no harm is done, and you don't bother your friends irl that you may or may not have.

and you can rofl at people who do stupid things
I like it when people post about their personal life because it's usually retarded, therefore funny to read.
Advice, opinions, entertainment. Those are the only reasons I've ever posted personal shit, I assume most others are similar, except for trolls.
I miss princess Diana :(
Personal questions are fine, I just can't figure out people with twitter or facebook, myspace whatever kind of service where you share your personal information like where you go to school or where you live. And everyone can see this with just a signup and looking at your profile.
There was this asshole I wanted revenge on. Just by typing his email address into google gave me a fucking santa wishlist of information about him, figured out his house address, telephone number, SSN etc.
For attention. Most peoples "stories" aren't even true (Ryu-Gi)
People want people to care about them

hes fucked in the head though.
There has to be a degree to what should and shouldn't be posted, posts like "OMG i just got dumped" are just plain stupid and pointless, but posts that integrate a heavy discussion or debate are much more acceptable.
I have a pretty simple question. After reading countless threads about "I hate my friends" and "How do I impress this girl?", I find myself wondering why people resort to posting their personal problems and lives on a forum? Don't get me wrong, I've had occasions where I will be in a predicament and I've contemplated "What if I ask people on Facepunch?" Then I come back to reality. I mean, really; why would anyone on here want to hear some of these mundane stories? Must you really resort to asking a forum for a solution? I can see when it'd be appropriate if you had a community of close friends (as in you know them in person as well) on the forum, but in most cases; no one does. Some of the stories or questions come across as funny or entertaining sometimes I guess, which would make people disagree with me. Sorry for the random rant. It's just been on my mind for a while now. I don't know, thoughts anyone?
TLDR: Why post your personal lives/questions on a forum where potentially no one really cares?
a fun fact: posting like that used to be a banneable offense, now is not and people won't stop posting every blogpunch their brains can shit
I'm Internet exhibitionist, suck it.
I hope to be on here still by the time I get married. I will make a thread about it.
If I am still here by the time I get pregnant, I will make a thread about it.
Babies? Thread.
Babies talking? walking? pooping in a toilet? No thread.
Simple as that, folks.

Also if I get married to a guy with the last name Freeman, I'm naming my boys Gordon, Henry, and John.
If he is/was the type of guy I hope I'm going to marry, he'll have thought of that already and agree completely.

I would :h: you.
Most people who post about their personl life is like "i DO have friends and we DO have fun and I kissed a girl and blah blah blah i'm not just an internet fagot"
Very few personal posts are worth reading.

Only the really funny stories
Sometimes its nice to talk to someone when youve no one else.
Getting things off your chest to a large audience like a forum helps.
Personally i use omegle

Good point.
I usually just spout out my feelings to my furry friends because they listen :v:
Why do sites like Myspace and Facebook exist? Because someone will read them, even if they don't care, probably to make fun of or something.
To get an answer from a diverse group of people with the required life experiences.
They come here looking for advice, thinking they're going to get some; yet they get a bad turnout.
They just don't learn
This is a personal thread in the fact of opinion, not a personal problem seeking a answer. Every thread is personal; opinion or not.
You actually are asking many questions in the OP.
Because there is usually one serious, helpful response to a situation out of 20 bullshit answers.
Because it makes me feel better about myself knowing how fucked up some other people are.
"why eat cabbage when you can have potatoes?!"
85 percent of FP's population are computer geeks who were (some still are) teased in school and never got anything of that sort of a "fun real life" with other people. On FP no one knows you personally so you can reinvent yourself without being judged.
