I struck gold a couple times...
Deac Bren (complete gun, no internals, sealed box of 10 magazines in transit case)
Belgian B.A.R. kit (no receiver)
Browning 1919 (stock, bipod, barrel grip, bag of links/.30 brass) This gun only needed a right side plate to function, which we never got around to commissioning to have milled or buying one.
Price for all 3: $300!
1871 Springfield 50-70 rolling block rifle: $250
1800's H&R .23 break-top hammerless double action revolver with a great story: $100
Sporterized Enfield 1918 manufacture date: $65

So, I walk into my local pawn/gun shop today to buy some .223, I take my cap off to scratch my head and notice that theres an entire ceiling above me littered with mosin nagants that I never noticed before. I pulled some down and found a finnish mosin for 100$! The guy told me he just wanted to get rid of them since he bought them decades ago and they hadn't sold, only a few had looked at them. So I bought an M44 AND a finnish mosin for 250$!

[sp]finnish mosin was made in 1932 at Tika I think.[/sp]

the things had cobwebs in the barrel it's been so long since anything has been down the barrel.
Oh man, I'm admittedly jealous.
My local gun shop actually has two Mosins that I've had my eyes on now for a couple weeks. The one is apparently an Izhmash 91/30 for $150 and he's also selling a consignment Finnish M44.. but the guy selling it wants $450 for the thing (I have no idea how he imagines he'll get that much out of it). Both are in good condition too.
I've seriously been considering the Izhmash, but I wanted to do a little more research because admittedly.. I don't know a lot about Mosins, but recently (after viewing this thread (lurking)) my interest has peaked in picking up one.

i want a B.A.R. :(
The Finns never made an M44. Is it a Finn capture? or is it an M39? If it's a Finn capture M44 then $450 is a p. fair price, Finn captures, especially ones in good condition are p. highly sought after
"Finnish" Mosins are sold in Australia for over $1000 each...
Local gunshop has an M44, but I've got no clue where it's from. It's got so many stamps on it that I can't tell where it came from, could be romanian, could be nork, could be a fin capture. Was like 200-250$, but it's rifling was pretty much gone, the serials didn't match, and the bolt was rusted and pitted all to hell.
Finn captures will have [SA] stamped on them
$450 for an M39 isn't terrible either in some areas. M39s are hard enough to find that you can pretty much charge whatever for them
Found this on Wikipedia's AR-15 vs AK 47 article

That screams a little bit Tacticool don't you think?
AK-12. That's like, stock, though...
Isnt that a Galil though? :v:
Whatever it is, it isn't an AK-12.
Whatever it is, it isn't an AK-12.
Its a modified Galil. Looks like 5.56mm from the mag shape.
I dunno about you guys, but that looks more like an ugly than a galil or ak-12.
It's a makarov

I was just going off what the guy selling it put on the tag. The shop owner didn't really know anything about it either. I'll look into it more the next time I stop in.

I'll also check for this. I assume it's a receiver/barrel stamp?
I hate not knowing this stuff.. but again.. new to Mosins. Pardon the ignorance.
it's usually stamped on the forward left side of the receiver ring/beginning of barrel.
An M44 will be a short carbine length rifle with a side-folding bayonet
Here's an extensive resource for Mosin Nagants http://7.62x54r.net/

my fin mosin has an SA stamp on the left side of the receiver just above the wood, what does that stamp actually mean?
it stands for Suomen Armeija. It's the Finnish Army property mark
How does one check if the bayonet is for a different model of Mosin?
It barely slips past the front sights, and then it won't come off.

You don't. Just ream out the loop
got a problem, that m44 I bought has a hair trigger. I took apart the trigger assembly and cleaned off the cosmoline and decades worth of build up(seems like the guy who owned it before me didn't clean out any cosmoline, or clean it at all) and oiled it. But its still a little light for my tastes. Any suggestions?

That's usually a good thing? Maybe someone filed the sear down at some point to be very straight.

a good explanation

This worked like a charm for me and won't destroy your bayonet.

I'm just paranoid about slam fires, I have good trigger discipline so it going off from an accidental trigger pull isn't an issue. I just prefer it to require a few more pounds of pressure before it goes off in case it gets dropped.
