I think the best marriage is one that doesn't exist. If you want the legal rights get a civil union, but these expectations that come with traditional marriage (exclusivity, obedience, so forth) are horseshit and have no place in 2011.
I'd rather have a close friend who is free to come and go as they please than a spouse who feels obligated to stay with me no matter how unhappy they may find themselves in the future.
Why did you stop being fun :saddowns:
Happy marriage is an oxymoron
My grandparents have been married for 40 some years and say they're still as happy as the day they met, and they've never fought over anything more serious than furniture.
You are wrong.

Fight the system Zeke.
Zeke when did you go from cool and witty to being dumb like this, honestly what happened to you
And the best marriage is the one that when both of you wake up, you don't want to see each other. But as the day goes on, you grow closer.
I've always been jaded what the hell are you on about
All of the expectations that come with marriage are religious in nature. If the two people want exclusivity then by all means remain exclusive - if that makes both people happy, do it. But if they don't it shouldn't be considered taboo.
I see a world without marital exclusivity as bad, I don't know about you
I used to identify as a liberal, but these days it just seems like liberal has all these "fucking do ANYTHING" mentalities. I'm not so sure anymore
In fact, I've recently found myself agreeing with conservatives on many subjects
So if the two people don't want exclusivity they should have to do it anyway because it's what's "normal"?
does "till death do you part" ring any bells
before you jump the gun and yell "religion no it's so wrong god I don't want to reply to that" I'm talking about people saying "I do" to that
does "till death do you part" ring any bells
that's really naive. the reason that there were fewer divorces 100 years ago wasn't because people were more committed back then, it was because divorce was social suicide so people just stayed in unhappy marriages instead of getting one
it's better to fix a relationship and be truly happy than to keep getting divorces and remarrying until you're either incredibly lucky and find someone you actually love or die of old age
