I heard the end of a news report about it, got a 7 million opening apparently.
Me and a couple of buds watched this in a relatively full theater.
We waited for the the biggest moment of tension, and then we all screamed as loud as we could and scared the shit out of everybody in there.
1:18 of the trailer.
WHY THE FUCK ARE THE 2 GUYS LAUGHING?! Other that that, good horror flim, although the storyline makes me WTF.

That would completely ruin the experience for me. That's a real douchebag and immature thing to do.
I'm kidding. That's not how it ends, but if it really did end like that wouldn't that be a dumb ending.
Oh my fucking god. I was about to throw my netbook across the classroom after reading that.
OH WOW
Only one theatre in canada
[editline]11:01AM[/editline]
It's on the other side of the country too
Seriously, those of you who haven't seen it yet would be doing yourselves a big favor by NOT reading about it or watching anything to do with it until after you get to see it.
This is a movie that is going to get talked to death, it'd be better to see it before that happens.
Well I just saw it today and I have to be honest, It wasn't the scariest movie I've seen, well sure there some scenes that made me jump back like[sp]the one where the girl is dragged down the hall[/sp], oh and[sp]the scene at the end where she gets possessed again and goes downstairs and starts screaming,[/sp]christ I kept imagining myself as the guy going through all this shite.... crap I'm starting to get paranoid.
I should stop typin..............
As a viewer, it's alright.
Imagining being that guy, oh shit...
So I had quite a strange experience going to this movie. I saw it yesterday and today again with my girlfriend. My girlfriend loves scary movies but we had yet to go to one together.
About 3/4s the way through the movie she is sitting on my lap and slightly crying because she was so scared. I asked her if she wanted to leave and she said "no this movie is so fucking good!"
And as I am typing this I get a text saying "Cant sleep, freaked out, come over." So, I'm off.
This movie was extremely good in my opinion, you just have to let your guard down and get fully absorbed for maximum enjoyment.
Honestly, I thought the movie was really weak. I just got back from the movie and it just ultimately fails to deliver on the scares. I wanted to be scared so badly but it just didn't work for me. The only time I jumped was when I had something hurled at me at the end. I also thought the acting was mediocre and the characters unlikable.
But seriously, you have a haunted girlfriend, get out of there.
I thought this movie was extremely scary. The fact that it was filmed and edited in 7 days blows my mind, along with the 11,000$ budget. This isn't a gory CGI movie that throws disgusting, boring scenes at you throughout the movie, but keeps you on the edge of your seat by creating a realistic, eerie environment along with sounds, camera movements, and conventional visual effects that make the viewer shit his/her pants. I didn't shit my pants though. Or did I?
I give this movie 5 tossed boyfriends out of 5.
Quick Question: I know that most, if not all of the visual effects in the movie are conventional, but how did they do the scene where Katie gets dragged out of bed?:350:

I thought the acting was pretty strong, but some of the reasons for things they did things were kind of weak. For example the powder on the floor thing did seem a bit unecessary, and the fact that Micah didn't want to contact a demonologist puzzled me a little bit. But how could you not like the characters? They seemed very much like real, tangible people who are scared shitless.:butt:
-snip- I am dumb.
Saw this appear at my theater.
i might go see it even though i am easily scared
About the bf:
[sp]He is a nonbeliever at the start, of any 'supernatural' stuff. He's humoring his gf, playing along recording stuff as if he thinks they might find something(haha).
Suddenly, there IS something. However, that does not mean that something is a ghost/demon/evil/whatever. The bf just knows that something is going on here, that's why although he's paying attention now, he still is not taking it serious.
Then things change. Now his gf is directly attacked. This makes his ego come into play- no one is going to 'save' his gf except HIM! You think he's gonna let some pansy psychic or demonologist be the hero to his gf and make him look weak and useless? Hell no! That's why he starts saying stuff like "I'm gonna put a stop to this". He's the man, dammit!
It's only at the end that even he is forced to admit that there are some things beyond his control, but by then it's too late. And even then, at the end, he is undone by his mad rush to save his gf again, he just never learns.[/sp]
In short, I didn't find the bf to be unsympathetic or a douchebag at all. He makes perfect sense.
I only wished I saw it when the theater was not packed. Sitting at the very front with asshole girl teenagers laughing the hole time did not make me frightened one bit.
It's in theaters everywhere now, right? If it is, I might go and see it.

I hate shit like that.
Maybe I would have been scared if it weren't for the stupid shithead teenagers in front of me. I'm constantly getting distracted by the lights from their cell phones and their giggling. Damn I wanted to punch them in the back of the head.
Anybody watching it tonight at Scotiabank Theater? I honestly can't wait, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
Came back, not as scary as people said it was. The ending was the scariest bit
[Sp] when they heard that screech and found the chandelier dangling, someone in the theater dropped their popcorn. I heard the thud[/sp]
At the end people were screaming at each other to run out of the theater
Now I want to buy a Wege board, my parents said no. They said what happens if I do release a bad spirit or something
Just watched it yesterday.
I now wake up at 2AM through 5 AM , convinced I'v heard a thud or any small movement that could've been a gust a demonic sign.
Fuck you Paranormal Activity.
That would completely ruin the experience for me. That's a real douchebag and immature thing to do.
And yet sounds like a good idea to scare the shit out of a lot of people.
It it worth seeing in a theater, or will it be more enjoyable alone in the middle of the night?

Jump scares are not what make a movie scary. This movie wasn't made for you.

Anybody notice the Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference?
[sp]What is your name? What is your quest? What is your favorite color?[/sp]

theater is ok, if there arent a bunch of noisy, easily scared teenage girls to ruin the experience.

yes!!!!!! I did notice it!!! Ha!!!
The fact that this movie tries so hard to capitalize on how scary it is in its ads makes me think that it probably isn't very scary at all.

Yeah, okay. Go over to your make-believe girlfriend's house and pretend to have sex with her.
Make believe girlfriend sex is the best, she hardly ever turns me down when I want some.

The movie is a movie. How the studio chooses to market it is something completely different. It's not like the director guaranteed it will scare you.
just got back from seeing it and holy shit i think the end made me shit myself! :butt:
