Can't wait to sneak booze into the theatre and watch this completely shitfaced
Oh fuck off Roland Emmerich, you are a shitty directory now and need to stop ruining things.
I'm kinda willing to bet the space tech they extracted from the aliens was used almost exclusively by the military.
Some of it went to civilian applications according to the tie-in site. used to make Touchscreen Smartphones and other things.
I like how Goldblum waits until he is standing at the edge of the huge plateau that he could have seen the huge spooky ship from miles away on to say "Oh my god."
That BRRRRRRWWWWWRRRNNNNNNN at the end title hasnt this been done to the point of lunacy by now?
The movie was such a masterpiece because it was -the- action blockbuster, combined with disaster elements were so popular at the time. It also had great characters, and even though it was cheesy there is a reason why it's a milestone. Also probably the best practical special effects in a movie. This one, looks like it's trying to grab back the people in the later 20's and 30's who saw the movie younger in the theaters. For me, it's working a little bit. Looks a little over the top but I will definitely see it because i loved the first one so much, and since it'snot a pure "reboot" it won't ruin the first one for me.
i thought the first one was horrible
not a fan of the fog horns littering every fucking trailer ever nowadays.
Wait do people actually hold the first movie in high regard? It's pretty bad.
That was the thing. It was so bad it's good because it doesn't take itself to seriously.
As an overall movie it doesn't look bad, but it still looks like a generic run-of-the-mill sci-fi film. As an Independence Day sequel however it completely misses the point -- The original had a lot of humor and didn't take itself too seriously while this just looks like a Darker and Edgierâ„¢ reboot. Plus, not having Will Smith in it is pretty lame.
New xcom trailer looks hype
Poor Jeff Goldblum is going to get typecast again now. I was hoping they would keep the cheesy "Balls to the Wall Patriotism" where it belonged in pre-2001 America, but if they're going to to try and embalm a dead horse, I hope they put the effort in to make the performance of the film a self deprecating tone since it seems like they're not going with the 50's Sci-Fi B movie vibe. Maybe it will be better than I expected like with Jurassic World.
Looks more like a generic sci fi movie than an Independence Day movie.
Here's the Youtube link.
Looking very interesting, I remember talking with friends about how they may salvage technology from those crashed ships and how there would need to be presences in place to prevent a single company or government from controlling this new technology, essentially a world wide effort to pattern different versions of the same alien technology because that's the only way you would good reverse engineer of it.
Now this is all likely hearsay on my part, but i'd like to share my theory of the purpose of the military outposts built on Rhea, Mars and the Moon according to the tie-in site. My guess is they're all for early warning/detection and confirmation. Base on Rhea picks up a target bound for Earth outside the solar system, and reports the sighting to the other two bases so they can turn their own instruments to the target to make absolutely sure it isn't an equipment malfunction. On top of that, if one site goes dark, that'd be a big red flag to tell the other sites that something's wrong so they have time to react.
Man, this just reminded me how much I fucking love Independence Day, I'm gonna go watch it again right now.
not a fan of the fog horns littering every fucking trailer ever nowadays.
as much as I hate it it's interesting hearing the Interception horn gradually get more and more distorted as every fucking trailer tries to use it. it's gone from a "DUUUUUUUUUNNnnnn" to a "BAAAWWWWWwww"
I really hope this movie doesn't end in a cliffhanger, A "leaked" Script said there was going to be one to make room for a sequel, Though I think the director said they'd only shoot a sequel if this one performed well.
Independence Day is one of the best movies ever made if you want to see hollywood at one of it's most transparent forms for the 90s. The people who keep making this shit like the 90s godzilla, 2012, etc. Such huge pieces of shit that know it's bad and they don't give 5 shits because they know it makes money from stupid people.
