If you thought the last 5 episodes were nothing but pointless bullshit, then you should really learn to pay attention more.
Everything that has been happening in the beginning of this season is now paying off in spades in the last half of this season. The slow burner episodes help make the payoff of later episodes all the better, since they give the action more depth.

The discussions, hints, and everything around the dialogue lead up to where it's at which is what makes it so good. You obviously don't know what you're talking about and what you are watching. It doesn't mean I am an easily to be pleased person, it means I understand the dialogue and what makes a show good, worth viewing.

To put my two cents into this argument, this season has been on par if not better than previous seasons. The writing, character development, story, action, and set up for the final season is fantastic. I'm totally engrossed in each episode, which is pretty rare for me for a TV show.

I've been watching since Season 2's premiere.
And yes, I think there were very few wasted moments this season. I'll admit that the show started off a bit a bit slow, but so did Season 3, arguably more so. But a slow pace doesn't mean that those scenes/episodes are pointless".

I really don't get how people can say it's not suspenseful. Sure, the beginning of the season was slow but it's all paying off and the show has always seemed well written. I definitely got chills [sp]when people started falling at the party[/sp] and the scene where [sp]where Walt breaks down was very powerful, he seemed very old and sick again for a moment[/sp]

I don't think looking so deep into things is that far fetched when it comes to breaking bad. It's a show with a lot of unsaid psychological reasoning behind the characters actions. It portrays that stuff well, it doesn't need to tell you what's going on in their heads, it shows you. And it works well. And sometimes it doesn't even need to show you. The characters are so well written that you can just tell what psychological reasoning the characters had for doing what they did. And sometimes it can be a little ambiguous, which sparks some nice discussion.
