I am prop and for some reason hooker sometimes.
Does anyone else find it terribly ironic that France, which is considered a somewhat sissy country (In general, not throwing statements around here) has a pretty decent rugby team (considered a somewhat manly sport).
Dunno if you guys saw this, but its a pretty amazing shot
I like when rugby players are like "hurr we don't wear pads we are so manly :downs:". I've played both Rugby and American Football and I have to say that the latter hurts a shit load more. In rugby you constantly get cut up fingers and mashed ears n stuff from all the scrapping around but the actual impact of tackles in American Football is so much more powerful - there's pads for a reason. If you're playing rugby against a half-competent team, ie. not some fat 13 year olds, the majority of the tackling is about grabbing around the waist with your head behind them, on their arse, and dragging them to the ground. In contrast, in American football you can pretty much hit however the fuck you want as long as it's not leading with the helmet (which is more likely to seriously injure the aggressor than the person actually being tackled). Sure, having some 15 stone guy in rugby sprint at you and smash you in the waist or the legs is painful and then you go down and get stood on for a bit.... but I find the longer lasting effects of a shoulder-to-shoulder or shoulder-to-abdomen tackle in American football to be far more painful, often causing small-scale concussion. People don't seem to realise that the padding protects the tackler far better than the tackle-ee.
I'm good at football. Just think it's rubbish. Everyones always so serious about it.
ah yes the serious people. they ruin all the fun

There just too different. [editline]7th February 2011[/editline]
19-26 :saddowns:
Wales could have had that match if they had have played with more heart in the last 10mins of the match. Giving away 2 penalties in the dying mins of the game is not smart!
I used to play, (for the under 13's or some shit like that). But then I lost interest because I was shit (my position was the substitute's substitute), But I still watch the Welsh and Irish internationals.
I think I've posted in this thread a while ago, but rugby looks fun. I've played American Football (I live in Texas), and I loved it. The only thing I've done that I think even remotely compares to rugby is Smear the Queer, and that's just in the tackling style.

Rugby is fantastic.
I think it's overhyped. Sorry, but kicking a ball and touching other guys doesn't seem so awesome.
i'm just waiting for saturday to get here. i can lounge around recovering from a hangover watching the England game, then the Scotland one.

I'm short, and consequently shit at Rugby :( [editline]8th February 2011[/editline] I much prefer this to Football. Much more intense. (UK football, nor American one, before someone rages.)

Play rugby with tall fellow. Receive mud.
James Hook replaces Stephen Jones at number 10 for Wales' Six Nations trip to Scotland! Could this be the determining factor in Saturdays Clash?
First off i am a Canadian Having Played football for 15 years now( also played rugby for 4 of them).Having played with guys from rugby who Said that they were tough shit because of lack of pads.... They all learnt a hard lesson about physics in football. Rugby is about draging a person down. football is about fucking destroying the guy infront of you. I weigh about 280 pounds run a 40 in 5.0. I am not fucking fat. I am not fucking slow I just think rugby was made by School children for recess time.
Comments are appreciated so long as they are too do with rugby and not "sports is boring" or "American football is awesome" etc... that shit will piss me off!
[editline]8th February 2011[/editline] So stop fucking doing it!
It looks pretty cool. All I know about it is what I seen in that movie "Invictus". I live in Brazil though, so you're nearly forced to like football. I do like it, but I wish I had the chance to know more about other sports like that. I've seen some people practicing it though, while I don't know anyone who practices American Football.
Rugby 4 Life. Nothing like hitting, and being hit... all match.
Used to play it until I got a knee injury. I'd probably be playing for my county if it weren't for that. I support Gloucester.
