I just mean to say there are things that the slip under the media nose, because their ratings come first. Some times they prefer to spend time on popular celebrity news or the death report rather than focus on national issues or gov't corruption.
I don't mean to insinuate that the government should dictate what the media should report on.

If ratings don't come first you're talking about charity, or the media willingly restricting their value creation in order to satisfy this ethereal "greater good", which if you jump through the implications you'll find it to be just as bad as government controlled media.

gun prohibition isn't about stopping murder incidents from ever happening again, it's about greatly reducing the chance of them happening
gun prohibition isn't about stopping murder incidents from ever happening again, it's about greatly reducing the chance of them happening
Drug prohibition has had zero effect on that regard, every person that wants drugs gets them.

Except it doesn't, and there's plenty of evidence all around the world to showcase it doesn't, it only restricts the ability of law-abiding citizens to get the tools they use for their hobby. The Firearms Act didn't work in Canada, gun bans in the UK and Australia don't work, gun bans in South Africa and Jamaica don't work, and the Assault Weapons Ban in the US didn't work.
Now, this thread is supposed to be about guns, not gun control. So to get it back on topic, does anyone know if the barrel weight on this S&W 686-1 is removable?
There are some serious issues with that statement.
Who chooses what to show? How is this different from North Korea, Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union? How can you have freedom of press if there's someone telling you what to say?.
free press is all great but the media has to be responsible in what they choose to cover. being irresponsible in this matter has infringed on people's inalienable right to life time and time again

Israel isn't the greatest place in the world, but they know how to defend themselves. Perhaps America could learn from their little friend off in the east.
The media stirs up all sorts of shit in the U.S. It's like watching a horrible game show that slowly fucks up the world around you.
Was listening to the radio and the news came on about the shooting, I swear it was like listening to the reporter from Predator 2.
This is Tony Pope, live from L.A., the city of fear, where the psycho vigilante killer continues his daily diet for murder. Bodies strung out. Bodies with the skins ripped off. The hearts torn from the cadavers. And just recently, King Willie, the drug lord, the vicious drug lord, found in an alley just around the corner with his head cut off, and his spinal column torn from the body. A fitting demise to the Prince of Powder.
America is better than Israel though.
We're no longer a country who is, on the majority, racist xenophobes.
nothing wrong with being a racist xenophobe if you're able to keep your nation's children from getting murdered
I guess, but they just get murdered when they turn 18 and have to fight a war of modern colonialism.
Anyway, I think the US is the problem. Not guns.
Shit like this doesn't happen at any significant rate in other countries with relatively liberal gun laws
That's not fair, our country is huge, of course there will be more of one set thing in the US.

Would definitely like an answer to this question, as it may determine if I get the pistol or not.
It certainly looks removable. Like it slides right off.

smokeless. Black powder rounds are way too hard to find

I hope your not paying 600$ for that
I hope your not paying 600$ for that
Why's that? New they're $899 here. Am I missing something horribly wrong with it? If I can get it for $600 and take that ugly-ass weight off then I'd seriously consider it, but I'd need to look at it in person first.

You could just make your own if you use the right amount of powder.

Or have a cigarette at the end of it, to simulate smoke.

From my knowledge you need a special vise for the frame. And then a lathe to put a new barrel on... so idk if you're down with that.
Looking for a new barrel for my 870, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if the parkerized finish on a newly made barrel will match the receiver of my parkerized 870 made in the mid 90's?
I'm looking at this one: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/242364/remington-barrel-remington-870-12-gauge-3-18-1-2-fixed-improved-cylinder-bead-sight-parkerized

Might be off a bit, but what would stop you from wiping off the existing parkerization and parkerizing both yourself?

I was wondering if the weight came off the barrel, and if it didn't I wasn't going to buy it because of what you just said, I'd need to buy a new barrel and pay a smith to put it on. At that point I may as well buy a new one, but if the weight just slides off then I'd get that because it's only $600. Does the weight not come off then? Have you got experience with that? I ask because I genuinely want to know if anyone has experience with these and knows if that's removable without smithing.
Looking at some photos it looks like that specific part is welded to the barrel, there are only removable weights that go inside that part.
