i remember this episode of the wire where this kid came into his room and turned on the television, then he switched it to his xbox and started playing halo
at the bottom of the screen there has the "Halo 2" logo in big letters. that kinda bugged me.
i know it was to show the youth's complete ignorance to what matters but to plaster the logo was just so corp whore
If it's pure advertisement then it can get annoying. If it adds anything to the show in any way it can be a good thing. The whole Restart or Quit thing was major symbolism to the show. Sometimes having real products such as smartphones and Coca Cola can help you associate the show with real life.
I agree. Breaking Bad hardly did placement at all. Much better than other shows. Eureka for example literally had boxes and boxes of Degree deodorant facing the camera and they said something like "Degree is awesome because bla bla bla". THAT is when the show is whoring itself out. Breaking Bad didn't do much. But it still irks me in the back of my mind. I realize it was just the pause menu though, and I'd rather it have a realistic game on the screen then a crappy fake one. Humorously enough I thought as soon as I saw the game come on "Wow, those are surprisingly good graphics for a show game. It even has ragdoll physics!" Then the Rage screenc omes up. "oh...."
the ending to "one minute", season 3, was fucking crazy. incredibly tense.
are you guys still bitching about Rage?
like zf911 said, the symbolism is great, and it was a neat little way to show gale's death from Jesse's point of view, having flashes instead of flat out showing you.

I just thought about something
If Hank checks Los Pollos Hermanos surveillance tapes for some reason, he can see that Walt went there (when he was looking for Jesse) and acted weird, there may even be footage of him going to Gus' office

I'm desperately waiting for Hank to find out the truth. You'd think he'd cover for him, but at the same time try to talk him out of it. But once he finds out Walter is his Heisenberg he could very well freak out at him.
I hate Gus for [sp]talking his way out of that. Though I liked the small hint of fear we saw in him while he was in the elevator. It's glad to see him not being calm and in control for once.[/sp]

I don't like Jesse [sp]lying to Walt. I hope he doesn't switch sides.[/sp]
Well, now we know why [sp]Gus fucked up everyone in the cartel[/sp]
That was I think my favorite episode of the season so far. I LOVED [sp]The Gus flashback[/sp]
And also the tension when [sp]Hank brings Walt to Los Pollos Hermanos, Bryan Cranston's acting was so good in that scene. Juggling between trying to make Mike not getting the wrong impression and playing innocent with Hank[/sp]
Shouldn't Gus understand, [sp]because of his experiences, that Walt and Jesse need each other? Even if offered the chance Gus would never work with the Cartel after what happened. He knows getting rid of Jesse means Walt stops cooking. He should know that it'll be impossible for him to manipulate Jesse.[/sp]
I was reassured in the preview for next week when [sp]Jesse said they would have to kill him if they planned on killing Walt.[/sp]

[sp]I think Gus will recognize the relationship between Walt and Jessie relates to him. However, keeping himself safe is priority number one. If it means he has to do the same thing to them he will. Which JUST made me think (while typing this) what if the season ends that way? Gus kills Jessie or Walt in the same fashion?[/sp]
[sp]Also, who else thinks that Walt's cancer has returned? I think he is trying to keep it hidden again[/sp]
[sp] I love how Gus is the business man and his partner was the cook, while Water is the cook and Jesse was the business man. Gus and Walter are the perfect match minus the whole killing each other thing. [/sp]

it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was the case.

also, what did gus mean when he said "is today the day?" right before the flashback scene?
maybe he means forgiving hector or something
also [sp]gus was obviously some big shot in chilie, probably a drug lord or something similar. hopefully they touch on that more in the next episode[/sp]

[sp]It was pretty implied when the don said "your not in chilie anymore"[/sp]
hence obviously
the don reminded me of the mobsters from always sunny

[sp]The flashback was violent as hell, damn good episode[/sp]
Man I bet the way [sp]Gus's friend was killed[/sp] will have something to do with the end of the season. The similarities between him and his pal and Jesse and Walt was too alike to just be coincidence.
[sp]It was pretty implied when the don said "your not in chilie anymore"[/sp]
Or he simply could have meant [sp] we're not going to sit by and let you sell meth under our noses like you could in Chile [/sp]
[sp]Are there any information on whether Don Eliado and the other henchman are alive or not? I might've missed something.[/sp]
[sp]Are there any information on whether Don Eliado and the other henchman are alive or not? I might've missed something.[/sp]
nop, we don't know anything yet.
Well, now we know why [sp]Gus fucked up everyone in the cartel[/sp]
Can someone remind me [sp] what happened to the cartel that "Gus fucked up?"[/sp]
[sp]Are there any information on whether Don Eliado and the other henchman are alive or not? I might've missed something.[/sp]
the guy that shot Gus' friend is the old guy in the wheel chair. im pretty sure the other guy was the one that sent the cousins after Walt and Gus had him killed last season I think.
Can someone remind me [sp] what happened to the cartel that "Gus fucked up?"[/sp]
[sp]Way back in one of the seasons I think he tipped off the police or something because a SWAT (?) team busted into one of the lead cartel people's house and killed everyone inside[/sp]
Yeah, the man that Gus was on the phone with last season when the Swat raided him was the third guy at the meeting. I don't think Don Eladio has ever been mentioned before, though.
Oh wow, I really loved [sp]Gus's flashback scene, especially how he seemed so much less in control and collected than usual. Particularly when they had his head to the ground facing his friend and he was crying.[/sp] Still not sure if I liked that scene or [sp]the scene where Jesse returns to the support group, for some reason I thought that scene was so powerful.[/sp]
Anyways, I second the notion that [sp]Walt's cancer has returned. In the scene directly after he gets his scan (I forget the exact name), he seemed a little bit off. Maybe I'm just thinking too much into it, but the timing to me suggests that not all went well with his scan.[/sp]
Also, [sp]any ideas as to why Jesse is lying to Walt? It doesn't seem to me like he's about to turn on Walt or anything. Could it be because of his issues with killing Gail and he's afraid to kill again?[/sp]
All my thoughts from the past few episodes.
Maybe because Jesse thinks [sp]Gus actually wants him as a member of his organization, and Walt's telling him it's all a setup. He wont turn on Walt, but isn't going to let Walt drag him down either.[/sp]
Anyone else think Gus is gay and that his partner from the flashback was more of a "life" partner?
[sp]Wasn't Don Eliado the guy Gus was talking to when the federales busted in and killed everyone?[/sp]
