It funny cause the founding fathers didn't put the second amendment into the Constitution to protect hunting, or sport shooting. They put it in the Constitution with the intention of opposing tyranny and suppressing insurrection. James Madison specifically wanted the people to have guns so they would never fear the government.
Back when the constitution was written gun ownership was seen as an even greater freedom, because at the time England allowed only the wealthy to own guns.

I don't care for ponies but I tolerate them, I don't care for people that scream for gun control but I tolerate and attempt to reason with them in vain, But when it's a mix of the two I just die inside. I've found that most sources of information in arguments like this always contain some amount of bias. Knowing this I search for what I know is right and is consistent with what I've seen in my time, and what I see every day. When I go to the range to shoot my Garand I don't see paranoid criminals. I see normal people enjoying their hobby, just last weekend I was at my range of choice and a father had his two sons and daughter out learning to shoot on a .22, I saw police officers with AR-15s practicing and even mingling with others. What I see in my fellow gun owners are decent and reasonable people that come under fire alot by others who are fearful.
Grabbed some fat loot at the Tulsa Arms Show (Whanenmacher or whatever the fuck it's called). It was fucking amazing. Lugers out the ass, with every booth shitting Nambus, AR uppers, lowers, parts kits and all kinds of guns both new and old and completely swamped with a few hundred thousand people trying to buy them all.
Picked up a couple AR mags, one thirty rounds and one forty rounds, one VZ-58 mag (this build is getting expensive. Breaching $500 already, but I'm really liking how it's shaping up), two Korean 40 round AK mags (they were cheap and I like 40 round mags on AK's, they look fitting even though they are unwieldy), a couple M1 Garand clips, a shitload of 7.62x39 with SKS stripper clips to boot, 5.56x45, 7.62x54r, .45 ACP and some non-corrosive 7.62x25 (expensive as shit but my CZ-52 deserves it). Aaaand last but most certaintly not fucking least, a mismatched Remington mostly GI 1911A1 in amazing condition. It has a Remington upper with matching parts minus the frame, which is marked "Interarms Silver Cup" on the left, and "Interarms Alexandria, VA" on the other. Also came with a matching Remington mag.
Will do to get some decent pics in the light tomorrow. Anyone else go?
My dad just bought a stripped Tapco AR-15 lower. This will be the first gun build in our family that isn't pre 1950, and the first gun to have any sort of rail interface, or non wood/bakelite furniture!
I went to a gunshow here in MI. ARs and AKs EVERYWHERE. I was kind of disappointed because almost none of the booths I normally frequent at that show were there. But on the one hand, all the ARs and AKs drove the prices of Milsurps way down so I came out with the Savage Lee Enfield exc. condition all matching including wood for a whopping $200
I'm going to be going to a gun show soon and hoping I can get a turk mauser or a finnish mosin for dirt cheap
What carbine-length AR uppers would you guys suggest? I have a complete lower currently, just finished it at last weeks gun show.
