Game Grumps - Cave Story
I don't think Cave Story has been released on something they can play it on? I mean yeah they could play the PC version but that doesn't really work with their whole "playing on the sofa" vibe they've got going on.
I mean they could play the Wiiware version I guess but isn't that version kinda objectively terrible?
Yeah, but they said they were going to try kingdom hearts so im excited for that.
Inb4 alot of gooby and danald jokes with Sara.

Steam has big-picture mode for that very reason.
I just really want them to play Majora's Mask and finish it. Would be so much better than the hell that is Sonic '06

Oh yeah I forgot that existed,
wait can it work with non steam games as-well as long as its in your inventory?
[editline]26th November 2012[/editline]
Do they even have steam accounts?

The free version of Cave Story runs in fullscreen by default anyway.
It's not that hard to jury-rig your computer to use a television as a second monitor, or just as the only monitor.

Pretty much all the commercial ports are, but the wiiware one moreso because it has technical issues in addition to just being lazy and sloppy.

The Steam release was fine if you don't have any issues with the translation differences between official and the fan-made

I am more interested at the fact that Dominic Monaghan is in it, than Arin Hanson.

well I had to make the post game grump related
Fire temple was hard? I'd like to hear him elaborate on that. Honestly aside from the Volvaiga fight I thought it was one of the most straightforward adult temples.

It's on Steam.

Also, Jon does, he plays Counter-Strike.
I'd love to see them play Cave Story, all that rage from dying endlessly on the last levels.

I don't see why someone would buy the PC version of Cave Story when the original is legally free unless they really want to support the original developer. I only own it because it was in the Humble Bundle at one point.
Also, I don't know if they're equipped to do big picture mode. They only just got a flatscreen TV for the grump room.

i watched him stream this. he was having a really hard time with the fire temple. fire temple is literally the most straight forward temple in the game in my experience, and he was having trouble with things such as "where do i go" which was often; "why isnt this mini-boss battle easier with the hammer i just got"; "why am i dying against volvaga when i only have three hearts"...
and the thing that made me turn off the stream was when he was like "where's the fairy?... in the room before the boss?" and then he walks into the boss room and looks around "WHERE?" and then after dying, "oh the left side of this room?", not finding it because it's on the right side, "what the fuck how am i supposed to fight this boss when i only have three hearts left??? this game is bullshit and doesn't put items anywhere when i need them". he never checked the right side of the room where the fairy was actually located. aaaaa. it was very frustrating to watch him complain about the game having issues that weren't actually there, just because he didnt search rooms or he tried using the slow hammer against a miniboss that you have to chase around the room

Improved Graphics. The graphics are a direct upgrade in all forms, and they take no artistic liberties; Everything is THE SAME, just higher-resolution.
And you know the god-awful Wii-ware soundtrack? Well, the 3DS Cave Story ALSO has new music, and it's glorious. CaveStory+ updates, and the new default soundtrack choice becomes this:

(The "Wind" background sound is an error on the recorders part, it's not actually in game).
So ignoring the god-awful change of the dialouge, it's really a great game, but I may be biased (just look at my avatar).

The original claim was that the new sprites were completely hand-drawn, which is a crock of shit since on some sprites it's really obvious where they upscaled it.
and you have the choice to switch between new graphics and old higher-res graphics on the pc.
i think????

Either way it's not like they used the Resize tool, it's p. obvious they put in a fair amount of work detailing the sprites.

Ego is rather clumsy when playing games.
Also I didn't hate the fire and water temple, the shadow temple in the other hand is the best temple but at the same time is the most rage inducing one.
I played the master Quest one, so I don't know if the original one is way more easy.

oh wow, that's kinda pathetic
maybe it's because Zelda is like the one game that I'm actually really good at, but I think if you manage to get that low on health in a Zelda game, especially OOT, you're just doing super atrociously. I can't remember a time in my recent playthrough of OOT where I didn't have at least two faries at all times.
again though that's probably due to the fact that I have that entire game pretty much memorized so I might be biased

Eshop 3DS or cartridge 3DS? I've been thinking about getting the Eshop one. I've got PC Cave Story plus but I find it sort of hard to focus on platformers when playing them on PC, and I have no idea why. Meanwhile playing things on a handheld can invest me for hours.

you being extremely good at a game doesn't mean every single person on the planet should excel at that same game, so yes, very biased.
hoping for sonic 06 later, or even better, if they got the codes to work for godzilla, that.

the master quest temples are all easier in my opinion, but have a lot more unexplored regions if you're not looking for gold skulltulas. but maybe i found them easier because i enjoyed the redesigned puzzles more than OoT's.
replaying the original OoT i had no problem with the water temple, but i can understand why they made the changes they did in the 3DS version, which was adding different colors to differentiate among all of the paths and hallways that look the same.
also ego isnt necessarily clumsy with OoT as he is either extremely biased and thus doesnt care to stop and think about his situation as much to figure things out, or extremely flustered over how this is zelda in 3D and that means not just looking at whats in front of you, but whats above and below you as well.
i just get the feeling im not going to enjoy his zelda sequelitis because it may be filled with a lot of "this is whats wrong with the game" when its not something wrong with the game at all. i think he treats it as a "2D zelda game turned 3D" as opposed to an entirely different type of zelda from 2D zeldas.
Yeah fuck the shadow temple. Playing the game for the first time on the 3DS(I was not a Nintendo kid) and I've just stopped because ffffffucking shadow temple.
