Ideally, mine would be a Mossberg 500 w/ nice wooden pump and pistol grip, and a heatshield.

Personally I think Moss 500s looks weird with wood, if you want wood, refinish a M1897 Trench Gun

My favorite part is how the shells are released from the bottom. I like to shoot left handed most of the time, so it's kind of useful to not have the shells flying into my face.

I am kinda surprised that Knight's didn't use this design for the MasterKey base, instead of the Rem870.

They were probably outbid.
Not like it matters, Masterkeys were never in any large scale production and those that were made, are being replaced.

I still remember getting up on a crane and sniping people with the 870 flechette &rifle scope
So here's my question:
In the United States, it's basically illegal to own a rifled shotgun. That being said, are there any rifles out there that have an internal barrel diameter wide enough to double as a 12g shotgun barrel?
Sweet, I now have my firearm licence! Took 12 fucking months

I don't think they're banned, just considered destructive devices, meaning any rifle large enough ti double as a 12 gauge will also be a DD. Just pay the $200 stamp and get one

If the government decided that rifled 12ga firearms are too dangerous for us to have, I'd assume that they would do the same for rifles big enough to shoot 12ga.

it's not illegal to own a rifled shotgun at all
you can run any straight walled .50 caliber ammo through a C gauge but I don't think you're going to find a C gauge shotgun or C gauge ammo anywhere
[editline]25th November 2012[/editline]
you can take pretty much any straight walled cartridge and load it like a shotgun shell. it used to be semi-popular with cartridges like .50-90. army even issued .45-70 loaded with birdshot, it was called .45-70 Forager
[editline]25th November 2012[/editline]
you'd have to run it through a single shot though

What would be the repercussions of firing a non-slug round from this?

For some reason, I think that what you're saying is probably wrong. No ammo company would make slugs if they were illegal in the US, because export isn't profitable enough, and no company would make rifled barrels for shotguns only for export, again because it's not profitable enough. Seeing as plenty of companies make and sell rifled barrels and assembled rifled shotguns without any regulation upon them, and that nearly every ammo company makes slugs, chances are neither of them are illegal.

weird and unusable (but predictable) spread and increased lead fouling. you can't shoot rifled slugs through it either
The Taurus Judge has rifling in it.
The Taurus Judge has rifling in it.
the taurus judge is technically a .45 long colt
What he's trying to say is that it's illegal to own a firearm that has a barrel with same diameter as a 12 gauge but fires a standard rifle round. As in it was never designed to be a shotgun in the first place, but a rifle.
His question was is there a rifle out there that has a barrel diameter big enough to hold a 12 gauge shell, thus making it dual purpose similar to .410 and .45 long colt.
I'm sure there's black powder rifles out there that have a similar diameter (I think a 12 gauge is .75 cal off the top of my head, don't quote me on that though), and I'm sure there's some elephant guns that large.

the bore diameter of a 12 gauge is .729 inches. I don't know of any elephant guns in that caliber.
