I dunno man, the whole point of youtube is that it's about as independent as you get. Anyone can upload a video. And if it's literally a video of you talking while playing a video game (as entertaining as that is), and then you don't even edit it yourself, that's kind of lame.

If you re-read his post, he explained why they would need an editor.

it's not a big deal, it's just that as far as editing goes, most of the time it's just cutting a stream into a bunch 10 min chunks. not all that laborious
i just assumed they would have done it themselves
but whATEVER

The whole point of youtube is that anyone, be it a single person or a big crew can upload videos.
I also think you're thinking of Let's Play as being some sort of quality content people pour their hearts into. It's quick work for quick bucks. It's the most trashy content you can find on youtube that you can legally earn money on. Except being a reply girl.
Also what the fuck does it matter how it's made and who makes it? Aren't you watching it for the content? Are you somehow watching it for the thought about how they have to hardcut the episode and time the audio to the video? And then slap some text or images on it occasionally.
Wow, a lot of work there, and boy does it matter that they do simple but tedious and time wasting tasks like that themselves instead of working on their quality content like animating and making comedy video reviews that both have a lot of work and planning behind them.

It's easy, but it takes a lot of time, because you actually have to listen through the whole thing to make sure nothing naughty is being said, and catch up jokes that can have images or text slapped on. Going through 2-3 hours of content and cut it is not hard, but tedious.
I think the reason they hand it off to barry is because he has to watch it and make sure nothing objectionable is in it, speed up stuff that needs to be sped up, listen to commands from the pair (like when jon said "we are gonna speed up and return where we left off")... and it's probably several hours of footage.
Jontron and egoraptor have more important things to do than edit video.

it's still independent; maybe moreso because they're actively using other community members in their project
it's not like they pass it off to some guy at Fox who edits it and slaps a Fox logo on it
there's minimal editing in game grumps anyway though
I mean maybe once every two or three episodes there's some yellow text on the screen and a rewind/zoom-in-on-a-funny-face but otherwise it's pretty uncut

These are kinda neat in style, he just doesn't execute them all that well. Would have probably worked better if he incorporated some mouth movement.
Back to Resident Evil.
REmake is by far the best of the old-school Resident Evil games. That being said, RE2 comes extremely close, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone arguing for RE2.
REmake is just dripping with atmosphere and I think it's the scariest Resident Evil, and to me the Mansion is just a far better setting the Police Station. The monsters are great, with Crimson Heads, Hunters (Always preferred them to the lickers), the monsters in the lab/power station. Some of the bonus mdoes in that game are a blast to play like Forrest mode and invisible enemies.
Resident Evil 2 has the edge in having a better supporting cast, better boss battles, and the two scenarios you can play through. EDIT: Looking back, it seems like I really don't like RE2 so much, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I just struggle to think of things it did BETTER then the REmake. Then again, it's a bit unfair to compare them since REmake was released years after two.
That said, there's so much to both games that I didn't mention which could tip the scales in either's favor, just little moments that happen that define each game, like blowing the shit up of the giant Alligator in RE2, or traversing the Shark Infested Room in REmake.

I think the biggest problem is that the animation style doesn't really transfer over to 3D well. That kind of snappy, storyboard-esque movement works best for 2D.
They're going to lose track very quickly if they keep making one-offs and starting new series. They should really either finish the old stuff or release like four videos a day instead of two.
Honestly I don't see the problem in taking more time to finish old games before starting new ones, they still end up playing all the games but prolongue the time it takes to play them.
It will just end up getting them more views in the long run, I don't see the problem. They could even dedicate one of the videos every day to a one-off, but have the other one continuing whatever game they left off on last time
All these new series just seem silly to me

It has a lot of potential, but it's like a lot of the other animated ones. Where they move the character or mouth every 3 seconds.

They've always had a lot of shows going on and going in-between eachother, that's Gamegrumps, a variety show.
The only series they stopped continuing for a long time for whatever reason is Banjo Kazooie. Kirby has always been a bit on and off, but they'll probably revisit it to finish it. And Banjo Kazooie is the only one they said they would finish, Kirby is just more of a "they probably will since they did it with the other Kirby's as well". Sonic probably just skipped this week's session of Grump.
Just because a game gets 2-3 episodes doesn't mean they intend to continue playing them. They give up on playing them when they don't feel they are that interesting anymore or just simply don't want to play them.
if they actually finish sonic 06' i would be amazed.. jon seems dedicated to beating it but they're on episode 9 and they just beat silver so really, it's gonna either be a very long series or they'll drop it some time later. the loading screens take up 1/4th of the time anyway :v:

Apparently once you beat the sonic episodes, you have to go back and play silver and shadow episodes on the same maps to unlock the actual final chapter. I'm willing to bet they'll not realize that and just end it with sonics episodes, but that's probably for the best anyways.

Yeah, either longer episodes or more episodes a day would work well. The way they record their episodes would certainly allow for either option.

oh yeah, that's right. i forgot about that. i actually beat the game myself years ago, it was so infuriating for silver's part.. i mean, the sonic episode wasn't really hard whatsoever... and yet, 9 episodes later, they only beat two missions and some random side missions. i actually hope they realize 10 minute episodes doesn't justify anything and they increase it to 20-30 minute episodes. it'd be way better than spending 95% of a video trying to beat one side mission.
i really want them to finish the universal studios playthrough, but they won't figure out how to cut the lines and what not. it's a top comment on the third episode, if they look at it, they'll be able to finish it within 5 more episodes.

Or they'll do a hyper playthrough where they speed it up like 30x with it playing the song while they're singing it both at like 30x or whatever too?

REmake IMO shouldn't be considered old school primarily because it came out so long after RE2. REmake is more like a not-so-canon reinvisioning of what the first Resident Evil should have been (minus the fucking stupid cemetary and giant iron coffin) and an example of what the rest of the series should have followed.
Resident Evil 2 also has the edge not only for the points you stated but the fact it has an actual total of 4 different play throughs. Such as 1st scenario Leon's story or Claire's depending on which disk you played first, then after beating the game you got to play the other side, ie: Claire's side of Leon's story and vise versa.
Claire in fact was a replacement character for Eliza Walker. The first version of RE2 was roughly 40% complete when RE1's director quit then Capcom decided to scrap the game and start new. That version was dubbed Resident Evil 1.5
Some video if you've never seen it.
Resident Evil fans have been following this mysterious project since around the end of June. People found out about this when some never before seen RE1.5 screenshots were posted on an Italian Facebook group.
Since then a few more screens have surfaced, but there is still little info on the actual group behind them. Supposedly it is a group of modders who have the 40% complete build of RE1.5, and are trying to patch it together into a fully playable game. It has been proven that they have extensive hacking knowledge (they've made their own custom editing tools), and are creating their own pre-rendered backgrounds to fill in incomplete areas (there are a few of these in the trailer, but they're so well done that it's hard to spot them).
I'm glad this trailer was released because it confirms that the project is still alive, and that they most likely intend to do a public release.
The Silver and Shadow sequences are far different as far as I know. Both characters have mechanics different from Sonic, especially Silver. You use Silver's telekinesis to solve puzzles and fight. Can't remember what Shadow does though.
Also I love the atmosphere that Barry brings to the videos. It's like he's some sort of interface for us between the grumps. So it goes through him to us. Kind of a weird idea, but it feels neat.
Barry adds a new layer of comedy, a more visual one. And he's technically kind of a third unseen Grump as well.

Rides motorcycles, shoots guns, and says "Damn" a lot?

Was that in Sonic 360, though? I think I remember motorcycle parts, but I can't remember if he used guns.

No that was in Shadow the Hedgemehog. It was on PS2 at least.
Yeah I know that, I played Shadow the Hedgehog on Gamecube. Just can't remember if Sonic 06 adapted to some of those features for Shadow's story.
[editline]18th November 2012[/editline]
For some reason I'm 100% blank on Shadow's story, but I remember a lot of Silver's. Even though I played them all and got the final ending and everything.
I wonder if they have a copy of Shadow the Hedgehog.
I was planning on sending them my gamecube copy.
I don't know if you guys have seen this, but my cousin made a GameGrumps animation
