Yes, but keep in mind generally YT's system is kind of delayed or time lagged. Meaning that most of the hits on one of their standard videos is the initial subscriber hits. Then after, you have either slow subscribers or collateral traffic. So in general 70% of their hits will be immediate the rest over the life of the video perhaps, unless it goes double viral later on.
The point is is that the views they get on that day's videos is about 50% of their total daily traffic. The rest comes from the rest of their channel. If they stop making videos for a day, they make 50% less, for that day. Which is about 350-400k views for that day lost. Which yea is a week's paycheck for me on average, but they still have such a huge cushion from their library of content.
This is why it's also good to be a very consistent channel like this, while fans don't want you to stop, you have kind of a financial safety net for a few days. So I don't think they were too concerned about taking a day off because of money, because in the grand scheme of things it's like, maybe I think, less than a percentage point of their income for the month. I believe it was more so they care so much about their fans and they know people are consistent viewers. I mean hell, in this topic people wait anxiously just to post their videos in here.
I think honestly it was indeed TGS coming to them and saying, "Look, we go this contract from EA, all you need to do is play the game, record it, do some commentary, and talk a bit about some of the stuff. We'll pay you 4x normal CPM, good?"
I got offered 3x CPM for MW3 videos when it released a while ago, but I don't play COD so I never posted any of them.
Edit: I'd like to point out that their subscribers per hour has over doubled since yesterday afternoon. I think this controversy got some attention.

You can find the statistics on his other videos. TB has a much more mature (in terms of age I mean) audience than your average videogame channel, because he doesn't pander to his viewers, he's frank and honest, he appreciates feedback (he made a whole video on criticism and the difference between constructive criticism and criticism itself) and when he fucks up something or does something he shouldn't have he apologizes for it, as long as he was in the wrong.

I still don't see why TB thinks "[i]Dudes[/i] watch his videos!" is supposed to be insulting to JonTron's video quality in any way.
Anyways, does anyone know if today we're going to go back to 2 videos or not? Have they said anything about it on Facebook/Twitter?

TB is ridiculing him for the low age of the demographics (which is sort of weird, but I still get it, even though it's just a superiority complex thing), it has nothing to do with what gender they are and I have no idea in hell how you came to that conclusion.
You would of think they already went back to a 2 videos a day schedule seeing as they were healthy enough to do a recording this monday... But seeing as they haven't gone there I guess it'll start up next week instead, probably to let Jon recover from his coughing.

All PR is good PR, gets the word spread around and makes people aware of their Let's Play Channel. And who knows, it could have attracted those people who thought they would only do old and/or nintendo games.

That is probably less about the controversy, more how they are on the first page when you search "Dead Space 3"; that is a big reason why people do these sorts of pre-release content. PewDiePie is only 2 videos above the grumps too.

No, he didn't pander. He tried to parody rage-videos, doing it in a sarcastic way to ridicule it.
But he couldn't execute it and it just ended up being a product of what he mocked, that's what he admitted in the Top 5 Worst Videos video, and that's why he thought it was one of the worst videos uploaded this year.

I don't think you've watched the NintendoLand videos where some of them feature facecam.
It would ruin the production of fan animations and it would make 90% of all the comedy in Game Grumps less funny, only enhancing those 3% moments where they actually do something physically.
Why would you want a facecam anyway when the focus is the game they're playing.
Whenever I see a new 20+ posts in this thread I keep hoping that the arguments have died down and that there's a new episode.
I know there isn't, but like a drunken college student returning to his empty fridge I keep hoping that every time I come back something will be different.
I dunno; it'd have to be in a format that plays on their strengths. For example, in relation to their logo, why not have separate facecam zones for Arin and Jon? Arin's cam could be on the left, and Jon's cam could be on the right; together those would be the Grump Cams. It'd probably require greenscreening; putting a green backdrop behind the couch, as well as putting a large sheet of green fabric over the Grump Couch to render it invisible.
Just how I'd envision Grump Cams to play out.
Also, speaking about Jon, personally I don't really like the whole black clothing look he's got going on, even if The Alchemist (Venture Bros, who else?) was right in saying that black is slimming. Personally I like the whole Original JonTron garb, with the shorts and the shirt and the cap; it is like how Omniknight originally looked in comparison to the upcoming Omniknight recolour.

Anyways, my point is that it kinda feels like JonTron's strayed a bit from what made him awesome. He's still pretty awesome, don't get me wrong here, but I honestly still prefer the old style of JonTron. Not just in visual style, but also in his review style; seems to me like me's gotten a wee bit more caustic over "recent" episodes of his show, whereas usually he seemed to be a bit "smoother" and "softer" in some of his earlier reviews, even when criticizing them. I dunno; maybe that's because the last two JonTrons were both point-and-click styled adventure games, even though Nightshade (Claws of HEUGH) was a console game rather than a PC game; for all we know his apparent causticity (is that even a word?) could just be brought out by point-and-clickers of a frustrating nature.
We'll just have to see how he is in the next JonTron episode to grace us, whenever that is, and all will be made clear. Hopefully. If he doesn't turn into Omniknight and join the Radiant, that is.
Also I can't be alone in saying that I miss Jacques, right? That bird's one of the stand-out "selling points" of his shows; a quirky cyborg parrot (parakeet, even?) that acts as a sort of futuristic straight-man counterweight to JonTron's funny guy.

Facecam could work on SOME games.
Like, if it's something with lots of waggle (like Mario Party 8, actually), it could be fun.
But they shouldn't do it for every video, lest we wouldn't have things like the birds and the trip to hell.
