arin's kind of a pretentious fucking dick tbh [editline]8th December 2012[/editline] and anyone who can't play OoT because they don't know how the Z-targeting works is retarded
he's a pretentious dick because he tends to often disagree with jon's tastes in games? a lot of jons favorite games have to do with them being "classics" or "they were nostalgic for him", and i find myself taking arins side more in arguments because he can ACTUALLY bring up valid points. jon really doesn't ever say something that makes me go "oh yeah, he's right." besides that, arin actually doesn't seem like a dick in real life. watch a few of his panels, he pretty much is the most easygoing person i've ever seen. watch the super smash brothers brawl video. arin was really spot on about his argument on wolf not being a clone, meanwhile jon was totally avoiding it. "i explained it earlier!", or "if the people really want me to say my reasons, i will!", and he didn't.
Well, if you ignore when he was wrong about some shared animation.
i don't remember specifics about it, but i know it involved a comparison of c falcon and ganondorf, who were literal carbon copies. wolf's moves were based off the same concept as foxes, but at least they changed what they actually did. if anything, falco and fox are closer to being copies than wolf and fox is. i main falco and fox though, and i noticed that falco's down spike is a shitload more powerful than foxes... maybe that's just in melee.
Before Brawl came out, there were rumors that Ganondorf wouldn't be a clone and he would use sword moves. If only.

Jon, I love the guy, but he's really nostalgia blinded. He raves about Banjo-Kazooie and OoT being the greatest games ever made when really we all know they're fine, but they're not the greatest games ever made, but hey, Jon played them when he was younger. Watch Sequelitis sometime and you'll see that Arin really knows his stuff when it comes to game design. Sometimes he's pushing a little and reading inbetween the lines too much, but for the most part he knows what he's talking about
Uuuuuugh wheres nintendolaaaaaaand

Is optical matter a thing?
i just think arin views games like some kind of weird game-design robot. jon's all about themes and atmosphere, while arin seems to look exclusively at the gameplay. OoT is undoubtedly a game about the atmosphere. as for OoT, in their LttP video he went on and on about how the Z-targeting in the game was poorly-done and that he found it difficult to utilize, and i disagree with that sentiment entirely. he also mentioned that the water temple was really confusing and difficult and jon's all like "dude play the 3DS one they fixed it", but later on in DKC he said the water temple was easy? am i remembering that right?

Falcon and 'dorf are blatant clones with almost entirely shared animations, but that isn't the case for any of the SF characters in brawl since they're pretty much entirely different in animation and function.

And not books or movies.
but.... gameplay is why these things ARE video games. And not books or movies.
you can forgive sub-par gameplay if it has a good atmosphere to it. gameplay is crucial, but it's not the only thing involved. it's like viewing a movie exclusively for the cinematography.

An example of gameplay done horribly would be Sonic '06, which does show throughout gumgam's playthrough of it. Also, why aren't we discussing the recent video? This is the thread about Jon and Arin's Let's play channel isn't it?
An example of gameplay done horribly would be Sonic '06, which does show throughout gumgam's playthrough of it.
To be fair though, that game doesn't do story well either. Or atmosphere. Or voice acting. Or controls. Hell, let's just say that until proven otherwise, it did nothing right.

I hope more Nintendo Land is on the way. I want to see all the games. I know I could just look it up elsewhere on Youtube, but everything tastes better with a dash of grump.
Is it like WINNER if someone post the new video in this thread? Fucking, just subscribe...
Is it like WINNER if someone post the new video in this thread? Fucking, just subscribe...
I usually just rate funny. Also, sometimes the videos don't appear in some people's sub boxes.
Is it like WINNER if someone post the new video in this thread? Fucking, just subscribe...
I don't see why it matters, this thread is about game grumps so it's kind of fitting if we post the latest episodes in the thread.
Is it like WINNER if someone post the new video in this thread? Fucking, just subscribe...
Maybe some people dont have youtube accounts. or MAYBE some people dont want to deal with the new youtube layout.
Is it like WINNER if someone post the new video in this thread? Fucking, just subscribe...
Maybe because when it's posted here it allows people to stay up to date if they've missed an episode, and allows people to have a point of reference in the proceeding discussions.

They should stick to really good or really bad games. This in-between stuff is pretty boring to watch.
Remember that knuckles video I was going to make but ended up being late? Well yeah here it is.
Can I humbly request a gif between 1:11-1:14?
Haha, just got a top rated comment on the latest sonic 06 video.
