If I were to design a bayonet, I'd make the part that goes around the barrel have a spring loaded clamp like device for a snug fit. I wonder if any bayonets already do that.

No, that is not how it works. Every deployment, you get a deployment weapon commissioned, commemorating that deployment. The weapons are usually discounted, so you get a very nice weapon for a very good price. I am currently issued an M4-M203. That is my official weapon, and you are not allowed a personal weapon for obvious reasons during deployment. The weapons we get commissioned are for personal use and ownership back in the states.

Yeah, even in Canada you can apply to bring a personal handgun on tour with you, I work with someone who brought a Kimber .45, despite the fact that he would have been issued a 9mm Browning Hi-Power anyways, he wanted his gun with him.

That's pretty cool. If I was on deployment I'd take two handguns. One in my preferred calibre, and one in 9mm (the standard ADF calibre) so if I run out I'm still good. But I'm not in the ADF, nor do they let you do this in Australia

Can we get a link to this article? It would make sense given Sweden's reputation as extremely peaceful, that anyone with any gun would be considered a nut. Don't they have hunters in the far north though?

Most all bayonets will have some rattle in them. They are built with wide margins to increase the probability that they will fit all applicable weapons.

I will try to find it later. and yes, up here in the north alot of people hunt. But down south it's not very common.
