Well. I personally have never dropped my iPod Touch in the three years I've owned it. Of course, everyone I see always seems to have a cracked phone / iPad. Hm...
I dropped my new ipod touch 4, a week after i got it. It fell less then one foot off my lap onto concrete and now has a big crack on the side. I went to apple to see if they can fix it, and said they would replace it for 150$.
Fuck no, i just paid 300$ for it.
Also the best of the story? My case that i ordered online came the next day after i cracked it.
I have never ever seen a tablet with a cracked screen
I have never ever seen a tablet with a cracked screen
Well what kind of ghetto ass is gonna go around with a tablet with a cracked screen. Do you ever see anyone whip open a laptop with a cracked screen? Maybe you have, but laptops have been around longer too. They aren't like cellphones where they still mostly function because all you really NEED the phone for is phone calls. It's not like tablets have any other purpose other than to look at whats on the screen.
Where the hell do you work that you have that kind of shift on Thanksgiving of all days? I have never approved of stores that require you to sacrifice a major holiday and family time like that.
Walmart, nuff said, really. Last year they worked 6pm to 3am thanksgiving night, and I have a friend who does the same job at a different store, and they're working 6pm to 3am.
No idea why our store is doing this.
People who agree with me when i tell them they are about to buy a $500 piece of glass (ipad) and not buy a plan so if they drop it (which they always do) they will be sol. Also it covers a battery replacement and that alone is worth the money.
ripoff
protection plans and extended warranties are useless
ripoff

No they're not.
I'll give a good example: We offer service plans for cell phones at RadioShack. If you break your cell phone, it costs $500+ to replace it depending on the handset. Some verizon phones cost $800+.
You can get a RadioShack service plan that covers wear and tear, manufacturer's defects, surge damage, accidental damage, accidental water damage, and the battery (Get a free battery once a year, that's $50 or $100) for like $200.
I'd damn well rather pay $200 for a replacement phone than $500-$800.
Other good examples are our toys. For Christmas we have a lot of high dollar toys ($50-$100). Our service plans for those range from $8-$11 for one year and $11-$22 for two years. They cover all wear and tear, manufactuer's defects, surge damage, and the battery. Get it replaced for FREE.
$11 for an $80 toy is not bad at all.
I know where I work we have a replacement plan on hotwater tanks, some have lifetime replacement.
P.fucking nice if you ask me.

I fix my shit myself, I buy replacement parts from ifixit or deal extreme and save loads of money
Hell I could replace the back glass of an iPhone for 30 dollars
I have the misfortune of working at Wal-Mart in the produce section (the same wal-mart I was banned from for a year about 3 years ago :v: ).
One time last year, my friend in meats calls me over to help this woman who seemed to be too oblivious to read the fucking date on the products. At first she asked me about the salad, and I showed her the date clearly printed on the top right of the bag. Then she asks us to help her in the milk section. The meats guy and I look at each other wondering what this could possibly be about since clearly neither of work in dairy. She takes a milk carton down from the shelf and points at the label (note: were in North America) she tells me that this is expired the date read something like 08/09/10. I explain to her, no this is still a good product and that it's not expired, and showed her the date. Then she starts to get pissy and looks at me like i'm a stupid fucktard or something (while the dairy guy and i are holding back our laugher) then she starts saying she's going to tell my managers about me and get me in trouble for not looking after my department (even though it wasn't..) and that she is going to boycott our store. Then she pulls out her wallet and starts shuffling through her cards saying "I've got connections" and walks away angrily...
All i could think of was her connections taking a huge laugh at her as well!

Question for all you Best-Buy employee's. Is Best-Buy in the shit or something? They are supposedly closing all their UK stores, and a whole host of their America stores. Just wonder if you guys have heard anything?
Also, worked at Makro for 3 months. Decided Boss was a manipulative prick, and left. No funny stories to tell. :(
There are Best Buys in the UK?

I've never really seen where stores do good in the first place when they enter the international market. Some fast food chains do. We also have Best Buys in China now, and one or two in Turkey, and even one in Mexico City. Who knows if those will close down. As for Best Buy stores in the US closing, I don't know, maybe. There are probably a lot of redundant Best Buys, though. The store I work at is the only one within an hour in any direction, but I know of some larger cities that seemingly have just as many Best Buys as Wal-Marts. It wouldn't shock me if many of these redundant Best Buys closed down. As shoppers start doing more and more online buying though, all electronic stores are in trouble, not just Best Buy. We've already seen the likes of Circuit City and Sam Goodys go out of business and CompUSA filed for bankrupty and closed a large ammount of their stores. Best Buy just has the best quality of service (most of the time) and best selection (most of the time) out of any other big box electronic stores which is why they seem to hold their own.
I work at staples and some older man came up to me and said "Where are your shoes?". "Shoes??", i replied. "We don't sell shoes here.", he gave me a blank look and said "Oh, ok.".

I'm sure as hell he hears that at least 400 times a day.
The guy at the gas station always says "Thank You, Boss" to me. I'm there so often, if He's busy with the coffee, I just leave my money on the counter, and tap my Iced tea on the counter so he's aware that I paid.

My dad asks me "How many paperclips did you sell today?", after every shift. I've worked there since march ._.

I'm a tech consultant.
I keep a eye out for deals for my parents at work.
There's this nice countertop that got the backsplash knocked off that we are waiting to grab once the display it's being used for is done with.
I could never work retail. I'm glad the worst thing I have to do is sell ITAC (insurance tendered as cash) for windshields. Jesus, doing that all day is horrible.
But then again, telling people they have a $1000 deductible makes them even more angry. Lol.

Wait.
Insurance for windshields?
With a $1000 deductible? Doesn't a windshield cost something like $200 to replace?
The other day at work, someone asked me to explain the End User License Agreement on a GPS.

The EULA? Oh that's the thing that pops up whenever you install a program that everyone clicks right past. No one takes it seriously, not even developers. I once saw one that granted the developing company the right to your soul and all your material possessio- wait why are you leaving?
