OTR is entirely non-canon. It's a big what if story going "hey, remember fortune city? What if it had been Frank instead of Chuck", which is why the story is so wildly different from vanilla dead rising 2 and why [sp]Chuck is a boss in OTR[/sp]
I think they made OTR purely because some people REALLY didn't like Chuck. I liked him well enough but I did hate how Chuck was stuck with Katie the whole game. Guess it made him more relatable, but constantly needing to hunt for zombrex was such a chore. Plus I loved being able to take stupid/cool zombie photos to help me level up and get stronger, a mechanic they thankfully brought back in OTR and looks like it will be returning in DR4.

I liked Dead Rising 3, but no. Dead Rising 2 (and especially OTR) certainly did a lot of things better.
Never played the first since it's a console exclusive so can't really compare there.

If you literally give me Dead Rising 2, with the difficulty of Dead Rising 1, with the quality of life features (like picking up items while moving) of Dead Rising 3. Perfect game.
I imagine plastic surgery is a thing in the Dead Rising universe. And since OTR is considered non canon, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Frank has had some performed with regards to "why does he look younger?".

Am I the only one who misses the claustrophobic atmosphere of being locked in in a mall or vegas strip? I dont get the same unsettling feeling of loneliness when you can just go out into the town with open view to everywhere
Why does every developer think taking a selfie with dead/dieing people is the way to make your character seem "wacky n fun"

Nope. Was hoping for that as well when I heard the description but the leaked pictures said enough for me that it wasn't going to be that.

The issue i'm seeing are the lack of distinct locations and seemingly no real threat from the zombies which was an issue in DR3 even without upgrades.

I feel like Frank has never really been done right post-DR1. His voice has continued, yeah, but his model and design in DR2 times and forward always looked really off. His nose and eyes (I think especially his eyes) don't have the same shape or something, just always felt wrong.
May be in the minority but I always figured Frank would actually look more like this age in and around DR2 than what he was portrayed as, he got aged way too fast. That said, his face is still weird here in comparison to DR1.
New voice sucks though. Like not retiring Sam Fisher when Ironside didn't want to return, why would you ever recast a character who's voice is so iconic [i]to[/i] that character?

I'm extremely cautiously interested. I love Dead Rising 1 and 2, but DR3 was such a horrible shitshow it soured me on the series. Maybe it'll be good, but considering it's Frank West except not (why bring him back if you're just going to replace his VA and make him look like that?) and it doesn't look as colorful as the first two I'm not expecting much.
