Also I don't think anyone can argue that sonic adventure 1 and 2 are miles ahead of the shit that is sonic 06, no matter if they're actually good or not.
I spent so much of my life as a kid playing Sonic Adventure 2. Amazing game and it always will be.
Idunno if anyone will agree with me but I prefer the Genesis games over the Adventure games.

The main point of the discussion was 3D Sonic games and how Sonic Adventure 1/2 are the only real good ones (with the exclusion of Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors)

Well, it's pretty obvious they are the only good ones.
I mean it's hard for a game to be worse than Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed.
I should clarify that I think they're both good games. but I find SA2 to be a bit overrated.
I found the treasure hunt stages in SA2 to be worse than the ones in Sa1. And the mechs were not as good as Gamma.
I mean yeah there was Big The Cat, but his segment in the game was incredibly short.

The music for sonic adventure is fucking amazing
each song gave me a different feeling, the egg carrier gave me the feeling of loneliness and waiting, and the mystic ruins music gave me a weird ancient vibe

Now when I play a game all I can think about is fucking level design and how the designers put certain things in the level, when I see something like a massive mountain I'm like "nah they wouldn't make that a playable area, too much to do, and it wouldn't help the plot much" but when I was a kid I'd be like "HOLY SHIT THERE HAS TO BE AWAY UP THAT MOUNTAIN" and it'd be a massive mystery to me

For the record I also found Sonic's gameplay to be too much of a 'find the right paddle to bounce off of to trigger a 20 second sequence of bouncing off stuff and going around loops'
