Teacher assigned a "Tech Free Day." What should I do to get out of it?

Wow. You have to be pretty spoilt, addicted and fantasyless little shit if you seriously can't go a day without the things you listed.

I am even more disguted by the reactions of people to this.
Lets put it this way: if you use technology for the weekend, he wins.
I might be late, but a "tech free" day means: No artificial light, no heating, no clocks, etc. No matter how old a technology is, it's still a technology. If you take it to the extreme you can't even use anything that's created using tech and you have to go live in the woods... naked.

I completely agree. The assignment states I can use the obvious (clocks, artificial heat and lighting, man-made products), but I am shocked that they expect me to not use any computer whatsoever. I would be fine if I couldn't use my computer, TV, or Radio but I could use an MP3 Player. The only time I have ever had a day without technology was during a school camping trip. Though, they did use radios and mp3 players. This assignment is absurd.
Again, I'm going to fake a signature. Then I'll come to school around 11:30 AM, and use the excuse "I was following the assignment guidelines." And then, to finish the day off, I will refuse to do homework that involves a computer (and 75% of the homework is only available online).

yes, not using an mp3 player for a day, this is outrageous how do they expect you to occupy your idle time if you can't listen to music or go on the internet, monsters
If you can't survive 24 hours without a computer then something is really wrong with you
Go play some frisbee in the park or something

by the way you're treating this thing, you seem to use computers/the like too much already
Just do the assignment. If you can't live without technology for 24 hours then you need help.
Uhh I'm not really a gamer anymore but I still use the computer to socialize since I live in the middle of nowhere with people who do not talk to me.
Say you have a pacemaker.
Don't do this shit. As for the essay? Mention that technology is everywhere now.

Why is not using anything digital such a hassle for you?
Are you that dependent?
Sleep all day and say you turned off the alarm for the assignment.
Turn up hours later, saying you walked.
Turn up a few days later saying you had to forage for food otherwise you would starve.
Come to school naked and pokerface.jpg

Wait how are they going to enforce it?

Hell, argue that the essay is illdefined because we've had technology for millenia, and that electronic technology is vital to the function of a modern society.

Take your teacher's car battery out at the end of the day.
Have fun being Amish
Technology includes communication. If you can't communicate to your parents that you need to be without technology for one day, you can't get their signature for it.
Is this your teacher?

Lets just say she is a computer illiterate and doesn't understand how computers are used by modern society.
Just do the assignment. If you can't live without technology for 24 hours then you need help.
It isn't far-fetched to be using technology nearly all day, even when someone is exercising or working outdoors they will likely be listening to music or have a cell phone on them.
Go live in the woods and then LARP the games that you play. :v:
Punch her in the fucking throat and face. When she is in the hospital on life support, turn it off because of "Tech Free Day".
It's easy enough to print out a piece of paper with a fake assignment on it.
Call the board for this ridiculous shit.

Tell the principal then, she's obviously trying to teach something she knows nothing about.
I don't understand why so many people are bashing him. It's a dumb assignment and that doesn't teach you anything. Sure, he could go hang out with friends, but it's pretty difficult to contact them without a phone or computer, unless you want to go walking around town trying to find someone who is willing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting to give up modern technology for a day, because it's used every day and is usually what we base most of our entertainment off of. That's like telling a guy in the 1800's to put down the damn book because it's corrupting his mind.
I don't really see the point of this. Everyone uses a computer or television in some aspect of their life. They watch the news, or check email. Hell, I have to go online to work. This is just the teacher trying to teach kids how evil all this new-fangled electronicy stuff is.
Tell your parents it's an assignment for the whole family. That'll put them off it and they'll sign whatever they have to sign to prove you did the task, unless your parents are amish or something in which case you're fucked.
If they still agree to it just follow them around all day and shout at them when they use technology and say stuff like "NOW I'M GOING FAIL THE ASSIGNMENT WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?!?!?!?"

They will be wearing clothes.
A great deal of computation is involved in logistics, from ship navigation (which is generally GPS and thus based on satellites) to statistical programs informing people what is most efficient... as so on to the nth degree.

OP, you should print your parent's signature on the paper, to troll.
Read a fucking book you twat.
Most importantly, read Metro 2033.
OP did say this is a private school, so I guess they can pull these batshit insane assignments
I'm in a private school, and even then they don't pull shit like this. Actually, most of the stuff they do benefits us :v:

"But they're on my Kindle :crying:"
