I read a thing a while ago that said that NASA is selling the old space shuttles. But a space shuttle, get a spare engine free. Sadly, they cost Around $100 million dollars and the only people who they were really selling them to were museums.
If I was a millionaire I would buy that shit.
Obama cancelled funding to the Space Program.
Obama cancelled funding to the Space Program.
Be quiet no he didn't, he made budget cuts. We are hitching rides with the Russian to the space station
If we send people to Mars, it is going to be a one way trip. It would be cheaper to send 20 men there then bring 4 back.
I was meaning more like a one way trip to the sun or somewhere where they all die in a slow painful death
NASA is making a new type of ship, Thats all thats happening
[citation needed]
I would like to go to the moon someday but I'm probably being too optimistic
NASA should get some funding by making a space lounge that orbits the earth. Invite the richest people in the world to stay there, and then use that money to make better spacecraft. It sounds like a boxious idea, but there are already 1 or 2 companies that have made private spacecraft. So it's really not that far off. Speaking of better spacecraft, I heard about the idea of this small pod (pressurized, oxygen supply, etc) with a parachute in front of it. The space in between the parachute and the pod is 2 miles or so. A nuclear device is launched from the pod towards the parachute, and when it explodes, the energy from the blast propels the craft forward. Because there is no air resistance the chute would stay in place, and the ship could go at faster speeds than we ever thought possible.
Be quiet no he didn't, he made budget cuts. We are hitching rides with the Russian to the space station
First of all, shut up cause you're wrong. And there's a problem with "hitching rides with the Russian to the space station". What kind of self-respecting country doesn't have a space program?
-snip-
Basically, Lockheed Martin is making a new "Space plane" thats going to replace the shuttles. I'm pretty sure it's actually already been sold to them, it's just gonna take some time to roll off the production line. It'll be able to take off like a normal plane and be completely space capable. I could be wrong.
NASA is retiring because people are doing the exact same shit in their backyards. But its only the space shuttle program as stated before.
NASA is retiring because people are doing the exact same shit in their backyards. .
Yeah, people are making plasma engines in there backyard yo.
Almost had a heat attack there, if NASA retires, then what's the point in continuing humanity?
I'm pretty sure there's nothing else for NASA to visit after the moon. Mars would be awesome but in today's economy it would just be too much.
We already found two M class planets a derpa derp
We already found two M class planets a derpa derp
but theyre forever away
You scared me for a minute, but then I did some looking around then I realized that they're only retiring the space shuttle. :argh:
I think they should focus more money to NASA, fuck the greedy we can send them on a 1 way mission.
nasa said it's gonna be 1 way only
nasa said it's gonna be 1 way only
What's your point?
They found aliens, the aliens said we better not see you here again.
it could be all the reasons listed, or, more likely, it could be that nasa requires over 8 billion dollars a year in funding on average with no monetary returns Jesus christ, it's not rocket science (OR IS IT??!??!) EDIT: while what I said still holds up it just occurs to me that one years worth of america's defense spending could fund nasa for another 100 years so I guess maybe I'm just dumb.
Seriously, Russia wouldn't do a fuck. Trust me.
First of all, shut up cause you're wrong. And there's a problem with "hitching rides with the Russian to the space station". What ever happened to that Earth-like planet they discovered? Pandora anyone? :3
What's your point?
What he means is, If you go to space, you'll have to buy a return ticket.
First of all, shut up cause you're wrong. And there's a problem with "hitching rides with the Russian to the space station". What kind of self-respecting country doesn't have a space program?
Lmao. There is no problem with collaborating with the Russians. We've got one of the best space programs in the world and we're working for a cheaper alternative to the shuttle. It's ironic that you're attempting to tell someone they're wrong when you're being a country elitist. Do you think America built the ISS by themselves? Take a look at who contributed modules, and also take a look at just how many people have been up there and from what countries they came and landed with. American astronauts come back on Russian ships all the time. You're hilariously dumb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Space_Station#Pressurised_modules
