In other news, someone just threw a snowball at my store's window. I'm unsure where they got the snow to do it since I'm in Vancouver. The next customer who walks in I asked where I would be able to get snow from at this time of year, he misunderstood and directed me to his drug dealer.
I don't give a fuck if you are paying us to buy our items. don't fucking stand there if we purposbly have bags of paper and plastic sitting next to the food we just scanned for you to obviously help us bag the fucking 500 items you bought. Fucking hell I feel sorry for my cashiers when this customer just literally stares at you while you bag all there shit. Or the customer who fucking tells you to put what in what bag.

The biggest idiot of a customer came into my store I work at 2 days ago. I was called to the front to deal with a customer service call. A lady was wanting to buy 2 plastic storage tubs which had their price cut off them due to an increase recently. They are normally $15 but She claimed they were with the $8 tubs. She started complaining and claimed she had worked in retail before. We had a catalogue on in which it had a picture of a stack of assorted sized tubs with 'From $8' next to. The lady was insistent on getting them at $8 each, even though the tubs she wanted weren't in there. I went to check where they were and what price they were meant to be. As the store was being rearranged that morning, some products hadn't got their price tickets replaced yet. The tubs were sitting near the tubs that were on catalogue but there were a half dozen other products sitting near it as well that were priced. I asked my boss on the situation and he said we could only give it to her at $15 as the price wasn't marked in the section nor the product. I returned to the lady and told her that and she continued to bitch. She then went on to have an epic face palm moment when she said 'Those tubs are up on the top shelf along the wall and they are priced at $15.' She was right, there was another lot of the tubs she was buying up along the perimeter shelving, all marked at $15. We only had a few down in the section to fill in a gap while my boss and the area manager were rearranging it. She knew the freaking price all along and I presume was trying to scam us. She continued to complain by saying 'It is against Australian law to not show the price and that it was false advertising' (She was wrong). It wasn't false advertising as we hadn't advertised the specific tubs and it isn't against Australian law to not show a price on a product. I went and got my boss who came to resolve the situation. My boss just told her the same things that I had told her. After all her bitching and complaining she did end up buying them. What I heard from my boss after this, the lady had told him that she had been coming back each week for the last several weeks, BUYING THE SAME TUBS each week.

Worked every day except Tuesday last week (and working today (Monday), too). Only worked 28 hours in total over the 6 days, but god damn I'm tired. At least my next paycheck will be quite nice.

Had a lady go and purposely move a 75% off sign to some Christmas items two weeks ago. Christmas items were on sale, but nowhere near 75% off. I start ringing her up, she sees the price and immediately starts to throw a fit, telling me they're 75% off and that the computer was wrong and blah blah. I knew they weren't at that price, but just to humor / pacify her I went back to the Christmas section with her to check it out. She reaches all the way to the BACK of the shelving and pulls out a paper advertising 75% off ornaments and outdoor decor. The sale ended two weeks before. She was buying a tree skirt. I point this out to her, and she just tells me the sign said 75% off, it was in front of this item (yeah, all the way on the back of the shelf is in front of the item lady), and that I HAVE to give it to her at that price because the sign was there. She would know, she was "a retail manager for years." Tell her sorry, can't do it, it's priced as marked and that's what I can give it to you for. She immediately takes down my name and runs to the front of the store where she finds my store manager. She proceeds to bitch out the store manager telling her what a terrible job I was doing and that this particular item should be 75% off, and he won't give it to me that way, boohoo, etc etc. Manager takes one look at the item and goes "he's right, that item is standard price, have a nice day" and walks away. Lady is practically steaming at that point and yells after my manager "the sign was in front of it! You HAVE to give it to me at that price!" Manager turns around and goes "we don't HAVE to do anything. Standard price," and proceeds to walk away. So the lady comes back to the counter in a very pissed off mood and threatens me with all sorts of shit. Calling corporate, Better Business Bureau, all the usual stuff. I ring the item, bag it, and tell her to have a nice day with the biggest possible smile I can manage. Gotta love retail.

Trying to return empty boxes, trying to steal things, and worst of all she would damage packaging or the item itself then try to buy it at a discount. One day we were having a sale on Hamilton Beach stuff, toasters and blenders and shit. I was sweeping one of the isles and I spotted her pulling open a box with a toaster in it, taking her car keys and scratching the SHIT out of it. She when went up to the front desk and spent the next 1/2 hour trying to talk the price down because she would be so charitable and buy our 'damaged goods'. Mind you, the toaster was on sale for 19.99$, she wanted to get it for 3$. That woman was insane. And she drove a bentley for god's sake.

If I was manager, I know I would.
Can't you ban people for that kind of shit? If I was manager, I know I would.
My manager never banned anyone, I have no idea why. Almost everyone who was a cashier complained about her.
My manager never banned anyone, I have no idea why. Almost everyone who was a cashier complained about her.
That's silly. You'd think if a customer is that disruptive they'd get rid of them.
I work at staples, and the other day this guy came in with 2 typewriter ribbons and a page that he typed with them. He showed us the page, and it was obvious the ribbons were defective because the page looked horrible, and kind of difficult to read. We exchanged the ribbons for him, and he told me to keep the page. So I brought it home with me and took a look at it. Here's what it says (all grammatical and spelling errors were on the page, including the underscores and underlines). Here you go:
DEar We all weary of the hassle from the Prebytery? Would it not be smart the bite the bullet and find out precisely where the total menbership. Got paid $530(ish) about 15 hours ago - currently have about $95 left. Fffffuuuuu
It's a 10% discount when you sign up for the discount card. I never did it because I seldom buy anything from Target and the card only works when you pay in cash, which I never do, I never have cash on me.
At my Target, it was 10% off no matter what. If you signed up for their in-store card, it effectively took it to 15% off everything.
I push carts back into the store for my hardware store, a customer honks at me and waves me over to his car and he starts swearing me out, mostly attacking my manager. Next part is golden, my manager happens to come outside to see what is going on and he quickly ends with "Merry Fucking Christmas" and tries to drive off, only to have my manager talk back at him. He slams his brakes and screams "WHAT!?" he gets out of his car and he and my manager go face to face. I go inside to wait for the fist fight. (unfortunately it never happened) My roommate also thinks I make $40 an hour pushing carts......
I'm starting to think I need to see if I can't find a better job. Gamestop is...well, I used to be optimistic but I'm not really able to do that any longer. Zero holiday pay, zero vacation time (since I'm technically a part-timer), zero overtime, and the sheer numbers of shifts I've had to cover is fucking inexcusable, especially when I never call out, ever. Hell, worked 77 hours in a paycheck period, got $550. This shit don't work.

Really though, it defies imagination how people can afford rent, car insurance, food, utilities and the occasional entertainment on a wage like this.

Depending on where you live, a single apartment can cost anywhere between $500 (for shit) to maybe $1500 a month. Where I live, I don't think there's any apartments for less than $1000 per month, and that's almost exactly what I make, if I'm lucky. ...I'm starting to think you guys got it good.
$2800 a month for a 3 bedroom "queenslander" home with a small shed and small backyard isnt good haha. $700 a WEEK dude oh unless you mean the $2k wage from working in the mines, which yeah is pretty good. coal mining is a massive industry here. but for those who dont.. its impossible to live well. in my town the rich are far too rich and the poor are sadly barely living.
