http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIL24QvyIOg
It's not difficult to see why he took it down. He doesn't back up any of his arguments, and just rants about how he doesn't think the game is as good as people say.

At least he acknowledged that he was being opinionated, and was rambling instead of giving a reason for his choices. [editline]4th September 2012[/editline] actually, looking at this more closely, this looks like one of his more "older" material. He doesn't have his funny text having a seizure all around the screen. I mean his first review was just him bitching too as well. I guess we all have to start from somewhere right? [editline]4th September 2012[/editline] actually, I think I get the point of the review now. It's like some critical piece on the idea that we always praise certain games as "da best evah" even though we can notice the more nastier stuff of these games bubbling up. And when it's not the bubbling up stuff, it's the idea that some games get flawless 9's and 10's. Quite an interesting video.
Something to hold us over while we wait for the next video. [sp]Sorry if I got people excited :x[/sp]
I seriously love his intro
I think I admire JonTron a bit more thanks to that video. I love how strong his opinion is, and from watching that list I see a connecting pattern. A pattern of games that we like playing but wouldn't say is the best, games that were good back then but why would they remake it in HD is just silly, and how most people just say it's the best thing ever instead of it's ok, or fun, or just enjoyable. He's someone that isn't afraid to speak his mind give him that. Even if he's kinda rude to the fanboy, I can kinda understand that. Most fanboys are rude anyway.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIL24QvyIOg
He presents *some* valid points but 70% of it is just rambling about games he doesn't like and pretending his opinion is fact. I can see why he took it down. L4D2? Seriously?
He presents *some* valid points but 70% of it is just rambling about games he doesn't like and pretending his opinion is fact. I can see why he took it down. L4D2? Seriously?
I didn't like it much myself. I think L4D1 was much better. I liked the new infected, the campaigns having a connecting story going on, and Nick and Coach. Rochelle and Ellis were meh, the gameplay itself got repetitive to me, the graphics feel like there's some Vaseline on the lens, The guns felt the same, melee weapons could have been added before, shitty players you'd have to play with. Was L4D2 a great game? Hell yeah it was, I pre-ordered the fucker, that's how pumped I was. It was the repetition and the other annoyances above that got to me every time I tried to get back into it. I just couldn't do another run through the same section because other players kept screwing up. It went from being fun, to just wanting to get the campaign over and done with. Do I think it's a good game, of course. Is it Valve's ultimate work? Not really, they've made better.
L4d1 was fantastic, it has a great atmosphere, enjoyable and lovable characters, clean but "dark" graphics and along with other stuff made the game that much more enjoyable. L4d2 had really puke-green graphics, and a very un-eerie atmosphere that just drove me away from the game in general. It should have been dlc at least imo. It felt rushed.
On another note, Fallout 3 and even New Vegas. I fucking loved both of then, and still do. But I wouldn't call them the best games of all time. Jon also mentions the same points as we've all known that are iconic with Bethesda games, I.e. four voice actors that sound like wood, the infamous face potato, game bugs, crashes, mods (Nexus, need I say more?), and once again, repetition. Repetition is the final nail in the coffin for playing these games. You'll eventually run out of characters to create and just turn the game off because you don't want to do the whole thing again. It's a much bigger fucking nail in New Vegas and that's because the beginning of that game is a literal learning curve through the game map, just one long curve from starting town to Vegas to introduce yourself to the characters, etc. And you have to do this EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO START A NEW CHARACTER!
I liked both L4Ds, but the survivor bots were godawful, i usually played with my little brother and it was impossible to win some campaigns on expert without an insane amount of luck because of them. i dont agree with most of the games he put on his list, it just feels silly to me
Same here, but I respect it more for the idea behind making the video.
I understand banjo because it looks fun but I tried to play OOT in this day and age and everything about it was pretty much the same as in the Goldeneye bit, ugly, old and clunky as shit.
I didn't have a problem with the video before the #1. I mean, before that it was pretty clear that it was his ranting opinions, they were without any real arguments or points, but at least it was like "oh well, it's his opinion and that's funny". But going out on A Link To The Past was just painful because it was so clear that the only reason he thinks it's overrated is because he loves Ocarina of Time and he dislikes how people think Ocarina of Time isn't as good as A Link To The Past.
i guess its good that he can say what on his mind but in that video he just sounded like he made fun of people for liking the games and to "take off their nostalgia glasses" when he keeps rambling about banjo and OoT like they are jesus
Don't we all contradict ourselves at one point? [sp]Ok I'm probably wrong, but tell me it's impossible for someone not be a hypocrite.[/sp]
Overrated is when everyone and their mum says a game is the game of the century and it isn't It's not something you can really discuss though because to most people it's anygame most people like but they don't (see l4d2 which in jon's opinion should be less arcadey and have tougher zombies yet a ton of people like the arcadeness of it and moving down zeds with pistols or smgs)
Maybe he's just generalizing because it's just easier to go on about the group of faboys with rabies rather and explain the different kinds of people who's interest in a game ranges from not liking to considering it godlike. Trust me, generalizing sucks, even more so if people don't know you're just generalizing, but it's alot easier to talk about the certain kind of people who go raving mad if someone doesn't love Minecraft instead of trying to summarize the different groups of people that like or don't like something. [editline]4th September 2012[/editline] Of course he knows of that there are people that enjoy these games and don't go crazy if someone else says they don't like it. It's just easier to summarize rabid fanboys, and reviewers that give games 10/10 that's all.
I don't think Ocarina of Time's graphics have aged that badly. Yes, they're technically ugly, and Link's skin tone is off, but in my opinion, they've aged fairly well. Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye, not so much. [editline]4th September 2012[/editline] Well, Super Mario 64 in parts has aged alright, Bowser and Mario himself being the worst examples.

There aren't just better FPS now, more than a decade later, but there were much better FPS with the N64's lifespan. Perfect Dark and Torok 2 both come to mind.
I don't see how you could make a "Top 10 Overrated Video Game" list and not be opinionated in it. I'm actually surprised at how many of these I agree with him on, also.
J-j-jon?
I'm sure that overusing the word "atmosphere" was legitimately an accident.
Honestly, when I look at Goldeneye compared to, say, Half-Life... It aged fucking terribly.

the top 10 overrated video made me cry metroid prime, really jon ;c
That speech... Makes him immensely hypocritical for the overrated list. Other than that it's great.
Wow that overrated list was shitty, it felt like it was an essay written by a 15 year old trying to sound smart. I'm glad Jon's lightened up a bit since.
It is pretty bad, considering he even hates the video
Probably late.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIL24QvyIOg
I agree with pretty much everything he said.
I really hope the agvn endings are hinting towards something
