it's in many cases designed purely for the sake of money and nothing else. Most other games are not manipulative in the same sense because you only pay for them once, they aren't designed to make you pay beyond that, they are designed to make you enjoy that one playthrough from start to end, and then you're done unless you want to play it more, but that's of no benefit for them, money wise. Although that's also changing for a lot of games with shit DLC which starts bringing them over to the manipulative side.
that's why i said it's a different kind of manipulation i agree and what i'm saying is pretty much pointless yeah. is spending money even an emotion? iunno avarice? [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] i guess i find it silly to dismisss something for being one kind of manipulative, when near everything entertaining in media relies on it in some way. though some kinds are more underhanded and dirty than others

But Dodger from Oliver and Company actually was voiced by Billy Joel, come on gam gromps!
Oh god why
Dang, unexpected [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] No more "Nintendo consoles only" complaining
i'm gonna HOOShsgfvh over these coins SHI
They will NOT be able to beat Sonic '06 in under 30 episodes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_rPxZHBPU5s#t=54s Stupid shit like this takes AGES.
i would not mind 30 episodes of sonic, it'd be hilarious
They did play on a Dreamcast before, so this is not the first time that they play on a non-Nintendo console.
Yes, but people would still say, "They only play Nintendo consoles (except for Shenmue)."
I hope they play a lot of sonic 06, should be really funny.
I get that egoraptor hates subtitles on games with voice acting but even if i understand english perfectly it can sometimes be hard to hear whats going on or what someone says. So I always put on subtitles when I play a game that has it, incase I misheard something. Plus I just like it.
The first thing I do when I play a game is make sure the subtitles are on.
Sonic 06: The Hedgehog Melodrama.
Ego loves being a pedantic cockbag about game elements he doesn't agree with. It annoys me, but it is Game Grumps after all.

so how long before they figure out who to talk to in this shitty town to advance any takers?
When I play with subtitles I just read it in the voice actor's voice. I'm not sure why egoraptor finds it annoying.
I don't like subtitles because my eyes instinctively look at them as opposed to whatever action is actually happening on the screen.
No way they can make it though this, I own Sonic 06 and actually forced myself though most of it, because at that point in my life I only owned 3 Xbox games. I barely made it out alive.
Pokecapn's crew took like 50 episodes to beat it, roughly 20 minutes each
Yea... but none of the Grumps have even touched it, ever. It's gonna be cool. I don't even mind if they drop this playthrough. I would understand them perfectly. The things I've seen from that game could make any cool minded gamer ragequit.
