Let's all cheer for proprietary ammunition. I do agree on the ban for Civilians though, I mean, the caliber was kinda designed to pierce bulletproof vests.
I wouldn't mind it in 9mm or some other caliber though.
I have at least 5 guns that will do a better job piercing a bulletproof vest
And I agree, but people who own guns don't make laws. They see this thing as being designed for it, so they rally against it.
I do agree on the ban for Civilians though, I mean, the caliber was kinda designed to pierce bulletproof vests.
???
I'm pretty sure my dads 62 grain green tips or his barnes TSX/Vortex bullets would go through a vest, and if not he can just go to a gun store like GT distributors or any other mom and pop gun shop and easily acquire some ballistic tip rounds.
[del]So I got me an east German holster for my Makarov and it came with a lanyard. Where does the loop part attach? Somewhere on the holster or on your belt?[/del]
nvm figured it out
Hell, a .30-06, 7.62x54r or .303 will blow a hole straight through 1/4" steel targets
Mp7 is garbage you don't want one
How come? Have you carried one?
I personally think the stock is kinda "flimsy" and cheap though, but I've only held it.
A friend of mine who shot it, thinks it's great. I want it because it's on my "cool-to-own"-list, not because it's practical.
(I live in a country where the only legal reason for buying a gun for self-defense, is on a select island, due to polar bears)
I don't think Umarex owns Walther, they do own a lot of licenses for replicas of their firearms, and using their name.
No, last I read they actually do own Walther, bought them in 1993.

So will a 62 grain 5.56/223
I do agree on the ban
This is the firearms thread.
We don't agree on bans.
IIRC, most vests cops wear aren't rated for any ammunition over .30 caliber at, I forget what distance... and, iirc, most are only rated for all other ammo at more than some distance like a yard or something... might have been point blank.

Except that literally any rifle chambered in anything above 5.45 would be infinitely more useful than a semi auto MP7. Hell, a 7.92x57 out of a K98K will go through a modern kevlar helmet and then some. The only thing "bulletproof" vests are good at stopping is 9mm's, and it barely does that.
no please don't try to make sense guys, MP7s kill babies, you're all terrible people
Does anyone make a semi-auto MAC-11 or Uzi (full-size or mini/micro)? I really want an interesting range toy.
Looks like a finnish gunshop just got a load of .22 UZI pistols made by Umarex. I didn't even know these kind of things existed :v: Anyways, selling those must be a burden. Anyone sane who can have a handgun license probably wouldn't waste one on these. Oh, they are 429€, ~560 USD.
Saw one at my local gunshop here. Was also above $500.

The difference comes when a person is hit by the bullet. A 5.56 to the arm will leave you with a small hole that you may be able to shrug off and keep fighting. A 30-06 will take your arm off at the shoulder and break half your ribcage plus your collarbone. 30-06 also has more stopping and penetrating power.

Master Piece Arms.

I thought we were just throwing out the fact that any small round can go through a bullet proof vest, also who can shrug off a hole in their body unless they are on drugs? I already cringe whenever I get shot by a paintball, I can't imagine being shot with a rifle. Also if the military were allowed some better rounds like hollow points or something that just creates havok and chaos, the 5.56 would be a better round.

you obviously have never been shot before!
that was actually not cringe worthy
a journalist actually opening her mind and not thinking one sided?!?!?!!?!?

One might for the novelty value. One of these days I'll get a Spas 12, already got a pet Dinosaur.
Is that a famas
No, it's an airsoft gun

What about an umneat ban?
The difference comes when a person is hit by the bullet. A 5.56 to the arm will leave you with a small hole that you may be able to shrug off and keep fighting. If a 5.56 were to go through your shoulder, it would start tumbling and tearing apart, leaving all kinds of shrapnel in you and several different canals. While I agree 5.56 is weak in comparison to larger 30 caliber rounds, you can't exactly shrug off being hit by one.
Speaking of bans, I sometimes like to highlight just how dumb some of our bans in Canada are.
This:
[img_thumb]http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachments/everything-else/243514d1332398669-8-year-old-boy-dies-uzi-uzi.jpg[/img_thumb]
and this:
[img_thumb]http://arniesairsoft.co.uk/news2/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/TM%20MAC10%20vs%20KSC%20MAC11.jpg[/img_thumb]
are both banned by name, but this:
[img_thumb]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7163/6797729005_5a633d1a9d_b.jpg[/img_thumb]
is perfectly legal, and when you put this barrel on it:
[img_thumb]http://www.wanstallsonline.com/images/P/BRS-99-600.png[/img_thumb]
It becomes non-restricted.
Similarly, this:
[img_thumb]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JhtOCP9RYHs/ToV0Z3I_BNI/AAAAAAAAAN8/F14Ugbg1RDQ/s640/44skorpion.jpg[/img_thumb]
is banned, but this:
[img_thumb]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/Autozam/LeftSideShortMag2.jpg[/img_thumb]
and this:
[img_thumb]http://www.tacticalimports.ca/images/M84.jpg[/img_thumb]
are both perfectly legal.
Those are only 2 examples, further retardation, which I'm not going to include pictures of, include any bullpup stock for a gun and the Steyr AUG both being banned, as well as the Norinco T97A, but the Norinco T97NSR is expected to be legal (they're almost essentially the same thing, except some stupid little thing with the mechanism) and the Tavor TAR-21 is legal. Also stupid is that the AK is illegal, but the CZ 858 is non-restricted. Then the AR-15 is restricted, and the Sig SG-550 is banned, but the Robinson Arms XCR and the Benelli MR1 are both non-restricted if they have a long enough barrel. The FAL and HK G3 are both banned, so are all semi-auto SCARs (due to auto sear compatibility, and FN isn't likely to make a SCAR just for Canada), and the AR-10 is restricted, but the SG-542 is non-restricted, so is the Springfield M1A/Norinco M305. The Thompson SMG in all variants is banned, but we have replica PPSh, Suomi KP-31, MP-38, and MP-40s that are perfectly legal. AND, on top of all this stupidity, semi-automatic MG-34, MG-42, M1919, M1936, AND M2 .50s are all legal, and due to being fed either by old cloth belts or disintegrating links, they all have effectively no magazine restrictions, whereas almost all other semi-auto rifles have to be pinned to 5 rounds, though there are numerous guns that circumvent those restrictions, including AR-15s in different calibres, and their magazine's compatibility with taking .223.
Hey, I got a sig pistol case out of the trash. What should I do with it? It's in perfect shape, just a little dirty.
Put it up on Armslist, ask $10-15 for it. Or take it to a gun show and do the same.

yeah but that's technically an AP round

No it's not. It's your standard mild steel cored ss109 round.
This is an AP round
