I thought the same, then my roommate brought his N64/goldeneye to our room. Its bad, real bad, horrible controls, laggy, ugly, bad. It did not age well at all. Now compare that to a game like SM64 or OoT, those are 2 games that aged well.

Wow, Contra 3 has an incredibly epic feel to it. Just watching how awesome all the different stages of the spider boss was and that thing at the end just made me go woah.

And I played it as a kid. I didn't play it as a jaded cynical critic, I played it as a wide-eyed excitable kid. and I didn't like it! It's not like I was unable to figure out what to do. I HAD THE NINTENDO POWA' back then so I knew exactly what it was I was supposed to do. I just wasn't having fun with any of it. I hated the time mechanics, the bosses, the dungeons, the mask stuff, just in general I didn't like it at all

It's one of those games where I can easily say "I like it but I undestand why some people might not", but overall it's a good game, with Ocarina of Time being clearly superior for me.

I've never played any Zelda games besides A Link to the Past. I've been meaning to but like I just don't have the time. I'm hoping to pick up an N64 soon though and grab those games to see what all the hubbub is about. Didn't get to play them as a kid.

Never played a single zelda game for longer than 15 minutes, I don't like the games nor do I see the appeal in playing them. I don't really care what game game grumps play, I just like to watch them play games.

I was horrible at it so I ended up giving it to a friend. The game was really hard to understand as a kid, but I kind of wish I had it still so I could give it another go. But it's really expensive nowadays. 40 dollars for a used copy. I guess it's understandable since the GC had so many good titles and is getting old. I don't even want to know how much N64 games are.
