Oh man, I missed this thread. Been looking into more traditional tattoos. I've seen a bunch of gorgeous Native American headdress pieces, and then I stumbled upon this.

I kind of love it, but something about it is a little feminine. I can't put my finger on it though. Wouldn't get it personally.
I also like this one and how minimalist it is.

Got some more work done on my arm this past weekend. Geodesic sphere moon inside an Icosahedron. All of this quarter sleeve is going to be red and black ink.
Looks great, digging the contrast of the red icosahedron!

Do you guys get tattoos just for fun and beauty, or do you get them because they mean something to you?
I'm about to get my very first tomorrow (today in my timezone), in 9.5 hours to be exact, and it's the Qlimax logo on my upper arm at the size of a CD.
I'm not gonna fill it entirely, I'm just getting the outlines and then shading it inwards.
[t]http://cdn.overclock.net/1/15/15fec5ec_qlimax_logo_by_halfingr-d2rk4bc.png[/t]
It means much to me, as I went to Qlimax last year for the first time, and I'm going this year as well, and I'm pretty sure I'll go next year and the year after that and so on. It was such an extremely awesome experience to be there, to feel the music flow in me, the spirit of everybody else there, the heat and flow of everything. I fell in love with that feeling.
Anything I should think of more exactly, than the standard things they and my friends with tattoos will tell me about keeping it clean and caring for it?
It's your body, they don't need to have meaning- they can just be aesthetically appealing to you.
Just don't get a shitty quality tattoo!
Also, I dig it. It's vague enough to where it'll look great even if people don't recognize it.
Blackwork DOES take a little extra care though.
I'm sorry for my face and athletics not being perfect like the internet wants everybody to be, but here's the finished work

Super happy in how it turned out, I let the tattoo artist do a little like she thought the shading should be, and I don't think I could've thought of it being in any other way to be better.
That's rad as fuck dude!
More added to my baby!

I'm planning on getting a heartline (schematic sinus rhythm curve), that starts with a normal line and ends in 1-2 of those curves, above the beginning line there's going to be a small heart. Can't decide where to get it, originally I thought on my wrist, but that would be insanely small and well a bit of a problem while healing with my work. Second thought was between my shoulder and my collarbone, but meh, since I'm planning on getting a chest piece in the future, I fear that could collide in some way.
And I'm thinking of making it look like a sideways "f", butnot sure about that either, because then it wouldn't be a real sinus rythm anymore... so, maybe some ideas?
hand tattoo's are a bitch, hurts like crazy especially around the knuckle area, lots of swelling and very dry afterwards
Always wanted a tattoo, I'll probably get one when I'm 18. Any recomandation to where I should get one? (Not too big, but somewhere it will stay the best shape for a longest period)

did you get a hand tat recently? heard keeping it moisterized with lotions w/out petroleum helps keep it in good condition

i had my right hand done friday getting the blackwork on my left forearm finished and left and and fingers done thursday and i use bepanthen (nappy rash creme) on my tattoo's i will post pictures of all of hem once my hands are healed
sometimes i use vaseline, too much seems to make the colour bleed but if its flaky or sensitive its a lot easier to apply, i have seen people recommend A+D ointment but that seems to be an american thing, bepanthen is the best imo but its really think and can be a pain to apply unless you heat it up with hot water first

So i'm quoting this post again because I'm actually getting this tattoo on my left shoulder on Friday
Only instead of a clone trooper helmet its going to be a boba fett helmet, and a different color scheme on the headdress. going to use it to start my star wars sleeve

yeah, ya dont wanna be using vaseline, thatll fade the color of your tattoo. not to sound hippieish but find some sorta natural based lotion

Just got this yesterday. The horns are even, the angle of the pic just make it look a bit off.
I'm happy with it as a start to my star wars sleeve
i want to tattoo my arms and chest but im dark skinned, what are my options? white tattoos?
ill take a pic, wait a sec, i dont really have torso naked pics
here

White tattoos? Lol wut.
If you have dark skin you can pretty much only get dark tattoos.
Your skin doesn't look too dark for coloration though.

i have seen some people with similar coloration and their tattoos look dull and green for some reason, if im getting some i really want to have an idea how they will end up looking, not going to ask a tattoo artist since he will probably tell me its ok just to get me into doing one...
maybe that pic does not make me justice since its from a bathroom with yellow lights on and everything
My tattoo artist has about the same skintone as you.
She has colored tattoos that aren't as vibrant as they would be on my skin but they still look good.
You could get white tats but it would look awfully strange
I believe white is quicker to fade than black too
On the plus side I think ink looks more "natural" on darker skin tones
You don't look very dark anyway so I wouldn't worry
white tattoos look kickin' rad on black folks
just saiyan
black ink tattoos would only really have a problem if you have really dark skin
ya look latino and ive never seen dark enough skinned latino for a tattoo not to show up well.
started a shitty stick and poke, going to post the results once i "finish"
I need your help guys.
Got a new tattoo on Friday, on my left shoulder. It's healing great so far, no complications. But due to my workplace I need to put some plastic wrap over it to prevent it from getting printing ink, powder or paper dust into it. So far so good, no problems with it either, but I fix it with adhesive plasters around. I tried different types (sensitives ones as well as normal ones) but my skin is itching and red where the tape has been, and after 8 hours at work that is horrible.
So has anyone an idea how to hold the plastic wrap in place without using adhesive plasters?
use medical tape, if your wraping the area rather than just covering it wrap the tape around the bottom of the cling film rather than on the skin

Hell yes, do it.
Judging by the dumb rating I'm guessing facepunch disapproves of doing your own tattoos. I say fuck that, I'd rather do my own than pay someone to do it for me, unless it was something complex. I've given myself four tattoos and only have one idea I'd actually pay someone to do for me just because it's some complex geometric shapes.
