Okay, what the fuck else could they have been doing? Popping in and saying hi?
For all we know they could have been trying to kill the guy, then ran off when he started shooting. The point I was trying to make is that how can we label them as robbers instead of anything else if they didn't rob anything and don't know if they were aiming to instead of killing the guy or taking him captive or whatever?

Considering they ran when the homeowner began shooting at them and they didn't even fire back despite carrying a fucking assault rifle, it seems - and we can assume - they weren't intent on killing the guy (and might've even had the weapons for intimidating yet no ammunition, but I don't think they'd be that stupid).

How much sense does it make for a robbery to go down in a suburban neighborhood at 3 in the afternoon with such firepower? And isn't it strangely convenient that the homeowner not only had security systems all over the property, but also a gun right beside the door? And how he seemed ready to handle the perpetrators right off the bat, as soon as they arrived practically? Here is a transcript from the CNN coverage of this from 2009: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0902/12/ldt.01.html And here is some dialogue between Lieutenant Michael O'Connor of the Pima County, Arizona Sheriff's Department, and Lou Dobbs regarding the homeowner from that transcript:
O'CONNOR: But on this case, it's believed that he has a history, has some narcotics history in his background, and that's typical of these. For whatever reason, people will attack someone's home, either for -- thinking there's drugs there, because they've got a history, or perhaps they have not paid a debt that's owed to them and it's going to be a kidnapping. But at this point we're not actually sure what happened. But most likely it's one of those scenarios. DOBBS: Lieutenant, forgive me, but you say he, you're referring to the homeowner with that background, correct? O'CONNOR: Yes, that's correct. DOBBS: And as you talk about the number of incidents increasing, we learned this week that Phoenix is now the kidnapping capital of the United States. Are you seeing an escalation in violence across the board, including kidnappings there in Pima County as well? O'CONNOR: Absolutely. I mean, over the last three -- well, probably close to two years, going into three years, we see the drastic increase in the number of home invasions. Last year we would have, four years, maybe two dozen a year. Now we're having almost a dozen or so a month. It's really gotten crazy. And it's spillover from what's going on south of the border.
So, even the police department's thinking there's a lot more to this than just a robbery.
I live near there. v:v:v
Alot of good that did them, they obviously didn't have the intent on using their firearms or they could easily have put down the home owner.
There was never an opportunity to determine whether or not they returned fire, and seeing as they were in the open I think they were focusing more on legging it than anything else. And who gets a bloody assault rifle for show?
Well done to that man. Although strangely convenient that he has cameras all around his house and a shit load of guns. I wish my house was like that!
Um, he shot the guys while they were fleeing, I'm pretty sure he can get charged for that.
He shot them while they were trying to break and enter into his home. And then after they began fleeing, he continued shooting. Why? What easier way to apprehend a suspect then to make sure they go to the hospital to treat their wounds. The cops would be waiting assuming the home owner got a good shot. The video says one might have gotten hit in the arm. Perfectly reasonable. Not like it was a head or nut shot.
Ahhh, Arizona. I love/hate living here.
