I really wish Jon would stop saying "atmosphere" over and over again, and forcing his opinion onto Ego.
yeah banjo kazooie is pretty much jon talking about how good the game is and egoraptor pretending to agree with him
Yeah every time they play Banjo-Kazooie I just really want Jon to shut up for a second and let Ego play the game. It's just he gushes and gushes over the most trivial shit in the game and Ego's just kinda "yeah okay I'll give you that alright yeah" Like any given Banjo-Kazooie episode can be broken down like this: Jon: "Golly this game is just SOOO good, like I mean literally look at that squiggle on the wall? It looks just like a crab? LIKE A CRAYUB. Don't you just LOVE that?" Ego: "yeah uh huh yep I'll give you that hey you wanna talk about something oh no you just wanna keep gushing alright okay cool yep alright" Any other game is fine, but god these episodes just get on my nerves.
I don't think Ego's pretending. He likes some things, but he's openly admitted that some things in the game are pretty dated. An example would be when he mentioned the game's swimming mechanics.
true, but you can tell he is a little bit bored about jon creaming his pants over the music changing and things
true, but you can tell he is a little bit bored about jon creaming his pants over the music changing and things
I don't think it's so much that he disagrees, but more that he already understands what Jon is trying to say. He remarked in an earlier episode that Jon seems to prefer atmospheric elements in a game, and those are the kinds of things he keeps pointing out.

Jon said at the beginning of the Banjo Kazooie series that playing with Ego and Ego liking it is like playing the game for the first time all over again. He's just trying to point out all the things he enjoyed in the game and sharing it all with Ego while being flooded with childhood memories. It's a little annoying after five episodes but I'm sure everyone would act like that if they were in the same position. Now I wanna know how Egoraptor was clapping so fast.
It's pretty annoying. Also he's taking the backseat gamer role too. It's like come on, give Ego more than half a second to figure something out before you tell him.
When Jon was talking about the giant enemy crab part and how it's amazing, I was expecting him to talk about how the game is really light hearted, but out of nowhere it has these subtle dark undertones. At least it was like that for me. Look, you kill the fucking crab and you feel great, and then you realize it was PREGNANT WITH EGGS AND IT'S CHILDREN WERE ALSO LIVING IN THERE HOLY SHIT. Game is also like that in the sewer area, that part had weird atmospherics and that fucking metal shark where you could see it's fucking peeled metal skin on it's sides and it's fleshy bloody parts showing was fucking creepy. It's probably unintentional creepy though and it's just me making it creepy for myself.

Banjo Kazooie is an extremely creative, fun, platform adventure game, one of the last of it's kind. Even Jak and Daxter soon turned out to be sort of shoot-em-up and racing-ish in the sequels. Although there is a certain nostalgic bias towards the game, I feel like it's really a great game and although I wouldn't "force" my opinions on someone else I would be frustrated if they didn't feel the same. But I'm sure everyone has a game like that, but personally I've never met anyone who disliked Banjo Kazooie. I actually couldn't imagine what it would be like for someone in 2012 picking up that game randomly, like Ego is doing though.
I played Banjo Kazooie for the first time two months ago, and absolutely loved it.
So I was looking through my old shit today and I found both of the Banjo games. I've never played them. Are they really as good as people say they are? I really enjoyed Donkey Kong 64, and I hear that these are pretty similar.
It's a staple 3d platformer, of course it's good. One of the best games if not the best games for the n64. I started playing a week ago the game is very well crafted. Only bad part I have ever encountered is the swimming.
I miss 3D platforming adventure games like that. I mean, we've got Mario Galaxy (which I've heard is easy, and to me seems a bit far removed from traditional platforming) and Epic Mickey (which I've heard were glitchy games as well as not very good). That's basically all that's come out recently, isn't it? That sucks.

Mischief Makers looks like a game an indie company would make today.
Mario Galaxy is pretty much the finest 3D platformer ever made.
I'll have to look into it. It's still a bit disappointing to know that 2 series is all the genre has going for it right now.
I drew some fanart for one of the pokemons they made up. Hope I spelled it right.
I'd like for Jontron to turn down his nostalgia rushes and actually let Egoraptor play and critique the game. But in any case, I like the overall tone of the series; it seems like there is more game analysis being done than the other play-throughs.

He wanted to demonstrate the seamless atmospheric changes in the music so he chose a small area that's separated from the main world. The pirate ship that's RIGHT NEXT TO THE HERMIT CRAB is a much better example of that because there's no screen transition. Also am I the only one that found the shark fucking annoying? Every single time you fell into the water "LOL I'M A SHARK AND I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT FOOD!"

http://www.facebook.com/JonTronShow/posts/274243219358395 I like how out of all of the things I've read people on /v/ say about him, THIS is the thing that drove JonTron over the line. Fish for that sympathy, Jon. Ignore that criticism.
I felt the need to make this.
