I was really excited when I got to fire one at a local range, but the first shot the rifle essentially farted right in my nose, it expelled some kind on gas straight up my nose, and it was not pleasant. The gun also had literally no recoil, it was like a .22, and that actually disappointed me, I was expecting it to have some punch behind it, and it was disappointing.
The best thing is they take STANAG mags, which means in Canada they'll take the 10 round "AR" magazine that doesn't need to be pinned to 5 rounds to be legal.

The LAR-15 is a pistol built on the AR platform, and magazines for the LAR-15 are therefore pistol mags, and pinned at 10. Because it's an AR platform, they will fit in any STANAG gun, meaning in the Tavor or AR, you can have a 10 round mag legally.

Ah alright. I heard about that from another Youtube video last year when I was researching the terms of my PAL and RPAL etc. I think I also saw a video of a guy with a 10-round Tavor in Canada but I forgot what the terms were of that. Doesn't CanadaAmmo have a Tavor in stock?

Not true at all. Most of your uppers and lowers are machined by the same machine shops, like CMT, LMT, LAR, and a few others. However, your internals very greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. The biggest thing is QC of the company the gun is coming from. You also have to look at the barrels, bolt carriers, feed ramps, etc. There are some many things that make each one different from the next.

Everything about the SR556 is BAD. SR556 is the reason I didn't list Ruger in my list on the previous page. My brother had one, and it was a trash gun. Nothing but feeding problems, no matter the ammo or mags used. He ended up selling it at a rather big loss.

if i do ever buy one, i dont feel like spending more than like $600 and even thats high. i know AR's are retarded expensive for a nice one but i cant afford some super nice colt or armalite
you can get a decent delton kit and maybe a cheap optic for 650 or so

The SR556 is $1400 for JUST the rifle, and it's a crappy one at that.
AR-15s can get expensive, VERY quick. I just did a quick tally on my Colt, and I'm already over $2300. If you are looking to stay at $600, do what Buttsex said and go Del-Ton.

Yes it does, overly long barrel extensions like that, especially without threading, look terrible. It's sad that we can't get a [i]real[/i] Makarov, and have to settle for the fake, commercial ones.

Hell, is anything on it salvageable?
That's still to be determined. So far the only confirmed 100% OK parts are the barrel and gas tube (and sights of course) op-rod and bolt are a maybe and the receiver is probably not.
