If you say you can't listen to screaming and growling, I don't know why you're asking for "new metal". Pretty much every good modern metal band has some form of screaming or growling.
If you don't listen to death metal, you're missing out on some amazing metal.
Listen to
Lazarus AD
EVILE
Anyways, here's some great thrash you can listen to
Kreator
Exodus
Annihilator
Municipal Waste
Over-Kill
Death Metal:
Hypocrisy
Kataklysm
Behemoth
Cynic
Arsis
ATHEIST
Death
Fear Factory
Obscura
Neuraxis
Doom Metal/Stoner Metal
High on Fire
Type O Negative
Gojira is more progressive metal with death metal elements in their music. My friend once called them Aboriginal metal because of all the percussion and their riffs.
They're death metal. No if's and's or butts about that. They have a lot of progressive influences, and incorporate a lot of great beats and rhythms, but they're no real subgenre of it except for fucking awesome.
Ok IMO the best bands around that would suit your tastes would be, Ahem:
Mors Principium Est (DO IT!)
Scar Symmetry (seriously do this)
Neptune
Sybreed (these guys are awsome)
Mercenary (just started listening to them they are awsome)

Have you not heard Terra Incognita, Mars to Sirius or The Link? You cannot call those albums death metal orientated...
Only The Way of All Flesh is close to being death metal.
Gojira incorporate a fuckload of different stlyes into their music and death metal is one of them

Copy pasted from other thread. You complain about death metal, but those there are melodeath  Much better. The lyrics to melodeath are also awesome. The instrumentals are amazing sounding. It's a fantastic genre.
There's a lot of stuff in there; melodeath, heavy metal, power metal, thrash metal, Industrial Metal, NWOBHM, etc.

You''re the first person I've seen mention Neptune. Funny how you don't give them any parenthetical notes, when they're my favorite band out of that group (though Sybreed and Scar Symmetry are close seconds.)
"Gearsoul Supremacy" and "Disequilibrium" are amazing songs. :frogc00l:

Which makes them progressive metal. :v:
Oh, and, Orphaned Land is a brilliant Israeli prog metal band.
