1- Best Buy's prices are not actually better. On more occasions than I can count, our prices have been lower 2- Best Buy's employees really don't give a shit about you, and will attempt to upsell you or give you something you don't need, because they work in a more competitive/commission based environment 3- Best Buy employees are forced to shove credit card applications and other useless drivel down your throat and if they don't they get fired without notice (Mostly the company but that's still shitty) 4- Best Buy's selection is only broader than RadioShack's because they have huge fucking stores. Compared to the size of our stores, our selection is actually larger on a ratio basis. On average stores have over 4,000 different items crammed into ~2,000 square feet, compared to BB's 15,000ish items in an on average 32,000 square foot store. 5- If a store has to offer price matching its' because their prices aren't the lowest and they know it. 6- From my experience RadioShack employees are more knowledgeable about more things than Best Buy employees. Not to mention we have one section to our store and we all know it, compared to Best Buy's multiple sections with employees who are like "Uhhh hur well I dunno I'm actually from ass kissing and this here is butt licking let me get Bob he works in this area" 7- Geek Squad is by far the worst, most terrible business venture I have ever seen. They put more emphasis on selling useless shit to the customer than fixing their problem. I had a man come into our store once to get help with his DVD/VHS combo player that Best Buy 'fixed' for $180, and it still didn't work.
1-I guess people see what they want to see because I can say the exact opposite about our prices being regularly lower than Radioshacks. 2-Wow, just wow. Best Buy employees don't make commission. Where the fuck did you hear that? 3-True, credit card applications are a driving factor of our business and we are encouarged to ask all shoppers if they would like to apply for a card, but nobody would ever get fired without notice for not offering credit cards. 4-Yes 5-You can't expect a company to know what every single price of every item that their competitors are offering can you? Not to mention different companies use different vendors so they might be buying the items at higher or lower prices to begin with. However in an effort to keep customers, any store would be stupid not to price match even if it meant they would be losing money on the item. 6-Once again people see what they want to see I suppose, because in my experience Best Buy employees are more knowledgable. And how the fuck do you expect someone to know about every single item in a store as lorge as Best Buy anyway. You conceded that Best Buy is a mutch larger store. There is more shit in my computer department alone than your entire Radio Shack. You expect me to also know the product of every god damn thing in every other department too? Would you rather talk to a salesperson who have specific knowledge about a few products, or general knowledge about all products? 7- Yea Geek Squad is pretty fucking terrible. I have no problem saying that even though I work for Best Buy. Anyway, for someone who likes to try to call other people out on their bullshit, you play up a lot of bullshit yourself.
This argument is hilarious because the fact that anyone would genuinely want to defend a retail outlet they work for is amazing to me.
Kaeo, srop being so fucking anal about everything. People are allowed to have opinions.
I chimed in not for pride, but in an effort to attempt at vanquishing ignorance on the internet. Just because something is irrelevent doesn't mean it's okay to make shit up about the subject. I'll be the first to say that Best Buy is a pretty terrible company to work for, but it's not for any of the reasons being thrown around. That aside, I love shopping there, before I worked there, now, and I'm sure it will be my electronics store of choice even after I quit/am fired. It's just a matter of time before there is no such thing as a big box electronics store anymore though (best buy, staples, office depot are just a few of the remaining ones) as more and more people switch to online shopping where all the information about the product is right there on the page, customer reviews are easily accessable, and the prices are ALWAYS better since online doesn't have to worry about the same stuff as brick and morter.

This is the first year that this has happened since the internet started, but the ammount of people who buy all their stuff online has decreased by 15% and we actually do see that back in the shop I work in. Analyst say that the stores that are going to survive are the ones with a large online presence and a knowledgable/friendly personell in the stores. The shops that will die out are the box shoving company's with 0 knowledge (like media market) because they are easily replaced by the internet. Oh and to come back on the first part of your post. I would totally shop at the store I work at but I do hate working here (as opposed to the now bankrupt company I worked for the 4 years before this.)

tell them to get their asses into the northeast, they could pull the rug out from best buy entirely

One of the few places you can actually buy a motherboard in the store. And a CPU, a case, fans...
I like memory express for computer parts, there's only a few in canada but it's like newegg setup physical store.
So, uh, feel free to ask a uk McDonalds employee whatever you so desire.

What are the good and or bad parts of your job? the typical questions.
You get some utter assholes, being on lobby (cleaning tables and shit) really puts you in contatct with them, earlier today an order to a car it was wrong, not my fault, but the woman shouted at me, her husband was nice about it, overall people don't realise how hard you work. My boss is a really nice guy, but some of the managers are just horrible. Good parts are really just some of the people you work with, and even then there's some arses, as for bad, it almost all is, it's boring, repetitive and any sign of hard work will result in them increasingly taking the piss.
is there really free refills on drinks because all my friends get them but the asshole lady won't give me them
Why do McDonalds employees always forget to give you the tomato sauce you ordered? Is it contageous or something? It happens every time.
Speaking of shit we go through. This morning at 7am some guy comes in wanting an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. We had them for $199.99. Our store had ONE in stock and we sold the rest through Direct 2 U (free shipping from our warehouse to your home, paid for in store). So by the time this guy comes in at 7, we're all sold out of those Xbox 360's. Everywhere. All the stores and in the warehouse (Mind you we opened at 5:30am). This asshole will not go away until I've called all 16 stores in my district even though there are other customers to help. He just fucking stared at me expectantly when I told him the other stores wouldn't have any and said "I have time". I wanted to fucking grab his head and turn it to the other customers in the store "You may have time, but I and they do not. We don't have it, get the fuck out." But I didn't. I called all 16 stores for this fuckhead and got the same answer "Out of Stock". So what do I get? Nothing. "I'm sorry sir. I've called all the stores in our district. We're all sold out." 'Ok' Then he walked out mumbling something about a waste of time and driving all the way from Miami (This was in Orlando area). No thanks, nothing. Twat.
After about 3 stores I would have told them that I called all the stores

Annything you can tell us about the quality of the food there? And is it jut me or has the taste of burgers changed since last year (for the worse)?
Woman comes into the store complaining about some spray can whip cream not working Now because anything can be considered a loss I decided to go test it She got p angry and said, "WTF YOU DON'T TRUST ME?!?!?!?" I said, with the nicest tone I could, "Well technically I'm not really allowed to trust anyone, but it's just that if I could find out what's wrong you'd get your whipped cream and we won't lose money, but if it doesn't work then you can just go in and take a new one!" She got pretty pissed off and said that I was being very rude and what not. I don't think I was being rude, I just had a valid point. Either way she was pretty well annoyed for 2 months and then she got over it.

Regarding page 25, I wasn't aware GD had turned into Mass Debate.
"I had one bad experience now every single one of these stores is terrible because it's obviously the company and not just the people that worked at that store." You sound like all of those stupid customers that come in, blatantly ignore our policies, and then threaten to stop shopping here because we won't break the rules for them. Grow up bro. [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] Hey buddy how about you shut the fuck up about the company I work for, eh? Nothing wrong with my store. Just because you've had shitty experience with the same store does not mean they're all bad. How would you like it if I insulted your entire family and called them all a bunch of twats just because your brother was one?
You strike me as one of the self entitled twats you keep complaining about. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] On a semi-related topic, I'd like to share my experience on the customer side of things. A month or so ago, my hard drive decided it'd be a good time to stop working, forcing me to use up some of my savings to buy a new one. The first thing that came to my mind was a local electronics store - Plesio. I've shopped there a couple of times and I can't say anything bad about them. So, I went in and asked what they can offer - I was searching for a 1TB, 7200 RPM, 64 MB Cache disk. The guy behind the counter scratched his head a bit and showed me a WD Caviar Black which was pretty much exactly what I was searching for. The cost was 200 levs ($135) with a 5 year guarantee. I thought about it for a second and decided to check out another store which is literally a block away. It's local too, called Multirama, pretty much direct competitors. I told the employee that I want to check over at their competitors and I'll come back in a few minutes. He was pretty chill and said that it's ok. So, I walk in and just go over to a guy donning a red shirt and a nametag. I ask him about a HDD with the specifications and he says he has exactly what I need. He opened up a display case and pulled out - guess what - the exact same WD Caviar Black. I chuckled but didn't say anything. He started saying how it's literally the best thing for it's price and that it's the disk I need. I asked for a price and he just bursted out with 220 levs ($150). At that point I started laughing out loud. I told him that I've just been to Plesio and they offered me the same thing and he started flaming and swearing at them - "Why would you ever want to buy it there", "this is obviously the better store", "they don't know anything about anything" (yet they offered me the same product). I didn't even get the chance to say that it's cheaper there. After finishing his rant, I just sheepishly mumbled - "it's 20 levs cheaper there". He just blurted out: "That can't be true" and ran over to a desk with a computer, went on Plesio's website and checked the price. After a moment of silence he leaned against the wall and almost shouted: "Yeah, well I bet it's going to be cheaper here on Monday". Tough luck, mate, I answered. I won't be needing it on Monday. I turned around and went back to the other store and straight to the same guy I chatted with before. I told him all of this and he started laughing, saying that he's really glad they had the better price and all. Real chill and professional. I bought the disk and I've been using it ever since. Oh, and I went back to Multirama on Monday and showed the receipt to that annoying asshole just for the shits and giggles.
After about 3 stores I would have told them that I called all the stores
He was standing right in front of me, staring at me, the whole time. It was really fucking creepy. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline]
You strike me as one of the self entitled twats you keep complaining about.
I work retail and I know what it feels like to work retail. I would never treat another retail worker like shit, not even a Best Buy employee. Of course I'd never shop at Best Buy anyway, but the point still stands. We put up with more than enough with regular customers I don't need to make it worse by making a fellow retail worker treated like shit by what is essentially extended family.
I always love it when people ask specificly for me when buying something in the store, or want me to write down my name when I advised them so they can make sure they buy it from me when they get back from the obligatory price comparison site check. I also like it when they will still buy at the store I work at even when the product is a bit cheaper at our competitors. People tend to make excuses for going on their cell and checking the prices everywhere. When you make a lame excuse to go outside for 10 minutes we all know what you are doing. I usually tell them we have a shitload of perfectly fine internet pc's they can use to check the price. Hell its what I would do to. If someone helped you for half an hour or you know you are getting good service please ignore the 5% price diferrence and buy from the quality shop please.

'OH you helped me for half an hour thank you so very much, now I will turn around and give money to some other people for the required parts because they are cheaper'
Last year, the Manager and the assistant Manager of the bargin variety store where I work quit. Theb Easter Saturday this year, the ex-assistant manager came to the store came up to the current Manager asking weather we had any of these Cadbury easter eggs left. It was the last one on the shelf and the day before Easter. My boss responded with 'If there are none left on the shelf, then it is the last one.' The ex-Assistant manager that came up to me and I responded in the same way. The most annoying part of this is that the ex-Assistant manager had been woorking at the store before she quit for 4 years and countless years in retail before this. Both me and the current manager thought they should have know that if it was the day before easter, what ever was on the shelves is what we have left. If we had anything left out the back or on the overheads, it would have been a terrible idea.
