I really hope this girl isn't too old for me. I've never felt this way about other girls. That came out wrong. What I mean to say is other girls I've met and have actually had the opportunity to go out with just don't make me feel this way.
The whole "what's the worst that can happen" attitude in this thread is a great start to the day. Good way to look at the day before you get started.
Wow, people seemed to read that as sarcasm... I can see why, but I was being entirely serious and not looking for sympathy at all. In fact, I had a wonderful day!
welp, I just found out the girl I'm absolutely crazy for likes me too. Then, she says that the reason we're not going out is because she is afraid of it not working and going through the heartbreak of breaking up. She's also afraid that we won't last because of the fact we'll be leaving for college in a year and a half. And the worst of it all, is that she's just afraid to be in a relationship, because her last boyfriend almost raped her last summer. And I respect these reasons, and I understand where she's coming from... I just wish it could work out. Thinking about it now, I guess I'm not really asking for advice. There's nothing I can really do. I don't want to end up hurting her. She means a lot to me, but if she thinks us being together will just make things worse, I guess it just can't happen.
Textbook excuse, she doesn't like you. If she did, she wouldn't come up with shitty excuses.
Nearly being raped is an excuse?
because of the fact we'll be leaving for college in a year and a half.
Worst. Excuse. Ever. 0/10 for effort on her part. [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
Nearly being raped is an excuse?
Why does she mention this before even going out unless shes trying to avoid you?
Nearly being raped is an excuse?
I use it all the time.
If your under 25 it does, I would say one or two years should be the max.

This. There's a massive maturity difference between the teenage years, someone that is 18 is way more mature than someone that is 16, for example. Once you get older, age ceases to matter, but it's a pretty big deal when you're young.
Here's the bottom line. Every girl (hell maybe every person) is afraid of relationships not working out and blah blah blah. However, if a girl likes you, she will be willing to take the risk. A girl might say "I'm not ready for a relationship," to you, but 10 bucks says if you were the ideal dude for her, she'd be ready and willing to give a relationship a shot. Sure, he last boyfriend might have almost raped her, but that wouldn't stop her from getting with a guy that she's legitimately interested in. It sucks, but you have to realize that she's just trying to let you down easy. The mere fact that she's using what are literally the most generic excuses to turn you down should be enough proof of that. Hell, she doesn't even like you enough to come up with good excuses. Just let it go.
-snip-
I didn't read the rest of the thread since your post, so you might have already gotten some other advice. BUT You're afraid of rejection by someone who you actually do like, but you don't want to settle for someone who you don't like (yet). Dating is about getting to know someone, and seeing if you have something in common before heading into a more serious relationship. You should dip into a wider variety of girls, and try to take it less seriously. If you don't think it's serious, then A. You won't get too upset when you get rejected (bound to happen) and B. You won't feel like you're "settling" for less, because you could always break it off at any moment if you really don't like them. But once you get to know them, you may just find that you like them more than you thought, and you won't have to settle to be with them, because you'll actually be happy. Also unrelated, but make a list of interesting things about you, and a list of things that you're interested in about any random person. Then if you're being boring while topic, you can just try to remember something on that list, and bring it up. You should ask more questions about them then the number of things you tell them about yourself though.
Ho' boy, I just got really nervous because I realized that I'd probably be seeing her in the next day or two.
Is a little under a year and a half too large, you think? She is seventeen and some- sixteen myself.
Eh, I think you'll be fine. In most cases, it seems that dudes can have older girlfriends and be more successful than girls that have older boyfriends. Probably because young dudes are just retarded, whereas young girls are retarded emotional timebombs.
Oh Maverick, how have you been?
Oh Maverick, how have you been?
Aggravated. I thought I was the biggest asshole on FP, but Garry had to come steal that title.
Nah he only stole the biggest cry baby on FP title, from Monkey_123.
Hey guys, listen, so there is Hey guys, hey, hey guys, listen, there is this Guys! Hey! alright, this girl that, guys listen! This girl that I talked to, guys listen, I talked to once on facebook And and guys! hey listen! I talked to her once and I think Listen! alright guys, I think I love her!
You're being defensive.
I wish girls these days actually looked their age. They either look 12 when they're 17 or they look 20 when they're 15. there is no medium, and there is no looking your own age.
Maverick, dude, could you like, write a book, or something? So those who fail at love outside of facepunch have your unrivalled expertise as a guide?
I'm going to write a book one of these days.
This fear just HAD to come up now. I was really hoping I could get through this without even thinking about it, but now I'm starting to worry that I'm going to make a complete and utter fool of myself. How can I get over this?
Just gotta push through it. There's no real trick to it, you just gotta grow some balls.
Is it wrong or sad that I'm 15 and have never been in a relationship? Most of my friends seem to think so
Just gotta push through it. There's no real trick to it, you just gotta grow some balls.
Urgh, I can't grow balls. I can barely grow facial hair. I guess I'll just have to try my damnedest.
Is it wrong or sad that I'm 15 and have never been in a relationship? Most of my friends seem to think so
I didn't have an "official" girlfriend until I was 17.
I would ask this girl I like out but there's nowhere to go out to. D:
I'm soon 18 and I haven't had a girlfriend, but it's not like I'm actively looking for one anyway. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Life is meant to live the way you want to, and mine is to live for the day, not to find a girlfriend, k
