Do you guys have any Nuvi 40s left?? No.. Why not?! I want the sale price! Sale started on Friday, shoulda came at midnight. Well why would I want to do that?? Then I hang myself
Why dont you just say you dont have the time for that? Your manager must be aware then 10 people waiting for you causes more annoyance then one guy not getting his xbox.
We didn't have a manager for Black Friday. Ours had quit Monday and our Interim manager had to work the mall store on that day. I tried to tell him I couldn't do that, that there were other customers. He didn't fucking listen. And I can't just tell him to go away.
Today was the slowest day I have seen at any retail store ever. For the last 2 hours of my shift, I averaged one customer per 10 minutes. It was miserable.
You think that's slow? It's not uncommon at my store for me to be able to watch movies on Netflix uninterrupted.
You think that's slow? It's not uncommon at my store for me to be able to watch movies on Netflix uninterrupted.
Dude, where do you even work?
Dude, where do you even work?
RadioShack in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
RadioShack in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Damn. I work at a grocery store as a cashier, so I absolutely can't do anything besides stand there. At least I got to leave 20 minutes early tonight.
RadioShack in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
I work in a town fourteen times smaller than yours during peak season and even I can't do that.
It's a culmination of poor store placement and poor advertising. Our store is about 15 minutes away from two larger, better RadioShacks, and it's not advertised at all. On the main road by the entrance to the plaza the marker only has signs for "Winn-Dixie", "WD Liquor", "PetsMart", and "Sports Authority". Which is horse shit because why does WD need to advertise their liquor store? Why can't the other big name store in the plaza get a goddamn sign.
Do all radioshacks smell like subway's sammiches?
No?
How is radioshack still in business
How is radioshack still in business
a mixture of them being the only place in some spots that sells actual electrical parts off the internet, and tech illiterate people making their purchases there the only reason the radioshack near where i am is still in buisness is because it's the only electronics store for a couple of hours
Because we actually do good business? [editline]27th November 2011[/editline]
a mixture of them being the only place in some spots that sells actual electrical parts off the internet, and tech illiterate people making their purchases there the only reason the radioshack near where i am is still in buisness is because it's the only electronics store for a couple of hours
I find this to be mildly offensive. We get tons of tech literate people in that like to use RadioShack for their purchases.
Ignore that guy he's just a poor troll. As far as jobs go, it is pretty common in the US to not have a choice. I work retail because I had been looking for a job for MONTHS and when I got a call saying "You're hired come on in and do some paperwork" I wasn't going to fuck around and be like "Ohhh well let me look around a bit first". Especially later when I found out I was picked over 3 other better qualified candidates just because I had spoken at length to the manager and had a well written resume. That's not to say I'm lazy, though. When I lived in Chicago, I fought tooth and nail to get a job with the BNSF Railway line up along the Chicago Metra line from Aurora to Union Station. It paid $25/hr and was unionized, but it would have been EXTREMELY hard work. I almost got the job. I wish I had, if I had gotten it I wouldn't have had to move away. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline] You think a 12 hour shift is bad? I'm working 4:30am to 10:00pm Black Friday. Fucking 17.5 hour shift.
BNSF Railroad Corwith yard in Chicago pays $17.13/hr, not $25. My dad works there and I'm starting the job in January.
It wasn't in Corwith Yard. The job I was applying for was $25/hr.
Ven Kaeo, I work at a Winn Dixie in Kissimmee Florida. I can't tell you how jealous I am that the WD by your Radioshack has a liquor store. There's always a TON of people asking for a liquor store, since the only alcohol my WD sells is less than 16 proof. We could make a ton more business if we had one haha.
I asked for the Thanksgiving break off from work, felt great to not be there for once. Dodged the whole mess.
Ok the manager just decided to lay off 3 part timers just before the december season. (Really fucking busy season) and hire 1 new guy who doesnt know shit about the electronics we sell. Now we have to work in this dude and work with 3 people less during the busiest season in the year.
A customer has started to show up regularly at my store. She always buys some kind of beer, walks out the door, stops, walks back in, asks to return it for another kind of beer. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Today her daughter came in and bought a 12 pack. Twenty minutes later she walks in, asking to return it for two six packs of the same beer in a more expensive package. Then spends ten minutes figuring out if it is a good deal or not.

Welp, I was sitting at the front desk filing invoices for new inventory. A women walks in, I stand up and say hello, she looks at me for an entire minute then asks me if we are open. I'm unsure how she came to the conclusion that we were closed when the door was unlocked, I was at the desk, and the neon OPEN signs were turned on. Then later on this evening some guy whom I rather dislike walked in, immediately asks if the Bud 8 packs are still on sale for $13.29. I say no, $13.29 is their normal price. And the conversation pretty much goes as follows: him: But they've always been on sale! me: No, they've always been $13.29, they were never on sale. We said they were a deal compared to 6 packs. him: But everytime I've come in here they've been on sale for $13.29. me: Yes, we sell them for $13.29. Hence why the machine says "Sale: $13.29" when we ring it in. him: Well if they aren't on sale I'm going to get them from the store across the road! And so he goes across the road and pays $13.75 for a Bud 6 pack. I was very confused at this point.
I just found out these two people are husband and wife. Glad to know how dysfunctional this family is!
Speaking of shit we go through. This morning at 7am some guy comes in wanting an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. We had them for $199.99. Our store had ONE in stock and we sold the rest through Direct 2 U (free shipping from our warehouse to your home, paid for in store). So by the time this guy comes in at 7, we're all sold out of those Xbox 360's. Everywhere. All the stores and in the warehouse (Mind you we opened at 5:30am). This asshole will not go away until I've called all 16 stores in my district even though there are other customers to help. He just fucking stared at me expectantly when I told him the other stores wouldn't have any and said "I have time". I wanted to fucking grab his head and turn it to the other customers in the store "You may have time, but I and they do not. We don't have it, get the fuck out." But I didn't. I called all 16 stores for this fuckhead and got the same answer "Out of Stock". So what do I get? Nothing. "I'm sorry sir. I've called all the stores in our district. We're all sold out." 'Ok' Then he walked out mumbling something about a waste of time and driving all the way from Miami (This was in Orlando area). No thanks, nothing. Twat.
I live in Clermont. I would have thanked you.

The last radio shack I went to had all 3 of it's employees eating pizza and watching football on one of their TVs (Including the manager), who would only vaguely point me toward the items I need, and then forced me to wait 15 minutes while one of them did a tech support call and the other two continued to watch football before I could purchase my goods (A $120 router). Needless to say, that was the last Radioshack I ever shopped at; I put the router down, walked out, and never came back. Staples is my retail store of choice as far as electronics goes now.
Last time I went to Radio Shack, I got some Piezo siren thing and just randomly set it off in class. It was meant for a home alarm, not a backpack.

That particular store might have been a hellhole, but that doesn't mean the majority of them are that way. I've never had a problem with my local Radioshack. Hell, that's the same logic that's given Gamestop such a bad rap.

It's a terrible company.
i want to work at radioshack now

You sound like all of those stupid customers that come in, blatantly ignore our policies, and then threaten to stop shopping here because we won't break the rules for them. Grow up bro. Just because you've had shitty experience with the same store does not mean they're all bad. How would you like it if I insulted your entire family and called them all a bunch of twats just because your brother was one?

Your company employs fuckwits and exists only to sell goods to the technologically illiterate. This is true for every Radioshack I've ever been in. (8+) Not once have I had a good experience in a Radioshack.

Don't be an idiot. The 'company' doesn't hire anyone, district managers do. And just because someone was hired doesn't mean the person who hired him is an idiot. It's VERY easy to fake how you are. Radioshack has some of the best fucking deals around for electronics. Don't give me any shit otherwise. I've seen the profit on our stock and it's fucking abysmal. You know how much we make on TV's? $2 if it's brand new and sold at full price. If it's on sale or on clearance we LOSE money. Same goes for laptops, cameras, cell phones, gps devices, tablets, and most every other large electronic device we have. The only thing we make money on is parts, batteries, and cables, and that's true of every store everywhere. So take your uneducated bullshit elsewhere you consumer twit.

I can tell you one thing though, if I had to work a retail job I'd work at radioshack in a heart beat. Pizza and football all dang day, and I don't even have to know where products are located in the store. Excellent.
