what have ya given yourself? i fuckin love stippling so eventually i wanna give myself a really complex snp on my thigh or something
Hell yes, do it. Judging by the dumb rating I'm guessing facepunch disapproves of doing your own tattoos. I say fuck that, I'd rather do my own than pay someone to do it for me, unless it was something complex. I've given myself four tattoos and only have one idea I'd actually pay someone to do for me just because it's some complex geometric shapes.
One rating is hardly indicative of majority opinion I personally think doing a shitty DIY piece on yourself is dumb, because holy fucking shit it's dumb The way you talk about getting inked as though it's not something that's worth paying someone for is also extremely bizarre
A friend and myself have been working on my next piece. So far I'm very happy with our first sketch. I like to think of my tattoos as chapters in my life. The astronaut represent my childhood dream of what a lot boys wanted to be when they were young. The broken visor on the helmet are my shattered dreams of being one. The reason why the astronaut is faceless is because I still don't know who I am or what to identify myself with. And the flag is a fictional flag (United States of Eurasia) because I've lived in 7 countries throughout Europe and Asia over the past 23 years and I have no idea where I can really call my home. (Also I'm a big fan of Muse) Man the way I phrased that sounds really fucking depressing but I'm really fucking pumped on finishing this and getting it done soon.
Great start Where are you getting it?
Great start Where are you getting it?
Along my right tricep. Once I'm happy with the final design I'll scale it to the right size and get around to the best studios in the county to get their input too. If I'm gonna get it done, I wanna get it done as best as possible
My best friend recently got a pretty nice tattooing kit from one of her co-workers and she's starting to do free tattoos for people. On the one hand, I want my first tattoo to be awesome and really well done, but on the other hand I think it would be a lot more special if someone I knew and cared about did it.
Concern yourself with the former Plan ahead to a time where you know that she's capable for another tat, then you'll have your cake and eat it too
also be careful of the health/safety concerns.
Guys my tattoo is about 3 days old now, been moisturising it with bepanthen and washing it occasionally with carex+warm water/baby wipes if i'm out. And now it's starting to get black bits coming off while I clean it, I think it's just where the skin is flaking but I'm just worried in case it's pulling off any of the ink, or is it just pulling off the top layer of skin that has ink on it?

Ink goes into the second layer of skin, which is where it won't dissapear. I think you're just removing dead skin, but I'm not sure.
that's what it looks like, probably is just peeling? Just would be nice to get confirmation
Yeah the whole thing will peel off and scar partially over the first few weeks, takes a month or so to heal up all the way. Just don't help it come off in any way, don't tear off any peeling skin and don't touch any scabbing or some of the pigment may bleed out. Don't let it get any sun either. Also it'll look a bit faded and might be cloudy in places underneath that top destroyed layer of skin, that's also normal, it settles and gets a bit darker again (though it'll never be quite as black as is it right out of the shop) Looks great by the way
That's a relief, is there any way to avoid peeling bits off while washing/applying cream? as that's when it's happening. full picture also
Just dab on the cream and don't rub at it while you're washing it. If skin just flakes off with 0 resistance it's fine, it's gotta come off anyway. The whole experience is a lot more of a par when it's scabbed here and there and it's itchy but you can't scratch it Very nice anyway Does that image mean something specific? I've seen it a good deal
Nah no meaning for me, just thought it would look good :v: and wanted something with stippling, thought it was perfect. I eventually want a whole forest/nomadic theme on that arm in black and white
The skinny bits coming off are normal. That's just one part of your tattoo healing, don't be worried, everythings fine. Well, my tattoo's now a bit over two weeks old but skin hasn't really come off at all, only a few toiny bits a few days in. Still putting some creme on it, but it doesn't seem to do anything at all. Have never had this with my other tats before. So what now?
does a touch up take as long to heal as the original? wondering because my hands have been taking forever to heal with the cold weather
I want to get my next Tattoo but I'm not going anywhere near town while it's Christmas, gonna be too packed. Annoying me having to wait though. Hopefully gonna get this. Gonna hand the artist a couple of pieces and let him make his own out of it like he did with my other.
I'm considering getting this for my upper arm. (want to have all tatoos I get coverable due to fact I'm hoping to be in healthcare) It's album cover art, but I removed the text, inverted the colours and would want the lines to be solid, not like they are here. Any more tattoos I get will likely be Celtic based, so it could be pretty nice - I've always liked the idea of having an ouroboros, which could make a nice wrap around on the other arm. [t]http://i.imgur.com/o9D1yPn.png[/t] I'd probably want the lines a little thicker, and I'll want the opinion of the guy I'd get to do it beforehand of course. My dad's got some pretty great tattoos and he thinks it'll work well if I get it properly done. It's not exactly overly recognisable, and I'd be more than happy with it (yes, even when I am old and saggy)
sorry for shitty pic had to use my tablet, got this at a friday 13th event at the place where i get my tats, 6 flashseets all designs £13, i thought this was pretty cool vintage style design and i dont have much colour atm [t]http://i.imgur.com/IkpqHZF.jpg[/t]
congrats on tattooing "hate" on one of the most visible parts of your body
Can't say I like the tattoo myself, but I'd be more concerned about the placement. I'm not saying tattoos should be easily concealable, but the side of your neck is a really odd place for one regardless.
i dont give a fuck about placement, i already have both hands done, i kinda think the neck tattoo locks a bit small and lonely so i will probably have sailor jerry pinups on each side
needs a bump. Thinking about one of these... on my forearm aswell. Your thoughts?
The compass could be cool, but crosses are so goddamned cliche for a tattoo.
Finally got my Ouroboros done. Here's the two, my older Flamel and the Ouroboros. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZGyVIl8.jpg?1[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eO6RNLY.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vn0hoRb.jpg[/img_thumb]
Hey everyone, I need some advice on getting my first tattoo. I've been thinking about getting one for almost 5 years now, but never really knew exactly what I wanted to get until about now. I always wanted something tribal, originally a simple design on my left arm/shoulder area, but I'll save that for when I get more muscular and toned. Right now, my mind is set on tribal wings. Cliche, I know, but I love the design of tribal tattoos, and my upper back is defined enough to make it look good. I want it to be simple, but not too minimalistic. So far, this is my favorite design. B: Roughly how long do you think it will take to be done? and C: If you think this isn't a good idea, please explain to me why instead of just telling me I don't know what I'm doing or something along those lines. Thank you to everyone who responds.

I THINK it would take you about 1,5-3 hours, but don't take my word on it.
hey guys. Im thinking about getting my first tattoo. I want it to be something general and meaningful-ish. i want to get a symbol/drawing, and these sentence under it: control, or someone else will. (will probably translate it to another cool language). What i need is a symbol/drawing that would go with this sentence. Will post my tattoo after getting it.
I should have been going to have more line work done on my Escher tower of babel upper arm right now but got cancelled on for like the 6th time pretty pissed off about it but shit happens, will probably msg the tattooist directly later as the shop were kinda vague apart from saying he's been sick.
