I've been shopping around trying to find the best deal on 7.92x57 soft tip, nearly every site has shipping that costs more than the damn box of ammo.
I might just say fuck it and use my mom's .270, no way in hell I'm paying 40$ for a box of 20 rounds.

any ammo is hard to find at all right now, and 7.92x57 is normally impossible to find
I don't know anything about ohio gun laws, but if it's like the rest of the country, all you need to do is fill out and pass a backround check and they'll hand the pistol over to you.
Can anyone confirm this or help me understand Ohio laws if you're from Ohio? I've tried looking up anything relevant to my situation to no avail.
It wouldn't surprise me if sobotnik's never seen a gun in his entire life
outside of movies/games of course.
It funny cause the founding fathers didn't put the second amendment into the Constitution to protect hunting, or sport shooting. They put it in the Constitution with the intention of opposing tyranny and suppressing insurrection. James Madison specifically wanted the people to have guns so they would never fear the government.
Back when the constitution was written gun ownership was seen as an even greater freedom, because at the time England allowed only the wealthy to own guns.
anyways yeah, Sobotnik's been reading some Brady campaign pamphlets or some shit.
Also, back when the 2nd amendment was made, ALL GUNS WERE CONSIDERED MILITARY ARMS. There was no distinction between squirrel huntin' rifle and killing redcoats gun. Yet now days, we have such a dichotomy between 'civilian' and 'military' guns. If Washington had an M4 and Jefferson had an M60, that's what civilians would've had too.
The biggest problem is our gun rights organizations are quiet. Nobody knows about them, no politicians fear them, they never release media campaigns, they have no public presence, but all our media is always propagating for gun bans, always saying that these prohibitions are somehow making Canada safer, despite there actually being evidence to the contrary. We need a public presence here, gun owners have told the organizations that we need ad campaigns, but they don't have the money or the patience to fight against the bias in the media to allow ads to be screened on the anti-gun media channels. It's an uphill battle, and we've made a little headway with repealing the long gun registry, but until I can buy an Izhmash Saiga in 7.62 and a 3" S&W Model 60, and not need any paperwork to bring them to the range, then the gun laws here are still far too broken.
Oh hai Sobotnik. Find my aspirations for freedoms and rights amusing, do you?
Whenever I look down my scope I can only hold my left eye closed for about 10 seconds and then my vision becomes blurry and also starts shaking. This started last week and I have no idea what may have caused it.
Has anyone had this problem before?
If I buy an AR-15 upper with a free float tube, is it easier to install free float quad rails? Like just twisting the tube off and twisting the quad rail on?
I don't wanna start at square one where you just have the standard delta ring and a2 heat shield. I just wanna be able to twist on the free float quad rail after I remove the front sight post.
Starting at square one probably means I'd have to buy specialty wrenches, workbench with a clamp, and messing around with the gas tube.
quite a few lurkers lately, it seems. Wonder whats brought that on.

Switch eyes.
Switch eyes.
I tried that, but my left eye does the same thing.
Get your vision checked

should probably go see a doctor then.

It depends on what you are removing and installing. Most factory free float handguards use a proprietary barrel nut that would have to be removed and replaced to get an aftermarket one on. At that point, the only advantage over a standard upper is the front sight has likely already been replaced with a low profile gas block.
I tried that, but my left eye does the same thing.
Have you tried keeping both eyes open? Also go see an optometrist, just to be safe.
you're supposed to keep both eyes open when using a scope
you're supposed to keep both eyes open when using a scope
See I have a hard time doing this. I'm left handed, I hold the gun on my left side, yet my right eye is my dominant one. So when I look down the scope with both eyes open, I uncontrollably focus on whatever is in my right eye's view. It sucks not being able to use a scope because of it.
just because you're left hand dominant doesn't mean you have to shoot that way. I find it pretty natural to shoot from either shoulder
Time for a banana republic tale:
Back in the 80's when my country was under Pinochet's dictatorship there were a group of insurgents called the "FPMR"

In 1986 these suckers smuggled with Cuban help 70 tons of weapons into the country, mainly decommissioned M16A1s, LAWs, grenades and ammunition from the Vietnam war, through a little shore town called "Carrizal Bajo". Half the stuff was eventually recovered and destroyed, but the other half remains unaccounted for to this day.
The dictatorship ended in 1990, but the guns, ammo and even missile launchers from that incident still appear every now and then in the hands of drug dealers.

I never do this, find it hard to orient myself when one eye is zoomed in and the other isn't. Same with iron sights, I close one eye.

It's really just a pleasantry to "maintain situational awareness" not some rule craved in stone and written in blood...
So the federal government is repealing regulations that, had they been implemented, would have effectively ended gun shows, and all the Liberal Bureaucrats in positions of power in the gun world who all claim to be "experts" are saying it'll lead to US-style straw purchases by gangsters and drug dealers. The thing is, up here we have licenses. They're basically saying that despite all gun owners needing to be licensed, that's not enough to keep them in abidance with the law, and cause them not to sell guns to people without licenses, they're saying if the government and bureaucracy isn't breathing down the necks of gun owners 24/7, then all gun owners in the country will immediately turn into violent criminals and arms dealers. And what's worse is the media, the CBC, our FEDERAL BROADCASTER, propagates the bias of these bureaucrats against guns and gun owners.
It's absolutely disgusting.

How much did you pay and where'd you get it? I'll probably end up getting an optic from Kalinka when I eventually grab an AK.

A guy on Something Awful mentioned in the AK thread he was selling one. When I asked where, he told me it was on eBay. Starting bid was $250. I paid $305 for it to beat out another bidder.
Majorly jelly. I really want to get one just like that, but they're more expensive than my actual AK was.
dude i love the kobra in dayz
but seriously, thats fucking sweet. the day i finally get my aks-74, i cant decide to get a kobra sight or a PSOP
If/when I get an AK, I'll probably get a PK-A.
