Yes you can use a modified choke for rifled slugs, and it'll be accurate to 100m if you know how to aim the bead.
So the guy buying my shotgun backed out.
And this morning another guy offers me an LR-308 as a trade...

That looks cool aside from the weird looking foregrip.
why is there someone with an SCP avatar here you're making us look ███████
As someone who frequents the SCP website and the facepunch thread I shouldn't fall for this trick so easily.
goin to a range tomorrow, wooo
That looks cool aside from the weird looking foregrip.
You could install rails or a generic A1 style fore grip. But the fore grip on the LR-308 is typical of hunting ARs.
I wouldn't have gone with an AR style stock but looks awesome otherwise.
An A1 stock from an AR-15 would be a nicer aesthetic as opposed to the M4 stock.
Too quiet in here...

So I just got left alone in the classroom because I have the shits, but not bad enough to get sent home. The rest of the class went on a field trip.
You know what that means, POR-- I mean Facepunch!
And I'm headed to the local range tomorrow, hoping to break out the old 870 we have sitting in the safe.
Anyone ever try to take a flash suppressor/crush washer off without a vice? I did because I was impatient, and it was not easy. I'm honestly surprised I didn't screw anything up, and I'm sure many would have cringed if they saw how I did it. Basically, I put the gun in my desk chair, sat on it, then used all my might to twist it off. I don't know how much Colt had to crush to get that thing indexed, but man was it on there.
Worst part about it, I hate the flash suppressor I replaced the original with. It's a Smith Vortex, and while it actually works flawlessly, the damn thing is a tuning fork. I can't stand the constant ringing from it. Got a YHM Phantom I'm going to put on in it's place, but I'm going to do it right this time. Brother-in-law is making some barrel blocks for me, and I'm going to put it into a mounted vice this time.
Also, my KAC RAS comes in today, and I'm happier than a schoolgirl backstage at a Bieber concert. Will post picks once installed.
When I replace the muzzle device, I usually hold the gun between my thighs (made of steel, man) and crank on it with a 19mm box wrench.
When I replace the muzzle device, I usually hold the gun between my thighs (made of steel, man) and crank on it with a 19mm box wrench.
I went through many different attempts trying to hold the damn thing in place, thighs included, but Colt really had that thing on there. I ended up placing both of my shins on the rifle, then putting all my body weight (6'2", 225lbs) down on it I used a standard 3/4 wrench and finally got it to twist off.

I guess he had second thoughts. This morning he put the gun up for sale by itself.
Welp, I still cannot find a FR-8 or Israeli Kar98k locally shooting .308, and I've tried armslist and the local gun shops.
Any ideas?

I'm rich enough for an $800 impulse buy and feeling the itch for a tacticool AK

Imo, buy a Saiga.
Imo, buy a Saiga.
I'd be spending just as much buying the aftermarket parts and it won't shoot any better
i like the look of the former
the sight on the gas block is actually not bad looking as far as tacticool AKs
I'm leaning towards that one too. I like the looks and I'll be able to afford some accessories without having to be late on my car payment

are you seriously expecting to just stumble over tenfolds of israeli kurzes in your local fudd gun store?

Gasblocks with sights generally look smexy on AK's. :v:
Range trip!

Shot well, but damn is this gun expensive to feed. Guess I'm gonna have to buy dies for this one, too....
[editline]28th September 2012[/editline]
Trigger reset is a bit longer than I'd like, though...
are you seriously expecting to just stumble over tenfolds of israeli kurzes in your local fudd gun store?
Actually yes, there is a gun shop within a five minute drive that is tacticool crap and they do have milsurp there (at a stupid quality to price ratio), a small shop that has tons of milsurp (also my FFL), another gun shop with a shooting range that has a ton of Century imports but very little milsurp, and finally a decently sized gun shop that deals with all wooden rifles but I don't recall how much milsurp they had.
I know both are them are difficult to find, but is it really that difficult? I saw an Israeli about 4 months ago for $600 in great condition at the tacticool shop, but I didn't have the cash to buy it then.
