OP: I know there was already something like this posted but I had to.
Makes sure that along with throwing flame that it werfs flammen. [editline]08:08PM[/editline] Oh hey 3 steps ahead
enjoy exploding and dieing if you make one small mistake. or just burning to death. [editline]07:10PM[/editline] I would also say that you're lucky to be alive. I don't know the exact physics, but I'm not sure that a can of axe can provide enough pressure to stop the flame form traveling back though the nozzle and cause the can to explode, killing you and all of you idiot friends. or just taking your arm off.
Oh, no! Captain Boredom is here, to preech on his overstated theories. First of all, a can of axe exploding cannot take one's arm off, two fingers and a shitload of burns, tops. Also: Flamethrowers are not dangerous unless you have no clue on what to do. If the pressure gas is indeed C02, then it cannot be ignited, since it lacks of oxygen. This means that there is no explosion risk at all, pherhaps due to some kind of pressude breach, but I doubt people will plug the tubes, and to be honest, it is more likley that the tubes that moves the pressure gas will just burst, so what's he gonna do? Fizzle to death? As for the flammable substance, it problably needs to be directly exposed to heat in order to ignite. Since in most cases, it can't be ignited whilst flowing out, for two reasons: A: Pressure keeps the flame out. B: Due to the filled tubes, there is no oxygen, all flames needs oxygen. Stop being such a dry pain in the ass and go get a hooker or something, live life, would ya? ALSO: The can of axe needs to be opened first in order to explode. I've done that flame thing myself tons of times, with all kinds of stuff, bugspray works best in my opinion.
This will end with tragedy.
I will need to track down or make a gellifying agent to do that. Any ideas (with sources)?
Heres a mix with household ingredients: (Parts are by volume) 36 parts gasoline, 1 part ethanol, 20 parts powdered soap(real soap). Mix the alcohol and gasoline first and then stir in the soap for about 15 minutes. I don't know if I can find an online source but it's in the Improvised Munitions Manual.
Steal napalm from your closest military base. And use that instead of the regular gasoline. Burn heretics with style
PURGE THE HERETICS... FOR THE EMPEROR caps

First of all, if you need help building a flamethrower, you probably shouldn't be building a flamethrower. Second of all, if you need help building a flamethrower, you probably shouldn't be building it out of junk.
You'll burn your eye out kid!
I have a brilliant idea, use multiple valves with different liquids that burn in 3 colors, red, green, and blue so you may change the colors you want to burn, just make sure the liquids don't react with each other.
ALSO: The can of axe needs to be opened first in order to explode. I have seen it happen. it is not fun. and try not to tell people what they're supposed to find enjoyable.
Build it and paint it so it looks like the pyro's flamethrower.
Forget the pyro stuf that stuff is some pussy ass shit. Use a power washer and feed it fuel instead of water.
As GLaDOS said "Do not look in to the operational end of the device."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Anarchist_Cookbook
anyone who wants it, PM me. especially OP since it might be really useful to him, I totally forgot that it contained proper burning mixtures for this kind of stuff.
I don't know what I want to use it for yet. Perhaps I can do shows at kids' birthday parties.
...
Bahaha, this is a STUPID idea
anyone who wants it, PM me. especially OP since it might be really useful to him, I totally forgot that it contained proper burning mixtures for this kind of stuff.
I had it once before, but go ahead an send it to me.
enjoy exploding and dieing if you make one small mistake. or just burning to death. [editline]07:10PM[/editline] I would also say that you're lucky to be alive. The can won't explode, since the mixture of air and gas isn't right (The butterzone, or what you call it in America..), and the can delivers enough pressure for the flame to travel back. And in other news: Even if it didn't deliver enough pressure, it would not burn back in the can, since there's no Oxygen, ergo nothing for the alcohol in the can to react with, thus making a flame. And at last it's the gas that's burning, not the liquid inside the can. As soon as it comes out it is in small enough drops to actually react with the Oxygen. Damn, I'm bad at explaining. Edit: Damn, I'm late times two... Rate me double clocks.
If you live in the US, Tractor Supply Co. sells fuel hoses and gas pump nozzles.
$500, really? you're willing to spend that much on something you will not really use for more than 10 minutes, well of course you're planning to kill people, then I guess it's alright.
its like the flare gun , only gayer
sorry i'm late but this should help with the fuel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG60wBNtkks
I have one of these. It is comprised of a solenoid and a hose, aswell as some of that camping stove fuel for those little jetburn things. It sprays fire up to 5 feet. It was pur win.
If the flame lights the 'propelled' gas and it's leading to the main fuel supply, its going to pop like a firework, and you with it.
Thanks for all the replies! Thanks to all of the people who have submitted information on where to gain supplies and possible fuel mixtures. I will be experimenting with different fuel mixtures in the coming weeks and will post results. To the skeptics: The fuel will not ignite in the line since there will be no oxygen in the line or tank. Even if it does, the fuel I will use is going to be high viscosity, slow-burning fuel. Fuel does not equal gasoline. The two words are not interchangeable.
Put dish soap in the fluid to thicken it up if you're using denatured alcohol. Should make it go a bit farther since it won't burn up so fast.. If you're feeling experimental, you may want to try mineral oil. it burns at high temperatures, but burns slowly it is quite viscous. Should try it elsewhere first to be safe.
I heard that mixing gasoline with gelatin can create a flame mixture thick enough to go up to 20 feet. Edit: Missed the video, gasoline + Styrofoam should be good enough.
I heard that mixing gasoline with gelatin can create a flame mixture thick enough to go up to 20 feet.
Shit's expensive, though.
So far I plan on testing: -a mixture of diesel and oil (Dad's idea) -Gasoline with Styrofoam dissolved in. -Denatured alcohol (perhaps I will try it with dish soap too, but Denatured alcohol is goddamn expensive, the device will have 10 gal capacity! -WhatTheKlent's suggestion
Heres a mix with household ingredients: (Parts are by volume) 36 parts gasoline, 1 part ethanol, 20 parts powdered soap(real soap).
