30 round pistol magazines are used in sport shooting? Didn't know that I'm not for particularly extensive gun control, far less than any of the people who seem to occupy SH full time, but I would be decidedly neutral on measures that made extended pistol magazines harder to get.
Making high cap mags harder to get isn't going to prevent gun crime or make it any less deadly. Criminals aren't going to get their shit legally, they're either going to steal it or buy it through some sort of black market. Plus high cap mags on pistols are unwieldy as hell, unless you're Rambo.
You will have to excuse people, when public mass shootings become a bi-weekly event the conversation tends to pick up.
I'm just getting sick of going into SH to see a 5-30 page long gun control debate. Someone should just make a megathread or something.
There is a megathread, it's in Mass Debate. Nobody just wants to use the thread because their opinions are stupid and not founded in any sort of factual basis.
Heh, budsgunshop.com has their DDOS protection up, wonder if someone tried to bring down their website. Aim surplus also has some Mosin M44's in stock for 190$ a piece, not a bad price IMO.
The only thing I can think of that will even remotely work to reduce gun crime is to make ammo prices exorbitant. Like super exorbitant. Except when purchased at a range for use at the range, for example. But that still sucks for regular responsible gun owners.
A better idea is to just try to reduce crime in general. The mass shootings, while uncomfortably common in the United States, are statistically insignificant compared to the general gun crime statistics in the US. Lower crime means lower rates of guns used in crime. Obviously I don't have any specific suggestions other than expanding our social welfare problems, which would run into trouble with conservatives who, unless I'm making a massively igrnoant generalization, hold most of the guns in this country. It's a catch 22
Making high cap mags harder to get isn't going to prevent gun crime or make it any less deadly. Most were purchased legally. I dunno, I wouldn't go on a crusade to ban them, but I wouldn't be particularly sad to see them banned or restricted. I just don't see the point in them other than the ridiculously niche "hi-cap magazine collector slash people who plink and don't want to reload as often" market
I'm just getting sick of going into SH to see a 5-30 page long gun control debate. While I disagree with posts from Sobotnik et al who just want to outright ban firearms, I find their discourse to be tolerable and intelligible. But my point was that it's inevitable and I guess the best solution is to just not frequent those threads if it gets tiring

This is the firearms thread, not the gun control thread.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy guns and ship them to Sweden? Instead of buying a Nagant for 750.
Fuck, I might buy one.
do eeeet, I got a polish(IKR) M44 and the thing is a blast to shoot.
I've already got an M91/30 though :c
does it have a shorter barrel, huge muzzle flash, or flip out pig-sticker? no? Then you need an M44

They just sent out an email today about their current status. Basically, while they didn't say it outright, they are getting overwhelmed with panic buyers. It's good for their business obviously, but it is effecting their customer service. Pretty much letting everyone know that they are doing the best they can. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
no reason you can't. the kac masterkey works just fine, I'm sure an AK would be easy to apply the same modifications to red jacket would put it on tv
I would love to see if we could get Red Jacket to do it. If we get enough people in support of the idea, I'll bring it down there personally. lol As for all the AWB talk, what bothers me is how they think that banning 30-round magazines will make ANY difference. Let us suppose for a second that the recent shooter had an AR-15 with a fixed stock, no pistol grip (I know, bare with me), no flash suppressor, no bayonet lug, and 10-round magazines. What exactly in this setup prevents him from shooting just as many people?
does it have a shorter barrel, huge muzzle flash, or flip out pig-sticker? no? Then you need an M44
So what you're saying is turn my M91 into an obrez with a bayonet? :v:
I have decided when I'm president that I'm going to make sure that no-one needs to worry about any sort of silly bans and the such. In the meantime, I'm worried. :tinfoil:

They are calling for a ban on all semi-automatic rifles, handguns, and shotguns that can accept detachable magazines, and any guns with fixed magazines that can hold over 10-rounds. Only certain hunting rifles would be exempt from this ban. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
Devils Advocate time. They can only kill 10 people rather than 30. -snip- wrong thread
If this passes, Canada would have better gun law than the US.
That's the thing, it won't pass. There are too many factors working AGAINST a new AWB that it would be illogical for it to pass. Columbine happened in 1999, right in the middle of the AWB. All of the weapons used by the two kids were banned under the AWB. A lot of good it did then huh? New York and Illinois still have many of the restrictions from the AWB in place, and they still have the highest crime rates in the country. I could go on, but I would be here all day.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy guns and ship them to Sweden? Instead of buying a Nagant for 750.
750 what? Dollars? Swedish crowns? If you mean Swedish crowns, then that is cheaper than most places in USA. I saw a guy selling 20 seemingly new Nuggets on www.dba.dk (about 8 months ago) for 1000DKK a piece, which makes them only slightly more expensive here than in USA.
You nordic folk are probably better off buying some type of mauser instead of a nugget. The mauser is basically your nugget.
Look at this California-legal baby killer I just found:
That looks really awkward to hold.
Ugh. I am no longer discussing gun control until I can get my head in order. My mom's anti-gun and only reads the liberal media, my dad's pro gun but like me still a democrat, the only news source I read regularly is the Huffington post because its sitting on Aol's homepage. So yeah, please excuse the weird gun shit I've been posting in SH.

The objective of an AWB isn't to prevent massacres, but rather to quell the public, contain the situation and throw a smokescreen over the real issues. It's about showing off and telling the country you're doing something.
Did you know that the worst school shooting in U.S. History was also at a Elementary school where 38 children, died. What did the suspect have you may ask?!?! Some TNT AND A 30-06 BOLT ACTION RIFLE!! Let us unite to ban those as well. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_disaster
It was more a bombing than a shooting, and I think he planted pesticides through out the school to try and detonate the entire school.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/12/foghorn/poll-40-of-americans-want-stricter-gun-laws-following-elementary-school-shooting/#more-179881 New Polls suggest slight majority favor bans on some things, while overwhelming majority oppose banning handguns out right. BAN THEM! BAN THEM NOW! [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] Also BAN BOMBS! AND BEING MENTALLY UNSTABLE!
More deployment gun shenanigans! Not only are we getting firearms commissioned at Troop level (company for non-cavalry folk), but our Task Force is getting ones commissioned as well! They are as follows: SIG P226 SIG P250 SIG 1911 tacpac SIG 556 SWAT SIG 556 Patrol SIG 716 Patrol All have the Task Force Destiny logo on them, as well as the 101st Airborne patch logo on them. On the pistols, it is on the top of the slide, TF Destiny symbol behind the ejection port, 101st symbol over the barrel. On the rifles, TF Destiny symbol is on the magwell. I am going to be a happy man at the end of this deployment. The pistols and rifles all have custom components, and all are massively discounted due to our miltary status and number of orders. I feel like a kid in a candy store.
