I doubt he is playing seriously, most of the time they are just fucking around.
yeah but if they do that then they're never going to get anywhere. Like, literally they will not be able to go anywhere. I'm calling that the first time he has to fight two shield guys he dies immediately.
Oh man, this is like the first "hardcore" game they've played. I'm interested to see how long this lasts.
castlevania
I love how they are told how to parry to counter the knights, and it takes them 3 minutes to figure out thats how you kill them easily.
Ugh, they've started talking about control conveyance again. Once again, not everything can be shown through gameplay alone, sometimes tutorials are needed, else you'll be thrown into something that has unique controls with no idea what you're doing. Oh wait, they're being told and they still have no idea what they're doing.

Things like parrying and dodging are imperative from the very beginning of the game, so knowing that you can do it is important. It's not like taking two seconds to read a note on the ground disrupts the flow of anything anyway. In a fun platformy game it would, but DS is about taking things slow and being cautious. Unless you're fighting the fucking bed of chaos.

And Dark Souls works better mechanically than Demon's, but Demon's has some more interesting ideas. Honestly I think Dark Souls is so much better gameplay and art wise that it doesn't matter, but whatever. Opinions.
Demon's Souls feels like a Beta version of Dark Souls to me. I love both games though.
i couldn't stand demon's souls but i'm enjoying dark souls demon's souls is just pure bullshit, at least dark souls is hard but fair
The thing is that Dark Souls isn't anywhere near as punishing of death as Demon's(which is why the GG won't be able to get fucking anywhere). Dark Souls was designed in such a way that it expects the player to die, whereas Demon's just sort of trainfucks you when you do badly.
Only thing I really hate about dark souls is the camera. I don't know if I'm cursed but the number of times where locking on an enemy and turning around/dodging past him made the camera somehow lock onto my face or right on my back (as in I can ONLY see my back) leading me to a blind quick death has quite astonished me. It feels like it should be placed a little higher up and it would solve a lot of problems.
also aside from like world 1 and 3, every area in demon's souls looks the same they range from dark and slimy to dark and dirty

The reason the camera is centered on your back is so you can blind aim spells and shit. Did jontron seriously complain about LIFEBARS ?
Did jontron seriously complain about LIFEBARS ?
0/10 would not jolly cooperation
Did jontron seriously complain about LIFEBARS ?
I think he meant the one hovering above the enemy, not the one for the player.
Did jontron seriously complain about LIFEBARS ?
He was talking about how he doesn't like to see the lifebar of the enemies he fights, pay more attention.
To be fair the first area of Demon Souls is incredibly easy. After that when they have the choice of moving to other areas after the Phalanx boss they will probably end up rage quitting.
at least ego has played the game before and jon isnt playing
He was talking about how he doesn't like to see the lifebar of the enemies he fights, pay more attention.
I understood that but it's still a shit complaint. I don't think Jon really understood how hard the game is. Same goes for how he complains about button tutorials that indicate you what exactly every button does. For a game where you can die with a single mistake having such tutorials and a lifebar that clearly indicated how much HP the enemy has is mandatory.
The way that both Demon's and Dark Souls force you to play with forethought and to pace yourself makes me think they're both the best 3D Castlevanias never made, because they exemplify the very design choices Ego applauds in his Sequelitis about Castlevania Vs Simon's Quest.
neither of them really understand why the game is hard it isn't trial and error, it isn't bullshit deaths (for the most part) and it isn't rpg hard its keep up your guard and think on your feet hard, you have to improvise and exploit, you can beat the game at soul level 1 if you were so inclined.
Someone bought me dark souls and to be honest I didn't really stick to the game. Not only was the PC release extremely glitchy for me (camera that goes apeshit and character that's sent right off the map from time to time when attacking), but it just wasn't an enjoyable experience. I fail to see the point in playing a game if there is barely anything likable about it.
Oh god. Did they like just start using their PS3? Why wouldn't they have it set to the normal keyboard for text input?
lmao demons souls wonder if they try to go across that big open inviting walkway with a dragon hanging over it in the first area lmao that got me the first time I can't wait to see their reacion
the first time
but this isn't ego's first time
I understand why Jon is complaining about the button prompts, but as games get more complicated and require more varied input, it's not a bad thing to explain controls bluntly so that the player knows what they're getting into before being required to do it.
castlevania
stairs will be the end of the grumps
I understood that but it's still a shit complaint. I don't think Jon really understood how hard the game is. dudes ok save the rage for when you actually PLAY demon souls
