What if we treated all athletes the way we treat skateboarders?
well then i'm glad you'll be the first person to fund a 600 million dollar project to add a half decent fucking skatepark to every corner of the globe
[editline]27th April 2011[/editline]
The shit concrete one in my town routinely has cops driving by and telling us to leave because it's "too loud". If I can find a picture of the park I can show you the quality in which this fucking place was built, it's a piece of shit and I'd rather pay $150 for a park bench than skate there.
Then go buy a park bench and skate at your house. Dont fuck up other peoples property.
I live in a place with skate boarders everywhere. It never bothers me. I mean the only thing I might not like is that tony hawk proskater gave me way to high expectations for what real skate boarding should be like but besides that I see no problem with it.

public property =/= "other people's property"
i don't even skate that much anymore, chill
If you had enough time to notice what he was doing, you could have tried to avoid him. Assuming skateboards are as "maneuverable" as you say, you shouldn't have had any problem getting out of the way.
I didn't say I was skating. But Matix has a point. A lot of skaters are total douchebags, and they think they have a right to skate/grind on whatever they want. I was just defending transit between skateparks, vacant lots, and the like (everywhere else you can skate). I mean, I'd be pissed if some kids were tearing the shit out of my stairs and getting black shit (wax) everywhere.

First skating in your own house is not fun at all especially with the tv in the way and 2nd not all skaters ruin public property. Also skating rarely causes public property damage. I mean skating buy itself doesn't cause property damage at all and I know many people who skate to go to school.

I was skating here, and the cops kept bitching because it was too noisy... they closed it the next year.
NEVER FORGET

Public property or not it shouldn't matter.

i agree with you for the most part, but if a town doesnt have a decent skate park, they shouldnt complain when skaters are wrecking their shit
i mean if its so much of a problem that skaters are fucking up public places why not give them their own place they can fuck around with
I don't really have respect for skateboarders because they all act like dicks even when people politely ask not to skate on their property and shit. So fuck em.

Nice generalization there.
Yeah the last one did actually make sense, runners often run in public.
Except when you're running you have complete control over your movement, while good skateboarders can handle themselves pretty damn well, because of the way inertia and wheels work, it's harder to stop or adjust your trajectory really quickly, which makes it more likely to result in accidental collisions.

Just because a town lacks proper skating facility's dosent give them a right to screw up property.

Especially in this economy, people would be screaming and yelling that the township is wasting money :colbert:
Does this also applies to bikers?

Only if they grind in public property or go on the sidewalk.

Now that is just ingenious, and looks like those rails haven't been used in forever.
Also the tennis one makes a lot of sense, build something that's pretty much made for skateboarding and then put signs up that say "no skateboarding"
Just because a town lacks proper skating facility's dosent give them a right to screw up property.
Again not all skaters have to do tricks and grinds. Most skaters I know use it for transportation. And even if someone does do tricks doesn't mean they will mess anything up. A lot of tricks don't require grinding at all.
Also, wax isn't used on everything, AND it takes YEARS UPON YEARS of usage to leave even a bit of residue.
I would like it if all athletes were looked down upon like skateboarders. Professional ones anyway. They have no right to make that much money.
I am fat and I can't be bothered to exercise so I will just stop everyone else from doing it instead.

No, I agree with him more because I would rather have intellectual people get paid tons more than politicians and athletes :colbert:

They earn that money. I'm not saying smart people don't, but professional athletes entertain people, and the people are willing to pay. Would you rather the team owners keep 90% of the money?
[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
And besides, there are plenty of smart rich people, people who invent something really big or a lot of tiny things. You just don't hear about them as often. And there aren't that many athletes who get paid gross amounts of money.
this video made me mad a little
Skaters who skate on public property deserve to be fined/arrested or atleast shooed away.

You mean the simple act of no trick non destructive kind?

Give me an example of this please.
haters ignoring the running one... v:v:v
I remember these ads

Running or jogging isn't destructive to property and as someone mentioned before its a lot more stable than skateboarding.
