• Building a flamethrower and need a bit of help.

Are you going to use it to burn some ant hill or some wasp hive somewhere?
That shit not say my old retarded friend burnt me and I got 2 degree burns on my upper arm.
Maybe second degree burns, but also first class flames! :v:
Most homemade flamethrowers are a napalm bomb waiting to happen
Use a supersoaker filled with butane! That's what all the cool kids do! Also, see if you can fill those spider man web shooter gloves with butane!
Make sure you get some fire-resistant clothing too. Better safe than sorry.
OP after building the flamethrower
why do you even need a flamethrower? are you a terrorist or something?
My god...
Put one of those water wand things on a propane tank. I saw some Vietnamese people do it and it looked so cash.
If you want to do this the correct way then use gelled gasoline for fuel.
~~~Offtopic~~~~** Who's the guy in op's avatar?
Steal napalm from your closest military base. And use that instead of the regular gasoline. Burn heretics with style
Don't do it OP, you're going to hurt yourself. :(
Boric Acid for a green flame. Do it.
looks cool
UBER REPLY: (thanks for all your replies so far!)
Don't use oxygen to pressurize the fuel, use argon. Unless you want to die in flames.
Tip: Don't compress the fuel mixture with compressed air Play it safe and use something like argon With compressed air, fuel could potentially track back up the pipe, into the tank, and you'd be a paraplegic - or dead
I thought of this, I plan on using CO2, other people have reported good results using CO2 for pressurizing fuel tanks. It's also cheap and not reactive with fossil fuels (as far as I can tell).
Yeah, actually use proper pressure vessels, use an inert gas for pressurisation and wear proper fireproof clothing- lots of Nomex and crap.
I am using a tank rated at 130PSI but will only be pushing it to 100PSI. I have a pressure release valve in the tank if it somehow gets up to 130.
Are you going to use it to burn some ant hill or some wasp hive somewhere?
I don't know what I want to use it for yet. Perhaps I can do shows at kids' birthday parties.
Use a supersoaker filled with butane! That's what all the cool kids do! Also, see if you can fill those spider man web shooter gloves with butane!
butane might be too expensive. I will check out my fuel options later, after the device is built.
why do you even need a flamethrower? are you a terrorist or something?
Its less about need and more about want. Who would not want a goddamn flamethrower? Also, why accuse every American who wants to do something for fun of being a terrorist. You -> :bandwagon:
(pic) My god...
That one is lame. Really really lame.
If you want to do this the correct way then use gelled gasoline for fuel.
I will need to track down or make a gellifying agent to do that. Any ideas (with sources)?
~~~Offtopic~~~~** Who's the guy in op's avatar?
It's George Akatukatuango from the Republic of Agduduguango, one of the persona of Fonejacker (Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97hz5Sv-Qlg)
Boric Acid for a green flame. Hope this helps.

Get a bucket of gasoline and dump some styrofoam into it. The styrofoam will dissolve and you'll be left with a napalm-ish mixture. Cheap and easy.
Only raging psychopaths build flamethrowers [editline]01:23PM[/editline] You should go for it
Steal napalm from your closest military base. And use that instead of the regular gasoline. Burn heretics with style
gasoline, rubberbands and styrofoam is cheaper
I hear if you point the firey end towards yourself and spray, you get candy!
before you use it pour the gasoline on you, you get a much bigger flame
Me and my friend built a flamethrower once, was fun until we lit his deck on fire.
enjoy exploding and dieing if you make one small mistake. or just burning to death. [editline]07:10PM[/editline]
You don't really need all of that stuff. Can of Axe + Lighter = Flame Thrower. I thought everyone didn't give a shit about that after the 5th grade.
I would also say that you're lucky to be alive. I don't know the exact physics, but I'm not sure that a can of axe can provide enough pressure to stop the flame form traveling back though the nozzle and cause the can to explode, killing you and all of you idiot friends. or just taking your arm off.
That can be pretty dangerous, make sure you know what you're doing.
that's the joke :rolleyes:
We know.
