if you're a buyer you end up paying more than your offer, yeah- you lowball to make the seller bring down their own price

trump is a [i]salesman[/i] and bids extreme, so 'high' bids after the fact feel more like middle ground by comparison and people will be more likely to settle for them. He's sold people on his positions with bold claims he couldn't possible go through with, but now that he's in a position to assert other (potentially) bold/controvercial claims, they aren't wacky by comparison

Well I am more happy about people just seeing him make the statements in these interviews in their entirety.

I am aware he has made extreme stances and he has been accurately lambasted for that. Just happy to see that with the campaign over he is doing his thing where he reigns in his stance for a compromise.
