Against: Countries should spend more on space exploration

Most of these statements against "Countries should spend more on space exploration" are pretty bad...
It's pretty hard to come up with a good point.

Good luck with your debate
I feel space exploration for the sake of going into space is somewhat useless. We should put our research into propulsion, life support, etc. They may make it more feasible eventually.
Hello Facepunch,
I have a debate coming in my school the day after tomorrow and the topic is if Countries should spend more on space exploration. I've been place in the team that is against the idea. I am just beginning to start on it tonight and have to compile a report in 2 days and any help or links to sources that might help my team would be greatly appreciated.
So far, it looks like most of the people are for it. At least, that's what I seem to be getting while browsing the web. I would really like some help, please.
Thank you!
Congratulations. You got stuck on the losing side. Anything you say can be countered easily by the opposing team. You are best off just taking the beating unfortunately.
Debating teams suck like that sometimes unfortunately.
Let's stick to fixing problems here ON EARTH before we wanna mess things up on a universal scale. Space pollution. :science:

What problems would those be?

No such thing as space pollution, just shoot your garbage into the sun.

1. We still don't know a lot about our own world. Oceans have not been fully explored, as well as the north and south poles...
2. With Earth having so many countries, each separately ruled by another person, space exploration past the point of what it is now would cause all out war. If anyone were to get out to, say, Mars? Then that country would be the winner, because the rest of the Earth will explode from selfish fucks firing off missiles at everyone.
3. Alternate fuels. We need them. Without them, there will be no space exploration for much longer. If we don't find alternate fuels (possibly reusable), then we're not getting too far, and if we keep using what we are, we better hope the moon has a shitload of what we need to get us by until we get to another planet with the exact same fossil fuels...
